Book Synopsis Intracerebral Hemorrhage Hydrocephalus malresorptivus Peripheral Nerves by : Rüdiger Lorenz
Download or read book Intracerebral Hemorrhage Hydrocephalus malresorptivus Peripheral Nerves written by Rüdiger Lorenz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Neurosurgery presents the experience and research results of modern neurosurgeons confronted with urgent diagnostic and therapeutic problems. The first topic here is spontaneous intracerebral hematomas, whose localization determines the form of treatment and usually its outcome. Newer therapeutic approaches such as stereotactic removal, endoscopy and fibrinolysis supplement the results of standard operative methods. Secondly, the hydrocephalus malresorptivus is covered, presenting experience with the diagnostic value of intrathecal infusion tests, CT-cisternography, evoked potentials, and MRI CSF-flow studies, as well as aspects of neurosurgical intensive care such as barbiturate treatment, respiratory problems in head injury patients, auto-regulation mechanisms, and hospital infection. The last section is devoted to peripheral nerve surgery, reports on experience with microsurgery and various forms of anastomosis in both traumatic and tumorous nerve lesions.

Book Synopsis Neurological Aspects of Spinal Cord Injury by : Norbert Weidner
Download or read book Neurological Aspects of Spinal Cord Injury written by Norbert Weidner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-12 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This clinically focused book aims to cover for the first time all of the neurological aspects relevant to the diagnosis and treatment of spinal cord disease. Furthermore, innovative neurorestorative therapeutic strategies - aiming for repair of the damaged spinal cord and/or reorganization of the remaining nervous system - with significant potential for translation into clinical routine are presented. The book covers a comprehensive list of topics, including epidemiology, neuroanatomy, etiology of compressive and non-compressive spinal cord injury, imaging, neurophysiology, neurological sequelae, and complications with emphasis on dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. Both clinically established and preclinical therapies are discussed in detail. The book is suited for trainees and practicing clinicians including neurologists, spine surgeons, rehabilitation specialists, neuroradiologists, and occupational/physical therapists; it will also be of value to neuroscientists involved in research into spinal cord disease.
Book Synopsis Inflammatory Diseases of the Brain by : Stefan Hähnel
Download or read book Inflammatory Diseases of the Brain written by Stefan Hähnel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-07-08 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second, updated edition of Inflammatory Diseases of the Brain provides a comprehensive overview of the field from a neuroradiological point of view. In order to ensure a standardized approach throughout, each disease-oriented chapter is again subdivided into three principal sections: epidemiology, clinical presentation, and therapy; imaging; and differential diagnosis. A separate chapter addresses technical and methodological issues and imaging protocols. An important focus of the book is the current role of advanced MR imaging techniques, such as diffusion and perfusion MRI and MR spectroscopy, in the differentiation of inflammatory and other brain diseases. All of the authors are recognized experts, and the numerous high-quality and informative illustrations include some not contained in the first edition. This book will be of great value not only to neuroradiologists but also to neurologists, neuropediatricians, and general radiologists.

The evolution of MRI and the advent of neuroendoscopic surgery have resuscitated the interest in the classification, etiology and pathophysiology of hydrocephalus. The book offers an updated overview on the recent progress in this field, and a new approach to hydrocephalus: the reader will find in it a modern and new presentation of an old disease, where genetics, endoscopy, cost-effectiveness analyses and many other aspects of the various therapies are extensively discussed. The volume will be useful not only for neurosurgeons, but for all specialists interested in the various aspects of hydrocephalus: pediatricians, radiologists, endocrinologists, pathologists and geneticists.

Book Synopsis International Perspectives on Spinal Cord Injury by : World Health Organization
Download or read book International Perspectives on Spinal Cord Injury written by World Health Organization and published by World Health Organization. This book was released on 2013 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Every year between 250 000 and 500 000 people suffer a spinal cord injury, with road traffic crashes, falls and violence as the three leading causes. People with spinal cord injury are two to five times more likely to die prematurely. They also have lower rates of school enrollment and economic participation than people without such injuries. Spinal cord injury has costly consequences for the individual and society, but it is preventable, survivable and need not preclude good health and social inclusion. Ensuring an adequate medical and rehabilitation response, followed by supportive services and accessible environments, can help minimize the disruption to people with spinal cord injury and their families. The aims of International perspectives on spinal cord injury are to: ---assemble and summarize information on spinal cord injury, in particular the epidemiology, services, interventions and policies that are relevant, together with the lived experience of people with spinal cord injury; ---make recommendations for actions based on this evidence that are consistent with the aspirations for people with disabilities as expressed in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
