Book excerpt: Sometimes what you can’t see means everything Contains Books 3, 4, & 5 of the Imprints Series (An Autumn Rain Mystery) Upstaged (Imprints Series Book 3) In a world of make-believe, only imprints can uncover the truth Autumn Rain’s unique ability to read imprints is put to the test as she attempts to find a missing actress—and ends up discovering a murder. When her investigation leads to an eight-year-old mystery that involves more missing actors, Autumn becomes embroiled in a make-believe world where it’s difficult to tell fake imprints from real, and where everyone appears to have something to hide. To learn the truth, Autumn must team up again with the handsome Detective Shannon Martin, complicating their uncertain relationship and testing her loyalty to her best friend Jake Ryan. Why are both men so annoying? Life takes another unexpected turn when Autumn discovers a clue to her own past that may explain her unusual abilities. But her mixed feelings about this discovery are put on hold as she finds herself in a deadly struggle to keep from being upstaged permanently. Under Fire (Imprints Series Book 4) Some secrets are best left alone Autumn Rain is back to work, along with Detective Shannon Martin, the man she’s begun dating, but this time her investigation is personal. Autumn must prove whether or not her biological father, is responsible for the disappearance of a young girl. Cody Beckett’s past record makes him the main suspect, even if there’s not enough evidence to arrest him, and Autumn’s extraordinary ability to receive impressions from objects that have special meaning to their owners might be the only way she can uncover the truth. What Autumn discovers is far bigger than either she or Shannon expected. Secrets, lies, lost evidence, and more than one missing girl all point to a conclusion they don’t want to accept. But while Autumn struggles with her own volatile emotions regarding her family, time is running out. Blinded (Imprints Series Book 5) Sometimes clear sight comes only after you’re blinded When a rash of elderly deaths occurs in Portland, Autumn Rain is called upon to use her ability to read emotions imprinted on physical objects in an attempt to track down the killer. The antiques shop owner and part-time police consultant is more than willing to go undercover with the infuriating Detective Shannon Martin, the man she just might be falling for. Crime boss Nicholas Russo is also back in town to claim the favor Autumn owes him. If she doesn’t pay, her life and those of her family will be at risk, but helping Russo might mean the deaths of other innocent people. A chilling repeat imprint of a murder and a fiery near-death has Autumn rethinking everything she’s learned about her ability and what it has made her become. And then things really get crazy. "For fans of Medium and Ghost Whisperer."

Examining our influence on the lives we encounter through a lens of love and compassion, Imprints explores the long-lasting impact our words and actions have on our world, reminding us that the legacy we leave behind is built on who we are and how we live our lives day to day.

Book Synopsis Kegan Paul A Victorian Imprint by : Leslie Howsam
Download or read book Kegan Paul A Victorian Imprint written by Leslie Howsam and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 1999-12-15 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Kegan Paul imprint was created and its reputation for a distinguished list of titles established during a forty-year period from 1871 to 1911. Several publishers, and their firms, were involved in the development of the imprint during this period, beginning with Henry S. King and Company, and following in 1877 with Charles Kegan Paul and his partner Alfred Chenevix Trench. A financial crisis in 1889 forced an amalgamation with two other businesses and the new firm changed managers periodically until George Routledge and Son took over the business in 1911. Leslie Howsam combines biography and analytic bibliography in her study of the Kegan Paul imprint to demonstrate the value of publishing history as a contribution to the scholarly study of the book. Basing her research on intensive work in the company's surviving archives and supplemented by extensive library work with the actual books, Howsam looks at the wide range of significant titles published for the imprint. In addition, she reconstructs a biographical and business history of the firm based on published and unpublished accounts of the individuals involved, including the publishers and their families, and looks at the effects of changing business practices. The focus of Victorian Imprint – Kegan Paul is the duality of imprint: the publisher's imprint upon a list of books, and publisher's personalities, the imprint of their taste and judgment on the culture in which they lived.

Book Synopsis Shakespeare and the Imprints of Performance by : J. Gavin Paul
Download or read book Shakespeare and the Imprints of Performance written by J. Gavin Paul and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-09-04 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the study of drama, the question of how to relate text and performance—and what interpretive tools are best suited to analyzing them—is a longstanding and contentious one. Most scholars agree that reading a printed play is a means of dramatic realization absolutely unlike live performance, but everything else beyond this premise is contestable: how much authority to assign to playwrights, the extent to which texts and readings determine performance, and the capability of printed plays to communicate the possibilities of performance. Without denying that printed plays distort and fragment performance practice, this book negotiates an intractable debate by shifting attention to the ways in which these inevitable distortions can nevertheless enrich a reader's awareness of a play's performance potentialities. As author J. Gavin Paul demonstrates, printed plays can be more meaningfully engaged with actual performance than is typically assumed, via specific editorial principles and strategies. Focusing on the long history of Shakespearean editing, he develops the concept of the performancescape: a textual representation of performance potential that gives relative shape and stability to what is dynamic and multifarious.
