Download or read book Correlation Between United States and International Standard Industrial Classifications written by United States. Bureau of the Census and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report compares the current Standard Industrial Classifications of the United Nations (1968) [International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities], with those of the United States (1967)applicable to establishment-type economic units. The 1968 United Nations International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC) contained a number of major changes from the 1958 classification. The detailed structure was raised from a 3-digit to a 4-digit code. A new level, the division, was introduced between the first and second levels of the preceding ISIC. The major divisions, major groups, and groups of the present version correspond in general to the divisions, major groups, and groups of the 1958 ISIC. Also, the number of major groups were further subdivided in this version, thus enhancing the usefulness of the ISIC for purposes of analyzing economic statistics. The 1967 U.S. SIC changes from 1963 were generally limited to revision within the same 3-digit industry groups.

Book Synopsis Global Agricultural Trade and Developing Countries by : M. Ataman Aksoy
Download or read book Global Agricultural Trade and Developing Countries written by M. Ataman Aksoy and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2004-11-01 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global Agricultural Trade and Developing Countries presents research findings based on a series of commodity studies of significant economic importance to developing countries. The book sets the stage with background chapters and investigations of cross-cutting issues. It then describes trade and domestic policy regimes affecting agricultural and food markets, and assesses the resulting patterns of production and trade. The book continues with an analysis of product standards and costs of compliance and their effects on agricultural and food trade. The book also investigates the impact of preferences given to selected countries and their effectiveness, then reviews the evidence on the attempts to decouple agricultural support from agricultural output. The last background chapter explores the robustness of the global gains of multilateral agricultural and food trade liberalization. Given this context, the book presents detailed commodity studies for coffee, cotton, dairy, fruits and vegetables, groundnuts, rice, seafood products, sugar, and wheat. These markets feature distorted policy regimes among industrial or middle-income countries. The studies analyze current policy regimes in key producing and consuming countries, document the magnitude of these distortions and estimate the distributional impacts - winners and losers - of trade and domestic policy reforms. By bringing the key issues and findings together in one place, Global Agricultural Trade and Developing Countries aids policy makers and researchers, both in their approach to global negotiations and in evaluating their domestic policies on agriculture. The book also complements the recently published Agriculture and the WTO, which focuses primarily on the agricultural issues within the context of the WTO negotiations.
Book Synopsis International Standards for Food Safety by : Naomi Rees
Download or read book International Standards for Food Safety written by Naomi Rees and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2000-04-30 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is one of the first books to draw together information and views about international control of food safety from around the world. Demands for safe food, against a background of increasing trade, are making international controls on food safety essential. Agreements on how to control the safety of food to meet these needs are now in place among the major trading blocks, particularly in Europe and in the USA, and more recently, in Australia. This book also describes progress in areas such as systematically reviewing risk from food; developing national infrastructures to enforce standards; and growing input from consumer groups and others, including economists, to the debate on how to set international food standards. Discussed in depth is the effort to achieve global standards for food safety under the auspices of the Codex Alimentarius Commission. There are chapters from world-leading experts on Codex, international control of radiological contamination, pesticides and veterinary drugs, and other chemical contaminants.
