Book Synopsis Industrial Gas Turbines by : A M Y Razak
Download or read book Industrial Gas Turbines written by A M Y Razak and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 625 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Industrial Gas Turbines: Performance and Operability explains important aspects of gas turbine performance such as performance deterioration, service life and engine emissions. Traditionally, gas turbine performance has been taught from a design perspective with insufficient attention paid to the operational issues of a specific site. Operators are not always sufficiently familiar with engine performance issues to resolve operational problems and optimise performance.Industrial Gas Turbines: Performance and Operability discusses the key factors determining the performance of compressors, turbines, combustion and engine controls. An accompanying engine simulator CD illustrates gas turbine performance from the perspective of the operator, building on the concepts discussed in the text. The simulator is effectively a virtual engine and can be subjected to operating conditions that would be dangerous and damaging to an engine in real-life conditions. It also deals with issues of engine deterioration, emissions and turbine life. The combined use of text and simulators is designed to allow the reader to better understand and optimise gas turbine operation. - Discusses the key factors in determining the perfomance of compressors, turbines, combustion and engine controls - Explains important aspects of gas and turbine perfomance such as service life and engine emissions - Accompanied by CD illustrating gas turbine performance, building on the concepts discussed in the text

Book Synopsis History of Industrial Gases by : Ebbe Almqvist
Download or read book History of Industrial Gases written by Ebbe Almqvist and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Starting at the dawn of science, History of Industrial Gases traces the development of gas theory from its Aristotelian roots to its modern achievements as a global industry. Dr. Almqvist explores how environmental protection, geographical areas, and the drive for higher purity and efficiency affected development in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and how they will influence the future of this rapidly expanding industry. The roles of major contributing companies are also discussed to provide an informative and thought-provoking treatise valuable to anyone who studies or works in this fascinating field.
Download or read book Industrial Gases written by N.A. Downie and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-05-08 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Industrial gases are inextricably woven into the fabric of modern manufacturing. From the primary extraction of raw materials, through their intermediate processing to manufacture metals, chemicals and ceramics, to the fabrication of sophisticated industrial, consumer and food products, gases are used across the whole spectrum of industry. The isolation, manufature and supply of these gases is a major industry in itself; the 300 million tones of gas used each year generates sales in excess of $20 billion. In terms of tonnage, nitrogen has become the most used industrial gas, finding applications across the whole range of industry. It is still manufactured by liquifying and then distilling air, but as applications develop and demand increases, newer methods of isolation, such as pressure swing absorbtion and membrane seperation will become important. This new book introduces the main industrial gases and the gases industry, it discusses the main technologies for their isolation, seperation, manufacture and handling. In addition, the book contains an overview of the main applications of industrial gases and a brief discussion of new production processes and applications. Chemists, chemical engineers, physicists and technologists involved in the research and development, production or utilisation of industrial gases will find this concise book an essential and accessable reference source. For advanced students of these disciplines, the book provides a fascinating overview of this important industry.

Book Synopsis Industrial Gas Flaring Practices by : Nicholas P. Cheremisinoff
Download or read book Industrial Gas Flaring Practices written by Nicholas P. Cheremisinoff and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-04-01 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the consequences of the world's gas flaring practices only just beginning to be understood or even studied, this volume is the first in decades to tackle a very difficult hot-button issue for our time that could significantly reduce CO2 emissions and their affect on global warming. When properly used and maintained, flare gas systems can be a safe and reliable technology for system protection and in controlling emissions stemming from emergency releases. However, when misused and/or not carefully maintained, flaring operations can be a significant source of toxic emissions that adversely impact on air quality. Further to this, there are often misconceptions and misrepresentations on flaring efficiencies. This has led to under reporting of releases of toxins within communities. Flares are widely used throughout the oil refining and petrochemical industries to manage waste gases and as a means of safety control of over pressurization of process units. Both industry and environmental statutes concerning the regulation of flares characterize flaring as a safe practice that is capable of controlling air emissions to a high level of efficiency. But flaring operations are conducted far more frequently than systems were originally intended to operate, and aging refineries and petrochemical plants have given low priority to the critical maintenance and replacement of flare system components. The consequences have been far greater emissions than are generally reported along with serious accidents that have caused loss of lives and extensive damages to facility infrastructure and community property. This volume is intended as a technical reference for refineries and chemical plants. The information contained herein is the result of reviewing the general literature of flaring options and technologies, reviewing industry and U.S. EPA-published studies, and examining some of the practices of certain refinery operations where information has been accessible.
