Book Synopsis Jamakkol Prasanam by : Tirupur S. GopalaKrishnan (GK)
Download or read book Jamakkol Prasanam written by Tirupur S. GopalaKrishnan (GK) and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2021-05-25 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Jamakkol prasanam is a distinguished technique of horary method of prediction. It is widely practiced in Tamilnadu and for the first time, this procedure is made available in English through this Book. By crossing this language barrier, the Jamakkol prasanam system offers a novel and simple method of astrological divination. This will benefit the astrological community residing in other parts of India and the world. This method is not alien to the conventional and traditional system of astrology. It encompasses all the rules, procedures and the practices of the Parasara system only. It differs in the approach with specific and special rules. The Jamakkol prasanam uses the three vital factors namely the Udhaya, the Aaruda and the Kavippu. These three fundamentals join the Jama planets and their interaction paves the way for the astrological predictions. This book teaches from the basis of the calculations involved in finding the Udhaya, the Aaruda and the Kavippu and also the procedure to fix the Jama planets. The Kaarakathuvas of the planets, the bhavas and the signs are important to arrive at exact results. So they are dealt exhaustively and exclusively. This will be helpful not only to the practitioners of the Jamakkol prasanam, but also to the astrologers in general. Case studies have been included to facilitate the easy comprehension of the Jamakkol system.
Book Synopsis Architectural Science and the Sun by : Dason Whitsett
Download or read book Architectural Science and the Sun written by Dason Whitsett and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-04-17 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Architectural Science and the Sun synthesizes physics, climate, program, and perception to provide a foundation in the principles of architectural science related to the sun: solar geometry, solar analysis and design techniques, passive design principles, and daylighting. Part analytical handbook, part inspiration source for schematic design, the content comprises a critical component of effective sustainable design. Beyond the purely technical aspects of these topics, Architectural Science and the Sun begins with the premise that great architecture goes beyond energy performance and the visual-aesthetic to engage all of the senses. Given that the stimuli to which our senses respond are physical phenomena such as light, heat, and sound, the designer must manipulate these parameters through the craft of building form and technology to create the desired qualitative experience. This book is designed to help the reader develop that skill.

Book Synopsis Shakespeare for the wiser sort by : Steve Sohmer
Download or read book Shakespeare for the wiser sort written by Steve Sohmer and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2018-07-30 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: William Shakespeare’s plays are riddled with passages, scenes and sudden plot twists which baffle and confound the most devoted playgoer and the most attentive commentator. Why, for example, didn’t Hamlet succeed to the throne of Denmark at the instant of his father’s death? (It’s not because the Danish throne was elective.) Why does Chorus in Romeo and Juliet promise his audience ‘two houres trafficke of our stage’ when the play obviously runs almost three hours? How is it that Old Hamlet sent his son to school in (Protestant) Wittenberg but his Ghost was sent to (Catholic) Purgatory? and is there cause-and-effect here? How can Lancelot Gobbo be correct (and he is) when he claims Black Monday (the day after Easter) and Ash Wednesday (the 41st day before Easter) once fell on the same day? And what is a ‘dram of eale’? This engaging and lucid book solves these tantalizing riddles and many others.

Book Synopsis Applications of Quantum Mechanical Techniques to Areas Outside of Quantum Mechanics. 2nd Edition by : Emmanuel Haven
Download or read book Applications of Quantum Mechanical Techniques to Areas Outside of Quantum Mechanics. 2nd Edition written by Emmanuel Haven and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2019-11-14 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with applications of quantum mechanical techniques to areas outside of quantum mechanics, so-called quantum-like modeling. Research in this area has grown over the last 15 years. But even already more than 50 years ago, the interaction between Physics Nobelist Pauli and the psychologist Carl Jung in the 1950’s on seeking to find analogous uses of the complementarity principle from quantum mechanics in psychology needs noting. This book does NOT want to advance that society is quantum mechanical! The macroscopic world is manifestly not quantum mechanical. But this rules not out that one can use concepts and the mathematical apparatus from quantum physics in a macroscopic environment. A mainstay ingredient of quantum mechanics, is ‘quantum probability’ and this tool has been proven to be useful in the mathematical modelling of decision making. In the most basic experiment of quantum physics, the double slit experiment, it is known (from the works of A. Khrennikov) that the law of total probability is violated. It is now well documented that several decision making paradoxes in psychology and economics (such as the Ellsberg paradox) do exhibit this violation of the law of total probability. When data is collected with experiments which test ‘non-rational’ decision making behaviour, one can observe that such data often exhibits a complex non-commutative structure, which may be even more complex than if one considers the structure allied to the basic two slit experiment. The community exploring quantum-like models has tried to address how quantum probability can help in better explaining those paradoxes. Research has now been published in very high standing journals on resolving some of the paradoxes with the mathematics of quantum physics. The aim of this book is to collect the contributions of world’s leading experts in quantum like modeling in decision making, psychology, cognition, economics, and finance.

