Book excerpt: On the first day of spring of the new millennium, a minister's son had a profound experience of the Creator. Instead of coming as the Christian God, the Divine manifested as The Great Spirit. What was wrong with civilization? The journey into modern society began, as the Original Wisdom confronted Western, middle class culture. The dominant mind of knowledge that we take for granted was suddenly naked. There is a contemporary yearning for real spiritual experience, outside of formal, intellectual religion. The Creator broke all the rules. Strange events conformed to meaning that came from the 'heart.' Coincidences, past lives, soul stories, dreams, and visions fused with a modern, secular life story. What is outside of the invisible box that we call civilization? Escape mind culture, and truly understand what it means to live within the Creation in Time.

Book excerpt: “What is happening to my life?” Have you ever honestly asked yourself that question? As young boys, we dreamed of being pilots, firefighters, doctors, and cowboys. Now we’re older, with a wonderful wife and kids, as well as a mortgage, a minivan, and a fulfilling but not-so-glamorous job. What happened? All the dreams that once inspired us have evaporated into traffic jams, computer screens, bills, and deadlines. Why is life so ordinary? If you think your life is nothing special, take a look at it through God’s eyes. The revealing truth is that God chooses “ordinary,” faithful men to do His most important work—regular guys like Peter the fisherman, David the shepherd, Stephen the waiter, Gideon the farmer, Paul the tentmaker, and even Jesus the carpenter. In this engaging book, Troy Meeder blends stories about biblical characters and contemporary men to show that an “average-Joe” life, an “ordinary” existence, shapes a man’s integrity, moral stability, resolve, and strength. The world desperately needs an army of “average Joes.” Like you. “Troy Meeder’s heart-felt accounts from both his own personal experience and those of friends and family touch a raw nerve in your soul…. Average Joe reminds us that living a life focused on faith, family, and friends is what makes a man exceptional.” —Rick Wiggers, average Joe and account manager Includes a study guide for use by men’s groups.

This book was released on 2018-08-05 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dating in 2018 is difficult for many singles, but if you're a short, average looking middle-aged guy with no real game, it's even harder to get the attention of single women. The average Joe is considered to be vanilla, or bland, and doesn't stand out in a crowd. He doesn't have any outwardly discerning high-value qualities, and that makes it difficult for him to thrive in a competitive dating world; one where his opportunities are sometimes limited. It's difficult for average guys to figure out why they aren't having the success they desire, but when taking that hard look in the mirror, they can't help give more than a passing thought to what they have always suspected to be the truth: "It has to be me." If you've ever heard a woman say: "I'm sorry but I don't date anyone shorter than me." "I need a really strong guy. I mean, you're not jerk and all, and that's a good thing, but..." "You aren't the type of guy I'd normally go out with." "You're such a nice guy but I think we'd be better as friends." then this is a must read. As men, we are not expected to feel or show emotion, especially when it comes to dating and handling rejection. But deep inside, we worry just as much as women about how we are perceived. After repeated rejections, our emotions overwhelm us. We feel upset, hurt, frustrated, dejected, helpless, and have many times asked ourselves silently, "Is it really me?" It most certainly is. But there is hope. In this book, Vince Guaglione authentically shares his less-than-optimal, real-world dating experiences as a short, average-looking guy with no real game, goes on a fact-finding mission to learn what qualities truly matter to single women, and investigates both the social aspects of the singles world and the dynamics between the sexes, in an effort to learn what they reveal about dating as a whole. It's a book that empathizes with the plight of the average Joe. It lends an ear, provides support, offers encouragement, and dispenses concrete advice. But most of all, it gives this problem context for guys who have always suspected that their height, looks, and lack of game has negatively impacted their dating lives. Written primarily for the average Joe who struggles to attract dates, it also is relevant for those who are interested in understanding the real issues faced by these guys while navigating the sometimes turbulent and unchartered waters of the dating pool.

