This holds with regard to both gene-Darwinism, a purified Darwinian approach biologizing the social sciences, and process- Darwinism found in the disciplines of psychology, philosophy of science, and economics. Although Darwinism is often linked to highly confirmed biological theories, some of its interpretations seem to profit from tautological claims as well, where scientific reputation cloaks ideological usage. This book discusses central tenets of Darwinism historically as well as systematically, for example the history of different Darwinian paradigms, the units-of-selection debate, and the philosophical problem of induction as basis of metaphysical Darwinism. Crucially the book addresses the Darwinian claim that evolution is governed by an immutable and unrelentingly cruel law of natural selection. Paradoxically, Darwins theory is a static, non-evolutionary theory of evolution. The current book sketches the historical background and provides suggestions that may help to replace this approach by the idea of an evolution of evolutionary mechanisms (see Escher's 'Drawing Hands' on the cover). This view even suggests a tendency to overcome the blindness of the knowledge acquisition of primordial Darwinian processes and allows for some freedom from external environments. This book first develops a radically Darwinian approach, then criticises this approach from within. Even Darwinism has a tendency to transcend itself. Although the book addresses several empirical issues, it does not challenge particular findings. Instead it builds on many insights of Darwinism and provides a proposal for interpreting known empirical evidence in a different light. Any entity with a finite life span faces extinction, if it is not reproduced. Evolutionary reproduction must not be completely (100%) perfect, because perfection and evolution mutually exclude each other! On the other hand, this deviation from perfection has to be very small (close to 0%) to be accepted and seen as reproduction. But what is the criterion for perfection, for a (nearly) exact reproduction? A deviation from perfection (mutation) can only be observed and recognised, when the accuracy of measuring is good enough! At this point it needs to be understood that neither reproduction nor the accuracy of measuring will ever be perfect or exact but we call something perfect, when we can't measure a deviation! Evolution is complementary. Reproduction enforces order as orderly structures are easier reproducible than chaotic ones and on the other hand evolution makes a small amount of disorder (mutations) necessary. This complementarity or schizophrenia is the pulse of life, of time, of evolution and of a symbiotic cosmos.

In essence, his theory of evolution consisted of various scenarios, assumptions and conjectures that Darwin dreamed up in his own imagination. According to his evolution scenario, inanimate substances came together by chance to give rise to the first living cell. No doubt this claim was highly inaccurate, and one that could not be corroborated by any scientific evidence or findings. Again according to that myth, this single-celled life form gradually and again by chance turned into the first living species of microbe in other words, it evolved. According to the evolution error, all the life forms on Earth, from bacteria on up to human beings, emerged as the result of this same imaginary process. Darwin's claims were of course based on no scientific evidence or findings. But since the scientific understanding and technological means available at the time were at a fairly primitive level, the full extent of the ridiculous and unrealistic nature of his assertions did not emerge fully into the light of day. In such a climate, Darwin's scenarios received general acceptance from a wide number of circles. - Publisher.
