Book Synopsis Research Schools on Number Theory in India by : Purabi Mukherji
Download or read book Research Schools on Number Theory in India written by Purabi Mukherji and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-05 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an attempt to describe the gradual development of the major schools of research on number theory in South India, Punjab, Mumbai, Bengal, and Bihar—including the establishment of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, a landmark event in the history of research of number theory in India. Research on number theory in India during modern times started with the advent of the iconic genius Srinivasa Ramanujan, inspiring mathematicians around the world. This book discusses the national and international impact of the research made by Indian number theorists. It also includes a carefully compiled, comprehensive bibliography of major 20th century Indian number theorists making this book important from the standpoint of historic documentation and a valuable resource for researchers of the field for their literature survey. This book also briefly discusses the importance of number theory in the modern world of mathematics, including applications of the results developed by indigenous number theorists in practical fields. Since the book is written from the viewpoint of the history of science, technical jargon and mathematical expressions have been avoided as much as possible.

Book Synopsis Multiple Criteria Optimization by : Xavier Gandibleux
Download or read book Multiple Criteria Optimization written by Xavier Gandibleux and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-11 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The generalized area of multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) can be defined as the body of methods and procedures by which the concern for multiple conflicting criteria can be formally incorporated into the analytical process. MCDM consists mostly of two branches, multiple criteria optimization and multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA). While MCDA is typically concerned with multiple criteria problems that have a small number of alternatives often in an environment of uncertainty (location of an airport, type of drug rehabilitation program), multiple criteria optimization is typically directed at problems formulated within a mathematical programming framework, but with a stack of objectives instead of just one (river basin management, engineering component design, product distribution). It is about the most modern treatment of multiple criteria optimization that this book is concerned. I look at this book as a nicely organized and well-rounded presentation of what I view as ”new wave” topics in multiple criteria optimization. Looking back to the origins of MCDM, most people agree that it was not until about the early 1970s that multiple criteria optimization c- gealed as a field. At this time, and for about the following fifteen years, the focus was on theories of multiple objective linear programming that subsume conventional (single criterion) linear programming, algorithms for characterizing the efficient set, theoretical vector-maximum dev- opments, and interactive procedures.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Topics in Contemporary Mathematical Analysis and Applications encompasses several contemporary topics in the field of mathematical analysis, their applications, and relevancies in other areas of research and study. The readers will find developments concerning the topics presented to a reasonable extent with various new problems for further study. Each chapter carefully presents the related problems and issues, methods of solutions, and their possible applications or relevancies in other scientific areas. Aims at enriching the understanding of methods, problems, and applications Offers an understanding of research problems by presenting the necessary developments in reasonable details Discusses applications and uses of operator theory, fixed-point theory, inequalities, bi-univalent functions, functional equations, and scalar-objective programming, and presents various associated problems and ways to solve such problems This book is written for individual researchers, educators, students, and department libraries.
Book Synopsis Handbook of Global Optimization by : R. Horst
Download or read book Handbook of Global Optimization written by R. Horst and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-11 with total page 891 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global optimization is concerned with the computation and characterization of global optima of nonlinear functions. During the past three decades the field of global optimization has been growing at a rapid pace, and the number of publications on all aspects of global optimization has been increasing steadily. Many applications, as well as new theoretical, algorithmic, and computational contributions have resulted. The Handbook of Global Optimization is the first comprehensive book to cover recent developments in global optimization. Each contribution in the Handbook is essentially expository in nature, but scholarly in its treatment. The chapters cover optimality conditions, complexity results, concave minimization, DC programming, general quadratic programming, nonlinear complementarity, minimax problems, multiplicative programming, Lipschitz optimization, fractional programming, network problems, trajectory methods, homotopy methods, interval methods, and stochastic approaches. The Handbook of Global Optimization is addressed to researchers in mathematical programming, as well as all scientists who use optimization methods to model and solve problems.
Book Synopsis Recent Advances and Applications of Fuzzy Metric Fixed Point Theory by : Dhananjay Gopal
Download or read book Recent Advances and Applications of Fuzzy Metric Fixed Point Theory written by Dhananjay Gopal and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-12-08 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book not only presents essential material to understand fuzzy metric fixed point theory, but also enables the readers to appreciate the recent advancements made in this direction. It contains seven chapters on different topics in fuzzy metric fixed point theory. These chapters cover a good range of interesting topics such as con- vergence problems in fuzzy metrics, fixed figure problems, and applications of fuzzy metrics. The main focus is to unpack a number of diverse aspects of fuzzy metric fixed point theory and its applications in an understandable way so that it could help and motivate young graduates to explore new avenues of research to extend this flourishing area in different directions. The discussion on fixed figure problems and fuzzy contractive fixed point theorems and their different generalizations invites active researchers in this field to develop a new branch of fixed point theory. Features: Explore the latest research and developments in fuzzy metric fixed point theory. Describes applications of fuzzy metrics to colour image processing. Covers new topics on fuzzy fixed figure problems. Filled with examples and open problems. This book serves as a reference book for scientific investigators who want to analyze a simple and direct presentation of the fundamentals of the theory of fuzzy metric fixed point and its applications. It may also be used as a textbook for postgraduate and research students who try to derive future research scope in this area.
