Book Synopsis Dispersed Manufacturing Networks by : Rob Dekkers
Download or read book Dispersed Manufacturing Networks written by Rob Dekkers and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-06-26 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dispersed Manufacturing Networks provides new perspectives of dispersed manufacturing systems from three points of view. The first is that offered by complex systems theory, particularly on how agents in these industrial networks interact and how that provides possibility for coordination. The book also elaborates on issues of coordination and planning, as well as examining new solutions and challenges for logistics problems and collaboration in engineering networks within the internationalisation perspective. The impact of globalization is discussed for both managerial decision-making and operational performance of supply chains. A strong emphasis is placed on the need for continuous decision-making with recognition of the fact that networks of loosely connected agents require different approaches. Both researchers and professionals will welcome Dispersed Manufacturing Networks. It is an informative guide for those researching and working across a range of fields.

Book Synopsis Artificial Intelligence in Theory and Practice by : Max Bramer
Download or read book Artificial Intelligence in Theory and Practice written by Max Bramer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-10-11 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers in this volume comprise the refereed proceedings of the conference 'Artificial Intelligence in Theory and Practice' (IFIP AI 2006), which formed part of the 19th World Computer Congress of IFIP, the International Federation for Information Processing (WCC- 2006), in Santiago, Chile in August 2006. The conference is organised by the IFIP Technical Committee on Artificial Intelligence (Technical Committee 12) and its Working Group 12.5 (Artificial Intelligence Applications). All papers were reviewed by at least two members of our Programme Committee. The best papers were selected for the conference and are included in this volume. The international nature of IFIP is amply reflected in the large number of countries represented here. The conference featured invited talks by Rose Dieng, John Atkinson, John Debenham and myself. IFIP AI 2006 also included the Second IFIP Symposium on Professional Practice in Artificial Intelligence, organised by Professor John Debenham, which ran alongside the refereed papers. I should like to thank the conference chair. Professor Debenham for all his efforts in organising the Symposium and the members of our programme committee for reviewing an unexpectedly large number of papers to a very tight deadline. This is the latest in a series of conferences organised by IFIP Technical Committee 12 dedicated to the techniques of Artificial Intelligence and their real-world applications. The wide range and importance of these applications is clearly indicated by the papers in this volume. Further information about TCI 2 can be found on our website http://www.ifiptcl2.org.

Book Synopsis Advances in Sound Localization by : Pawel Strumillo
Download or read book Advances in Sound Localization written by Pawel Strumillo and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-04-11 with total page 608 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sound source localization is an important research field that has attracted researchers' efforts from many technical and biomedical sciences. Sound source localization (SSL) is defined as the determination of the direction from a receiver, but also includes the distance from it. Because of the wave nature of sound propagation, phenomena such as refraction, diffraction, diffusion, reflection, reverberation and interference occur. The wide spectrum of sound frequencies that range from infrasounds through acoustic sounds to ultrasounds, also introduces difficulties, as different spectrum components have different penetration properties through the medium. Consequently, SSL is a complex computation problem and development of robust sound localization techniques calls for different approaches, including multisensor schemes, null-steering beamforming and time-difference arrival techniques. The book offers a rich source of valuable material on advances on SSL techniques and their applications that should appeal to researches representing diverse engineering and scientific disciplines.
Book Synopsis Essays on congruence theory in marketing by : Robér Rollin
Download or read book Essays on congruence theory in marketing written by Robér Rollin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-09-30 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital products are intangible goods, mainly presented visually and acoustically to consumers in the form of videos, images, texts, and music that can be bought, downloaded, or streamed via various web stores. Their consumption primarily fulfills hedonic needs. Before purchasing, a consumer's interaction with a digital product is always mediated by technology. Therefore, consumers cannot directly judge the quality through "touch and feel" experiences. This book diminishes the ability to evaluate digital products. Therefore his thesis seeks to answer which product attributes have an impact on consumers' product evaluation, and purchase intention.

Book excerpt: These Proceedings represent the work of contributors to the 14th European Conference on e-Learning, ECEL 2015, hosted this year by the University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield, UK on 29-30 October 2015. The Conference and Programme Co-Chairs are Pro-fessor Amanda Jefferies and Dr Marija Cubric, both from the University of Hertfordshire. The conference will be opened with a keynote address by Professor Patrick McAndrew, Director, Institute of Educational Tech-nology, Open University, UK with a talk on "Innovating for learning: designing for the future of education." On the second day the keynote will be delivered by Professor John Traxler, University of Wolverhampton, UK on the subject of "Mobile Learning - No Longer Just e-Learning with Mobiles." ECEL provides a valuable platform for individuals to present their research findings, display their work in progress and discuss conceptual advances in many different branches of e-Learning. At the same time, it provides an important opportunity for members of the EL community to come together with peers, share knowledge and exchange ideas. With an initial submission of 169 abstracts, after the double blind, peer review process there are 86 academic papers,16 Phd Papers, 5 Work in Progress papers and 1 non academic papers in these Conference Proceedings. These papers reflect the truly global nature of research in the area with contributions from Algeria, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Botswana, Canada, Chile, Cov-entry, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, England, Estonia, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Portugal, Republic of Kazakhstan, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Uganda, UK, United Arab Emirates, UK and USA, Zimbabwe. Book Synopsis Leading Issues in Leading Issues in Business and Management Research, Volume 2 by : Susan Geringer and John Mendy
Download or read book Leading Issues in Leading Issues in Business and Management Research, Volume 2 written by Susan Geringer and John Mendy and published by Academic Conferences and publishing limited. This book was released on 2015 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Methodology remains a vital issue at the heart of all scholarly activity. Without a proper appreciation of Research Methodology and its correct application academic progress is not possible. One of the problems which Research Methodology offers the learner is the very wide range of options which are frequently available with which to answer a research question and this high level of choice can lead to indecision and sometimes confusion. This book is a compilation of a number of important papers on this subject selected by two leaders in this field of study. A wide range of topic have been chosen which lead the reader through some of the more important considerations in the field. The book is designed to help with this type of problem and the the current selection of papers which highlight a variety of research questions, problems and issues and an accompanying range of research methods and methodological discussions. Their authors have stated the research positions they have adopted and respective levels of justification and knowledge forms have been presented. These range from those forms of knowledge that might be found of use to practitioners to those that are more philosophically or academically inclined. A certain level of research impact is either implied or overtly presented in the selected papers. This book is an important text for academics, researchers and students as well as those interested in using research from a commercial point of view.
