Book Synopsis Le statut juridique des migrants admis à des fins d'emploi by : Ryszard Cholewinski
Download or read book Le statut juridique des migrants admis à des fins d'emploi written by Ryszard Cholewinski and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2004-01-01 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Migrant Integration between Homeland and Host Society Volume 2 by : Anna Di Bartolomeo
Download or read book Migrant Integration between Homeland and Host Society Volume 2 written by Anna Di Bartolomeo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-07-10 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides solid empirical evidence into the role that countries and communities of origin play in the migrant integration processes at destination. Coverage explores several important questions, including: To what extent do policies pursued by receiving countries in Europe and the US complement or contradict each other? What effective contribution do they make to the successful integration of migrants? What obstacles do they put in their way? This title is the second of two complementary volumes, each of which is designed to stand alone and provide a different approach to the topic. Here, renowned contributors present evidence from the studies of 55 origin countries on five continents and 28 countries of destination in Europe where both quantitative and qualitative research was conducted. In addition, the chapters detail results of a unique worldwide survey of 900 organisations working on migrant integration and diaspora engagement. The results draw on an innovative methodology and new approaches to the analysis of large-scale survey data. This examination into the tensions between integration policies and diaspora engagement policies will appeal to academics, policymakers, integration practitioners, civil society organisations, as well as students. Overall, the chapters provide empirical evidence that builds upon a theoretical framework developed in a complementary volume: Migrant integration between Homeland and Host society. Vol. 1. Where does the country of origin fit? by A. Unterreiner, A. Weinar. and P. Fargues.

Book Synopsis New Dynamics in Female Migration and Integration by : Christiane Timmerman
Download or read book New Dynamics in Female Migration and Integration written by Christiane Timmerman and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-04-10 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the dynamic interplay between cross-national and cross-cultural patterns of female migration, integration and social change, by focusing on the specific case of Belgium. It provides insight into the dynamic interplay between gender and migration, and especially contributes to the knowledge of how migration changes gender relations in Belgium, as well as in the regions of origin. To this end, an analytical model for conducting gender-sensitive migration research is developed out of an initial theory-driven conceptual model. Employing a transversal approach, the researchers reveal similarities and differences across national backgrounds, disclosing the underlying, more "universal" gender dynamics.

Book Synopsis Citizenship in European Cities by : Karen Kraal
Download or read book Citizenship in European Cities written by Karen Kraal and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-03-02 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are relatively few books that provide comparative analysis of European cities in relation to immigrants and political participation. This fresh and insightful volume, from the same team that published Multicultural Policies and Modes of Citizenship in European Cities in 2001, analyzes how the presence of immigrants is perceived in politics, how this affects their status and how far minorities are able to (politically) participate in European cities. The comparative studies address the influence of (minority) politics, as well as that of migrant mediators and ethnic organizations on the participation of minorities. There are a variety of case studies from northern and southern Europe, offering insights into countries that differ in their modes of citizenship. The volume will be of specific interest to scholars, researchers and policy makers in migration, citizenship and multiculturalism, as well as a more general audience of sociologists, political sociologists, political scientists, anthropologists and social geographers.
