Le comportement au choc des structures tubulaires réalisées par enroulement filamentaire n'est pas pris en compte dans leur dimensionnement. Pourtant, en service l'endommagement localisé introduit par un impact accidentel peut mettre en cause leur capacité à résister à l’implosion. L’étude a permis d’identifier les mécanismes d’endommagement opérant lors de l’interaction projectile-tube. L’examen des effets d'échelle a montré que les lois traditionnelles de similitudes ne suffisent pas pour prédire l’endommagement des structures de plus grande échelle. Des essais d’implosion sur des cylindres sains et endommagés ont indiqué que les fissures sont plus nocives que les délaminages pour la tenue en pression externe. Des simulations par éléments finis prenant en compte l’endommagement ont montré un effet des dommages sur la pression limite.
