Book Synopsis Transactions on Large-Scale Data- and Knowledge-Centered Systems XVIII by : Abdelkader Hameurlain
Download or read book Transactions on Large-Scale Data- and Knowledge-Centered Systems XVIII written by Abdelkader Hameurlain and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-02-21 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The LNCS journal Transactions on Large-Scale Data- and Knowledge-Centered Systems focuses on data management, knowledge discovery, and knowledge processing, which are core and hot topics in computer science. Since the 1990s, the Internet has become the main driving force behind application development in all domains. An increase in the demand for resource sharing across different sites connected through networks has led to an evolution of data- and knowledge-management systems from centralized systems to decentralized systems enabling large-scale distributed applications providing high scalability. Current decentralized systems still focus on data and knowledge as their main resource. Feasibility of these systems relies basically on P2P (peer-to-peer) techniques and the support of agent systems with scaling and decentralized control. Synergy between grids, P2P systems, and agent technologies is the key to data- and knowledge-centered systems in large-scale environments. This, the 18th issue of Transactions on Large-Scale Data- and Knowledge-Centered Systems, contains extended and revised versions of seven papers presented at the 24th International Conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications, DEXA 2013, held in Prague, in the Czech Republic, in August 2013. Following the conference, and two further rounds of reviewing and selection, five extended papers and two invited keynote papers were chosen for inclusion in this special issue. The subject areas covered include argumentation, e-government, business processes, predictive traffic estimation, semantic model integration, top-k query processing, uncertainty handling, graph comparison, community detection, genetic programming, and web services.

Download or read book Complex Systems and Networks written by Jinhu Lü and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-08-14 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This elementary book provides some state-of-the-art research results on broad disciplinary sciences on complex networks. It presents an in-depth study with detailed description of dynamics, controls and applications of complex networks. The contents of this book can be summarized as follows. First, the dynamics of complex networks, for example, the cluster dynamic analysis by using kernel spectral methods, community detection algorithms in bipartite networks, epidemiological modeling with demographics and epidemic spreading on multi-layer networks, are studied. Second, the controls of complex networks are investigated including topics like distributed finite-time cooperative control of multi-agent systems by applying homogenous-degree and Lyapunov methods, composite finite-time containment control for disturbed second-order multi-agent systems, fractional-order observer design of multi-agent systems, chaos control and anticontrol of complex systems via Parrondos game and many more. Third, the applications of complex networks provide some applicable carriers, which show the importance of theories developed in complex networks. In particular, a general model for studying time evolution of transition networks, deflection routing in complex networks, recommender systems for social networks analysis and mining, strategy selection in networked evolutionary games, integration and methods in computational biology, are discussed in detail.

This book was released on 2013-06-04 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This self-contained book systematically explores the statistical dynamics on and of complex networks with a special focus on time-varying networks. In the constantly changing modern world, there is an urgent need to understand problems related to systems that dynamically evolve in either structure or function, or both. This work is an attempt to address such problems in the framework of complex networks. Dynamics on and of Complex Networks, Volume 2: Applications to Time-Varying Dynamical Systems is a collection of surveys and cutting-edge research contributions exploring key issues, challenges, and characteristics of dynamical networks that emerge in various complex systems. Toward this goal, the work is thematically organized into three main sections with the primary thrust on time-varying networks: Part I studies social dynamics; Part II focuses on community identification; and Part III illustrates diffusion processes. The contributed chapters in this volume are intended to promote cross-fertilization in several research areas and will be valuable to newcomers in the field, experienced researchers, practitioners, and graduate students interested in pursuing research in dynamical networks with applications to computer science, statistical physics, nonlinear dynamics, linguistics, and the social sciences. This volume follows Dynamics On and Of Complex Networks: Applications to Biology, Computer Science, and the Social Sciences (2009), ISBN 978-0-8176-4750-6.
Book Synopsis Computational Intelligence for Network Structure Analytics by : Maoguo Gong
Download or read book Computational Intelligence for Network Structure Analytics written by Maoguo Gong and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-09-19 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the latest research advances in complex network structure analytics based on computational intelligence (CI) approaches, particularly evolutionary optimization. Most if not all network issues are actually optimization problems, which are mostly NP-hard and challenge conventional optimization techniques. To effectively and efficiently solve these hard optimization problems, CI based network structure analytics offer significant advantages over conventional network analytics techniques. Meanwhile, using CI techniques may facilitate smart decision making by providing multiple options to choose from, while conventional methods can only offer a decision maker a single suggestion. In addition, CI based network structure analytics can greatly facilitate network modeling and analysis. And employing CI techniques to resolve network issues is likely to inspire other fields of study such as recommender systems, system biology, etc., which will in turn expand CI’s scope and applications. As a comprehensive text, the book covers a range of key topics, including network community discovery, evolutionary optimization, network structure balance analytics, network robustness analytics, community-based personalized recommendation, influence maximization, and biological network alignment. Offering a rich blend of theory and practice, the book is suitable for students, researchers and practitioners interested in network analytics and computational intelligence, both as a textbook and as a reference work.
