Book Synopsis Understanding the Kingdom of God (Concepts and Precepts) by : David O. Ogaga
Download or read book Understanding the Kingdom of God (Concepts and Precepts) written by David O. Ogaga and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2016-02-25 with total page 101 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What was Jesus main passion? What occupied the centre of his message? What did he really teach and preach? There was nothing more central, passion-driving, and life-consuming for Jesus than the message of the kingdom. It must be noted that things like healing and the casting out of demons were all the integral part of the message of the kingdom. Jesus never classified them as a ministry of their own. The Lords pattern in ministry reveals this: And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people (Matt. 4:23). Jesus was teaching the message of the kingdom, declaring I am a king whose kingdom does not take its root from the social, economic, and the political structure of this world. In response to the question as to whether Jesus is a king, he admitted so by saying, To this end was I born. In other words, the only major reason why I am born is to be a king. The wise men from the East did not come looking for a child but for a king that was born. The famous prayer starts with Thy kingdom comethe kingdom of God can as well be described as that moral and spiritual kingdom which the God of grace is setting up in this fallen world, whose subjects consist of as many as have been brought into hearty subjection to his gracious authority, and of which his Son Jesus is the glorious head. This book seeks to explain, explore, and provide insight into the present spiritual reality of the kingdom of God.

Stringfellow (1922–1993) brought greater insight into God’s Word to thousands of believers. Now, the author of Through the Bible in One Year and Great Characters of the Bible leads readers on a verse-by-verse study of the book of Daniel. Stringfellow’s in-depth teaching will bring clarity and understanding to one of the most misunderstood books in Scripture. With this study, readers will learn… • How to identify the major themes • How to memorize key verses • How to recognize God’s central message • An overview of various interpretations of the book’s imagery • The role Daniel’s prophecies play in the entire biblical story By embarking on this journey, believers will discover the influence that the book of Daniel had on the life and literature of the Jewish people throughout the biblical period and all the way to the writers of the New Testament, including Jesus Christ Himself, who often quoted from it. But nowhere is that influence seen as thoroughly as in the writings of the apostle John and parallels that exist with the book of Revelation. As in John’s prophetic work, the book of Daniel describes in beautiful and marvelous language the glorious coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Book Synopsis The Kingdom of God by : Nicholas Perrin
Download or read book The Kingdom of God written by Nicholas Perrin and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2019-02-26 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last hundred and fifty years the kingdom of God has emerged as one of the most important topics in theology, New Testament studies, and the life of the church. But what exactly is the kingdom of God? What does it mean for the people of God and what does it mean for how they live in the world? In The Kingdom of God, part of the Biblical Theology for Life series, Nicholas Perrin explores this dominant biblical metaphor, one that is paradoxically the meta-center and the mystery in Jesus' proclamation. After survey interpretations by figures from Ritschl to N. T. Wright, Perrin examines the "what, who, and how" questions of the kingdom. In his sweepingly comprehensive study, Perrin contends that the kingdom is inaugurated in Jesus' earthly ministry, but its final development awaits later events in history. In between the times, however, the people of God are called to participate in the reign of God by living out the distinctly kingdom-ethic through hope, forgiveness, love, and prayer. X

Kim Maas, international speaker and prophetic voice, guides readers to discover the answer to this question by showing our need to become like the sons of Issachar--men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do--in order to understand how to war using the weapons of the kingdom of God: violent love, violent mercy, violent forgiveness, and the violence of healing, deliverance, and salvation. It is time for the people of God to know the times and seasons and how to advance the kingdom of God!

Download or read book Understanding Jesus written by Joe Amaral and published by FaithWords. This book was released on 2011-09-10 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern-day Christians often bring their own presuppositions and assumptions to the reading of the Bible, not realizing how deeply their understanding of Christ's life and teachings is affected by a 21st-century worldview. In Understanding Jesus, author Joe Amaral delves deep into Jewish history, societal mores, and cultural traditions, closing the gap created by geographical distance and over two thousand years of history. Using a chronological approach to the life of Christ, he guides the reader through significant events such as Jesus' birth, baptism, and crucifixion, pointing out illuminating details that that the Western mind would normally miss. Amaral's premise is that to understand Jesus, we must understand the time and place in which he was born, the background from which he drew his illustrations, and the audience he spoke to. Throughout the book he explores specific terms, places, and events for their significance and shows how they add richness and meaning to the text. Topics include the connection between Jesus and John the Baptist, the annual Feasts and why they are important to modern Christianity, Jewish customs such as foot-washing, clean and unclean foods, paying tribute to political governments, and the significance of various miracles. In Understanding Jesus, Amaral draws back the curtain on a way of life that existed during the reign of the Caesars, and in doing so, reveals truths about the way we live more than two thousand years later, half a world away.
