Book excerpt: Some of the authorities consulted in this work are: St. Ambrose; St. Francis de Sales; St. Alphonsus Liguori; St. IgnatiusLoyola; Quadrupani; Montalambert; de Maistre; Msgr. Gaume; Dupanloup; Thebaud; Butler's Lives of The Saints; Dr. Lingard; Lancaster's History of England; Ruskin; Marion Crawford; Meagher; Bullen; Preusse; Histoire Universelle, Rohrbacher; U. S. Department of Agriculture; The Holy Scriptures; Leo XIII; Pius X.There is a long discussion of the proper management of a parish from an economical and architectural point of view. This is followed by by a discussion of Catholic Action and increasing the fervor of a parish. He then devotes a chapter each to Freemasonry, Socialism and Anti-Catholic slanders. On Freemasonry he said: "Many good Catholics, and apparently even some of the clergy, labor under the impression that Freemasonry in the United States is not at all the same as it is in France, Italy and other countries of Europe. Not long ago, a special commissioner of the present French government, during a visit to this country, was told that Freemasonry in the United States was not the same as in France,. to which he very promptly and emphatically replied in the presence of the writer: "It is the same." Of this fact there cannot be the slightest doubt in the mind of anyone who is familiar with the subject. A leading -American Freemason, in a published statement, recently said: "Masonry is antagonistic to the last degree to Catholicism." Another American Mason of equal standing and authority declared that" The Mason everywhere is an enemy to Popery.""On Socialism our layman comments: Mr. Brown asks, "What Catholics are doing now to free the slaves of capitalism. The most complete system of slavery ever devised," and answers it. himself when he says: "Soeialism is the collective ownership and the cooperative utilization of all the resources of nature. True Christianity if practised to the full hy everyone, would bring the same result." As the Catholic church labors incessantly that "True Christianity" may be "practised to the full by everyone," it is evidently doing everything possible "to free the slaves of capitalism." quite recently the Papal delegate, the Pope's personal and official representative, said the greatest evil in the United States is wealth improperly used."

Download or read book New China written by Jim Hammond and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-04-23 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a factual exposition of the authors experiences in China for about one and a half years, beginning in 2005. The words are augmented by color photographs, which sometimes communicate better than words. The books facts and opinions are about the southern part of China, especially the Chongqing Province. The author did, however, visit Guangzhou, Zhenzhen, Hongkong, and Hainan Island. Besides facts, however, the author did talk to many people about their feelings and their life, dreams, and hopes. Oftentimes, this was colored by their unsolicited criticism of the Communist Party. The author also points out some of the developing concerns about pollution, corruption, and especially, their feelings of helplessness to address any issues. On the surface, the people appeared placid, but they had strong underlying opinions, which had to be held back to avoid conflict with authorities. They were well aware that the Communists would deal harshly with public criticism. The author will expand on the underlying consequences of New China in a following book. This book deals mainly with obvious details of Chinese society in New China.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The credential of the author is based upon the fact that he is a trained psychologist, a biologist and a scientist; and has been in management/business fields for many years, having been exposed in all aspects of commerce and finance. He has a Master degree in Industrial Psychology from the University of Sydney, Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in psychology from Australian National University and a major in Biology from RMIT. Was awarded the 'Elizabeth and Martin Summit Prize in Psychology', an annual award given to the most outstanding student in Psychology at Sydney University. He has been teaching in a university for several years and was involved in politics for some time, but voluntarily chose to pursue a different path because of the incompatible sets of values that are required against what he believed in. He has a background of Buddhist and Confucian upbringing and was converted to being a follower of Jesus as a Catholic. However, he had been battling with what the churches taught and his knowledge and understanding in the fields of biology and psychology, new discoveries of physical sciences in which he was trained, against the background of his upbringing in a culture that was homogenous and has survived for more than 5000 years of history and his life experiences in the modern commercial materialistic world culture. He believes in doing Gods work in whatever circumstances he was placed, to be guided by the principles of what he believed Jesus has taught in establishing a consistent logical framework that is universal and more holistic, the result of which is the writing of this book. One of his greatest gifts is his ability to analyze things logically and he has been a good debater when he was at school. He has thus put all his thoughts down, gathered from his training, life experiences and his wide exposure in the modern world environment to establish an overall consistent logical framework in understanding the meaning of life in the order of things; and the role religion plays in assisting each individuals to achieve the universal objective of a salvation and the conflicts that are generated as a result of different derivatives of history and culture of the world.
