Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written in the form of a devotional. It consists of my minisermons as posted daily on social media. It addresses the tussles we encounter daily. It is good for spiritual maturity, relationships, and wisdom. A devotional journal, compared to a memoir, should have some uplifting qualities and should be inspiring and illuminating. Thats what this book is intended to accomplish. This book will help you discover your purpose for living and hence your divine destiny. What you believe about God defines your life. Losing sight of God causes us to lose who we are really are. The Word is a prism through which we filter our changing self-image. Gods primary goal is to change us so that we can see as He sees. Christ Himself became wisdom from God to us in order for us (the church) to display the multifarious wisdom of God to the whole universe. God may not fix everything broken in your life now, but He is willing to renew your thinking so that you are able to think as He would have you think, desire what He says is best, and do what He calls you to do. This book could be a viable clutch missing at your fingertips, greatly needed in a culture in which post-truth is the word of the yearI mean todays culture where people are economical with the truth, where people sweeten it or tell the truth improved.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our teenagers are suffering more than ever. College counseling centers are overwhelmed, parents are worried, and mental health issues are increasingly common in young people between the ages of 12 and 20. Parents are particularly concerned about how to help their kids achieve a safe, healthy, and fulfilling college experience in light of soaring rates of depression and anxiety in young people. Mood Prep 101: A Parent's Guide to Preventing Depression and Anxiety in College-Bound Teens answers the question most parents have - "What can we do?" - when it comes to college-bound teens who may be vulnerable to anxiety and depression. Written with humor and compassion by award-winning psychologist and psychotherapist Carol Landau, this timely book empowers parents by providing strategies for helping their children psychologically prepare for college and adulthood, as well as by addressing and alleviating the anxiety parents themselves may feel about kids leaving home for the first time. Young people need a solid foundation of parental support in order to succeed at college; as such, Landau shows parents how they can promote healthy communication and problem-solving skills, and how they can help young people learn to better regulate emotions and tolerate distress. Landau also describes stressors typical amongst college students, and explains how to identify vulnerabilities to anxiety and depression, including perfectionism, social isolation, and the feeling of being "different". The book outlines how a parent can help students find a therapist and suggests such evidence- based treatments as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and interpersonal therapy (IPT). Finally, the book sheds light on some of the risky behaviors commonly found on today's college campuses, such as substance use and unsafe sexual relationships, and how they can exacerbate or even trigger anxiety and depression in young people. Landau concludes by calling on parents and educators to back away from the stressful, competitive focus of the college admissions process and turn instead to the values of curiosity, collaboration and empathy.

Book excerpt: This book is written to all kinds of people because all of us need to pray. Praying means asking. None of us is exempted from praying because we are all dependants in one way or another. Everything that is not God depends on God. We are inadequate because there is no time we don’t have expectations to meet. We have shared human desires. For example, everyone needs to be loved. We are all exclusively dependants on God because the desires of the human heart can only be found in the Lord. Trying to fix things apart from God is the recipe of failure. Praying is the greatest fellowship with God. We pray to the ‘all-sufficient’ God because we are insufficient by ourselves. Humanity with all human resources cannot save or fulfill itself. Our desires are endless and are constantly changing. For example, our eyes are never satisfied with seeing; we always want to see something new. Our ears are never satisfied with hearing; we always want to hear the current news. Likewise, the soul is never tired of yearning for the transcendent. People take different avenues when seeking for fulfillment but only those who have discovered the power of prayer experience true fulfillment. We are called to pray unceasingly because there is constantly a feeling of emptiness when we do not communicate with God. Emptiness is the reality of the void that colonized the heart, which was once a sacred space occupied by the Divine. Praying is to be intimate with God; it is having God’s ear and eye in order to see the earthly things from the heavenly perspective.

It is another way of emptying my vessel and filling your vessels with the blessings of wisdom that God has imparted in me for decades. I am positioned to teach biblical counseling due to the following factors: Apart from my academic credentials, my illuminating years in ministry have been punctuated with series of counselings which is compulsory for effective pastoring. Experience is the best teacher. “The better you look, the more you see.” Much more, hope you would be exposed to the ideas that inspiration generates to simulate your minds rather than to emotionally excite you. This book is different from other success motivation books because it is based on solid biblical principles. Everyone has a purpose in life and a unique talent to give to others. I want to help you to discover your potential and stay unique but relevant to the community.

Book excerpt: Timothy Wahl grew up on a dairy farm in the town of Andover, New York. A restless youth who hangs out with other farm boys dreams big and is bound and determined to make his mark on the world. But reality is a wet blanket. He not only feels out of place but IS out of place. He scores mediocre grades, plays sports clumsily, and contemplates without much success a future of fanfare and celebration. One of the few places where he feels like he belongs is in Mr. MacCrae's art class, which also serves as a dumping ground for miscreants and the troubled. No one knows just how troubled Timothy is until the summer of his senior year. If Timothy has any chance of overcoming his troubles and finding his place in the world, he'll have to find answers in uncommon places, and most importantly grow up. His life depends on it. Join Timothy as he finds adventure in a world where girls love The Beatles, neighbors still know each other, and where roots run deep. The good life may be just around the bend, but for now, it's Hard Times in the Country.

This book tells how he weathered the storms and troubled times that war, poverty, sickness, racism, and the death of his father brought into his life. It is a timely story of hope and inspiration for everyone, but especially targets those who feel that they have nowhere to turn in times of trouble. His journey from Greeneville, Tennessee, to Cleveland, Ohio with a stopover in Vietnam is a story of how troubles and hard times can be diverted or changed when we take responsibility for our actions and let God into our lives. The Reverend Deacon Friend believes that the words of wisdom from his parents as well as his own sense of enlightenment upon his consecration in the Catholic Church are important words for readers to hear. The Reverend Deacon Friend is a Vietnam veteran who is in a master's degree program at Ursuline College, Pepper Pike, OH, and is a deacon at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Cleveland, OH.

Carter shares openly about her difficult past in her touching memoir, A Heart to Live in Troubled Times. Gloria first gave her life to Jesus at nine, but she was unprepared for the challenges she would later endure. The pressures of being a teenager and the constant struggles between her parents drove her into the streets of Los Angeles, where she spent the next thirteen years in and out of drug rehabilitation centers. After what seemed a lifetime of trouble, she decided to end it all. Following several unsuccessful attempts at suicide, she began to cry out to God for help. Gloria expresses her turmoil through heartfelt poems, which complement narratives of her past. A Heart to Live in Troubled Times offers a compelling reminder of where joy can be found from one who has battled for hope.
