Book Synopsis Organic Photovoltaics by : Sam-Shajing Sun
Download or read book Organic Photovoltaics written by Sam-Shajing Sun and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 682 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently developed organic photovoltaics (OPVs) show distinct advantages over their inorganic counterparts due to their lighter weight, flexible shape, versatile materials synthesis and device fabrication schemes, and low cost in large-scale industrial production. Although many books currently exist on general concepts of PV and inorganic PV materials and devices, few are available that offer a comprehensive overview of recently fast developing organic and polymeric PV materials and devices. Organic Photovoltaics: Mechanisms, Materials, and Devices fills this gap. The book provides an international perspective on the latest research in this rapidly expanding field with contributions from top experts around the world. It presents a unified approach comprising three sections: General Overviews; Mechanisms and Modeling; and Materials and Devices. Discussions include sunlight capture, exciton diffusion and dissociation, interface properties, charge recombination and migration, and a variety of currently developing OPV materials/devices. The book also includes two forewords: one by Nobel Laureate Dr. Alan J. Heeger, and the other by Drs. Aloysius Hepp and Sheila Bailey of NASA Glenn Research Center. Organic Photovoltaics equips students, researchers, and engineers with knowledge of the mechanisms, materials, devices, and applications of OPVs necessary to develop cheaper, lighter, and cleaner renewable energy throughout the coming decades.

Book Synopsis Radionuclide Contamination and Remediation Through Plants by : Dharmendra Kumar Gupta
Download or read book Radionuclide Contamination and Remediation Through Plants written by Dharmendra Kumar Gupta and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-07-14 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the mechanistic (microscopic) understanding of radionuclide uptake by plants in contaminated soils and potential use of phytoremediation. The key features concern radionuclide toxicity in plants, how the radioactive materials are absorbed by plants, and how the plants cope with the toxic responses. The respective chapters examine soil classification, natural plant selection, speciation of actinides, kinetic modeling, and case studies on cesium uptake after radiation accidents. Radionuclide contaminants pose serious problems for biological systems, due to their chemical toxicity and radiological effects. The processes by which radionuclides can be incorporated into vegetation can either originate from activity interception by external plant surfaces (either directly from the atmosphere or from resuspended material), or through uptake of radionuclides via the root system. Subsequent transfer of toxic elements to the human food chain is a concrete danger. Therefore, the molecular mechanisms and genetic basis of transport into and within plants needs to be understood for two reasons: The effectiveness of radionuclide uptake into crop plants – so-called transfer coefficient – is a prerequisite for the calculation of dose due to the food path. On the other hand, efficient radionuclide transfer into plants can be made use of for decontamination of land – so-called phytoremediation, the direct use of living, green plants for in situ removal of pollutants from the environment or to reduce their concentrations to harmless levels.

Book Synopsis Tables of Mellin Transforms by : F. Oberhettinger
Download or read book Tables of Mellin Transforms written by F. Oberhettinger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains tables of integrals of the Mellin transform type z-l J (a) 1> (z) q,(x)x dx o t Since the substitution x = e- transforms (a) into (b) 1> (z) the Mellin transform is sometimes referred to as the two sided Laplace transform. The use of the Mellin transform in various problems in mathematical analysis is well established. Parti cularly widespread and effective is its application to problems arising in analytic number theory. This is partially due to the fact that if ¢(z) corresponding to a given q,(x) by (a) is known, then ¢(z) belonging to xaq,(x) or more general to P xaq,(x ) (p real) is likewise known. (See particularly the rules in sections 1. 1 and 2. 1 of this book. ) A list of major contributions conce~ning Mellin trans forms is added at the end of the introduction. Latin letters (unless otherwise stated) denote real positive numbers while Greek letters denote complex parameters within the given range of validity. The author is indebted to Mrs. Jolan Eross for her tireless effort and patience while typing this manuscript. Oregon State University Corvallis, Oregon May 1974 Fritz Oberhettinger Contents Part I.