Book Synopsis On Borrowed Time by : Harald Weinrich
Download or read book On Borrowed Time written by Harald Weinrich and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2010-02-15 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is short. This indisputable fact of existence has driven human ingenuity since antiquity, whether through efforts to lengthen our lives with medicine or shorten the amount of time we spend on work using technology. Alongside this struggle to manage the pressure of life’s ultimate deadline, human perception of the passage and effects of time has also changed. In On Borrowed Time, Harald Weinrich examines an extraordinary range of materials—from Hippocrates to Run Lola Run—to put forth a new conception of time and its limits that, unlike older models, is firmly grounded in human experience. Weinrich’s analysis of the roots of the word time connects it to the temples of the skull, demonstrating that humans first experienced time in the beating of their pulses. Tracing this corporeal perception of time across literary, religious, and philosophical works, Weinrich concludes that time functions as a kind of sixth sense—the crucial sense that enables the other five. Written with Weinrich’s customary narrative elegance, On Borrowed Time is an absorbing—and, fittingly, succinct—meditation on life’s inexorable brevity.
Book Synopsis Annotation-Based Semantics for Space and Time in Language by : Kiyong Lee
Download or read book Annotation-Based Semantics for Space and Time in Language written by Kiyong Lee and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2023-06-30 with total page 495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Space and time representation in language is important in linguistics and cognitive science research, as well as artificial intelligence applications like conversational robots and navigation systems. This book is the first for linguists and computer scientists that shows how to do model-theoretic semantics for temporal or spatial information in natural language, based on annotation structures. The book covers the entire cycle of developing a specification for annotation and the implementation of the model over the appropriate corpus for linguistic annotation. Its representation language is a type-theoretic, first-order logic in shallow semantics. Each interpretation model is delimited by a set of definitions of logical predicates used in semantic representations (e.g., past) or measuring expressions (e.g., counts or k). The counting function is then defined as a set and its cardinality, involving a universal quantification in a model. This definition then delineates a set of admissible models for interpretation.

Book excerpt: This is Vol 1 of total 2 Volumes in this Title. The special focus of this book is to make the ardent readers aware of the salient features of this Vedic text on astrology and how it is distinct from the other transcripts on the subject, available thus far. Great concerted efforts were made to collect, collate and combine all the available manuscripts and other related published material contributed by the eminent contemporary writers and commentators and then the sequence of subject matters is aligned to make it comprehensible and authentic. The name of this holistic text is also as per the ancient statement and record, namely ‘Parasara Hora’. This book adduces certain critical and important features which were never attempted before. This book in one hundred chapters falls in line with the description or narration: “होरा शताध्यायी सर्व पाप विनाशिनी verse as appeared in the Uttara Khanda of the text collated by Shridhar. Amongst the other contemporary writers of such treatise, Sitaram Jha, Devchandra Jha, Tarachand Shastri to name a few, have formatted this text covering between 71 and 101 chapters, but in most of the cases 20 odd chapters were not from ‘Hora Shastra’. These details are available in the introductory note: ‘The specialties of this book’. This note also minutely explains the deletion of inapt Shlokas, the addition of relevant Shlokas and also some Shlokas have been rearranged purposefully so are the chapters. Besides, the treatment of some of the subjects is so unique that will fill the void for the readers to experience. These 20 odd supplementary researched chapters culled out of the published and manuscript materials are unavailable in any text of the Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra (BPHS) of the present time. Trust with this value addition, the esteem readers will get immensely benefited.