It may just seem like everyone else finds their purpose(s), and you can’t. Does it sometimes feel like you are trying everything you possibly can, and no matter how perfect a situation, in your life-experience, seems to be, there is always something missing? For example, picture yourself as you have always desired yourself to be. If you are ready to do whatever it takes to obtain that reality, look no further! This universe is your canvas, this guide is the road map to your Mona Lisa that is your life. As the author I can tell you, the life lessons, experiences, and transformations that ARE taking place inside you, even as you are currently reading this passage, cannot be taught in a textbook. Book excerpt: Why Men Cheat is intended to give its readers a realistic look into dating and relationships from an observation standpoint distinct from any book of its kind. Unlike doing research where an author may interview several single people or a few couples with a questionnaire to get their perspective on dating, longevity, and infidelity. Why Men Cheat is based on unscripted access and full disclosure based on the normal day-to-day interaction with would-be friends, family, and coworkers. My observation has been the type of fly-on-the-wall access that we often, after the fact, wish we could have had to better make an assessment of a certain situation. Rather than interviewing a couple or setting up a night to go out on the town to research the behavior of the person being interviewed as most people do in their research, I have had undetected interaction and surveillance of the behavior and true intentions of friends and strangers because I too was part of the dating environment. I have maintained and outside looking in perspective on many relationships and marriages throughout the years. I have witnessed firsthand the start of romance for many relationships but unfortunately been around to see several of those bonds deteriorate over time because of neglect or infidelity. My advice, although sometimes not favorable to what women really want to hear as they confide in me, is unbiased and based on “what men really think.”

Book excerpt: Build an iconic shopping experience that your customers love—and a work environment that your employees love being a part of—using this blueprint from Trader Joe’s visionary founder, Joe Coulombe. Infuse your organization with a distinct personality and culture that draws customers in a way that simply competing on price cannot. Joe Coulombe founded what would become Trader Joe’s in the late 1960s and helped shape it into the beloved, quirky food chain it is today. Realizing early on that he could not compete and win by playing the same game his bigger competitors were playing, he decided to build a store for educated people of somewhat modest means. He brought in unusual products from around the world and promoted them in the Fearless Flyer, providing customers with background on how they were sourced and their nutritional value. He also gave the stores a tiki theme to reinforce the exotic trader ship concept with employees wearing Hawaiian shirts. In this way, Joe laid down a blueprint for other business owners to follow to build their own unique shopping experience that customers love, and a work environment that employees love being a part of. In Becoming Trader Joe, Joe shares the lessons he learned by challenging the status quo and rethinking the way a business operates. He shows readers of all types: How moving from a pure analytical approach to a more creative, problem-solving approach can drive innovation. How finding an affluent niche of passionate customers can be a better strategy than competing on price and volume. How questioning all aspects of the way you do business leads to powerful results. How to build a business around your values and identity.

Book excerpt: In this, the third instalment of “The LOS Diaries”, Mark Jones provides more experienced comment on the cultural nuances of a rapidly developing part of the world. Living the dream in South East Asia, the author once again mixes his own brand of laconic storytelling with humorous and insightful observations on the region. Expanding on his experiences in the area’s naughty nightlife scene, short travel diaries provide an interesting look at the remote and far flung reaches beyond the red light districts of downtown Bangkok, Pattaya and Singapore. The comforts of the tourist fleshpots are left far behind in sojourns to the mountainous regions of Northern Laos and the remote temple sites of Cambodia. These are the LOS Diaries.

Book excerpt: Young and idealistic, Tori Hogan travels to Kenya as an intern for Save the Children, intent upon doing her part to improve the lives of refugees. But the cynicism of a young African boy changes Tori’s life and sets her on a course to reconsider everything she thought she knew about helping those in need. Years later, Tori returns to Africa and embarks on a journey through Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, searching for the truth about what does and does not work in international aid. While there are glimmers of hope along the way, she discovers an aid industry mired in waste, ineffective solutions imposed by well-intentioned outsiders, and humanitarian efforts that do more harm than good. Beyond Good Intentions is both a moving story of one woman’s personal journey and an urgent call to arms to change the way we offer aid overseas. Tori’s candid reflections on international aid shine a light on our ability to improve the lives of others, often in ways we would never expect.
