Skills are offered to neutralize the negativity that interferes with healthy communication. The reader will learn how to tap into positive energy to maintain focus. The goal is to empower you to take control of your life. Exposure to positive and negative forces unseen serves to awaken/focus or manipulate/confuse the inner spirit (light of the Divine Creator). Mastery of essential tools defines the internal experience. We are all engaged at one point or another. Success brings us to the next stage of our continuing journey, serving to raise us to higher levels of awareness. As we accept responsibility for sharpening our own focus, we redefine and come to a greater understanding of what motivates as well as what inhibits us. In doing so, we become an island of calm for ourselves and others immune to illusion. The promise of this book is to help you to embrace the greatness within yourself.

Book excerpt: Virtually everyone—left, right, and center—believes that capitalist economies are autonomous, coherent, and regulated by their own internal laws. This view is an illusion. The reality is that economies organized around the pursuit of private profit are contradictory, incoherent, and heavily shaped by politics and governmental action. But the illusion remains hugely consequential because it has been embraced by political and economic elites who are convinced that they are powerless to change this system. The result is cycles of raised hopes followed by disappointment as elected officials discover they have no legitimate policy tools that can deliver what the public wants. In Capitalism, leading economic sociologist Fred L. Block argues that restoring the vitality of the United States and the world economy can be accomplished only with major reforms on the scale of the New Deal and the post–World War II building of new global institutions.

Book excerpt: This unique volume attempts to answer one of mankind's oldest puzzles -- why the moon appears to be larger and closer on the horizon than when it is high in the sky. Over the centuries, many viable solutions have been proposed for this psychological phenomenon. The Moon Illusion presents papers by major theorists striving to explain the illusion and providing commentaries on the works of others. Research on the moon illusion has been scattered throughout journals in many disciplines including philosophy, physiology, physics, and psychology. As the first publication to present a comprehensive treatment of the problem, this book is of vital interest to professionals whose major concern is visual perception, experimental psychology, or the neurosciences. Of additional interest to those whose focus is physics or astronomy.

Book excerpt: New York Times best-selling author and comedian-turned-motivational speaker, Kyle Cease, shows how your obsession with money is actually preventing you from living the life of your dreams. "I can't afford that." "Now's not the right time . . . I need to save up." "Quit my job? Are you nuts?!" Sound familiar? Money is one of the biggest excuses we make to not go after what we really want. Our fixation with money--the desire for more of it, and the fear of not having enough of it--is often really just a longing to feel safe. But this obsession with money is coming at a much bigger cost: our sanity, our creativity, our freedom, and our ability to step into our true power. This book is about eliminating the need to seek safety through the illusion of money, and learning to see ourselves for the perfection that we are--so that we can bring our gifts to the world in an authentic way, and allow ourselves to receive massive, true abundance as a result. Kyle Cease has heard excuses like the ones above countless times at his live events, and he has shown people how to completely break through them. In The Illusion of Money, he shares his own experiences as well as practical tools to help readers understand their ingrained beliefs and attachments to money, and how they can tap into our infinite assets and talents. "After 25 years as a successful comedian, actor, transformational speaker, author and junior-league amateur bowler, I've experienced many times how chasing money is not an effective way to create an abundant and fulfilling life. The most alive I've ever felt was after I left my comedy career at its peak to become a transformational speaker. I left tons of guaranteed money and so-called security for a complete unknown. It was terrifying--but what was on the other side of that terror was a completely different life that is not only more abundant financially, but has more freedom, more ease, more passion, more impact and more joy." -- Kyle Cease

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analyse, Define, Re-define Are you looking for a better life, one that is more fulfilling? It is often that we look for answers, answers on how to achieve this – answers relating to different themes – subject matters about health, work, relationships, friendships, passion; also themes of emotions such as love, hate, anger, joy, frustration, and happiness. I understand your search for a better life, and your desire to understand how to achieve this in the complex world we live in. Could you have a better life right here and now? The answer is yes! Questions that you should be asking yourself –: What does a better life mean to me? Is my response to life and daily activities a good one? How can I make it better? Do I get the results I’m looking for? Why do I do things the way I do? Am I self-sabotaging myself from having that better life I dream of? What limits my determined efforts to do right? Actually - Who determines right and wrong for me? Whom have I given permission to have control over my very existence and my ability to have a better life? The questions go on and on. You are left in a state of confusion and haven’t gotten further. To begin - You analyse, then define, then re-define. To analyse is to understand. To analyse is for the search of meaning, of purpose, of reason. In search of your happiness, you need to understand yourself. Then you define - You define your thoughts and your perception of things. We then define our actions. Daily self-reflections are necessary as an important part of this process. “Appropriate or not appropriate? Could I have done this better – with more love, with more conviction, with more passion, with less intensity? With less thought? Am I overthinking? Who is the judge of all that I do? Am I my best critique?” – Personal questions with complex answers. Maybe it is just simple. Everything is quite simple once we know how. You set your own standards based on your morals, ethics, culture, and experience. What is your intention for every action? You redefine again, and again and again, until every aspect is polish to your liking, not perfection, but it leads to a better being. The process is simple, and it repeats itself as you continue to seek to live the life of feeling at peace and in oneness with your spirit. It’s life evolution. You are forever changing in thoughts, words, and deeds. Nothing remains the same. Nothing remains forever. Your ideology of a better life is changing too. To live in true oneness of a truly better life, the mind, body, and soul must all be in alignment with the physical and spiritual world. The work in progress is daily, it’s constantly analysing, defining, and redefining all aspects of our being. Each day is therefore a perfect day in our own imperfection. Let us look closer and deeper into how you can live your better life right here, right now. Introduction ... by Nolene Sheppard

Book excerpt: Life in My Eyes is a book created in a spiritual view. There are stories, morals, and hidden messages within this book. This book was created from a sign from God as the author prayed for guidance. He wanted to know how many pages the book should be. He went to the bank, took out 200 dollars for a bill, and on a 20 dollar bill was a sign 500. This is how many poems there are within the book, and twenty represented the age it would get published. This book is very powerful. The imagery is explicit and the rhythm flows. There is great love of poetry. Really good sayings and situations explained the book have a certain format. It can have love poetry mixed with serious poetry, but the middle to end is thrilling. You will see a spiritual side of the author, as there are stories with God throughout the book. Life in My Eyes expands an imagination in a person. This book is valuable; its importance is like a Bible because it can keep you on track. This book shall make you look at life differently. Life in My Eyes is a point of view through one, but it connects to all. It is a big fact of truth. It speaks to the youth. There are poems to famous people who have died, people living, and overall, there is a life-taking message. Readers must carefully look in-depth of the book read between lines, and you will find a special sign. This book travels into your mind; you are away from this world for a moment. Gradually, it comes into your spirit, then you can really hear it, the words of the wise. I bring you Life in My Eyes.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contributes to the understanding of Dionysos, the Greek god of wine, dancing, theatre and ecstasy, by putting together 30 studies of classical scholars. They combine the analysis of specific instances of particular dimensions of the god in cult, myth, literature and iconography, with general visions of Dionysos in antiquity and modern times. Only from the combination of different perspectives can we grasp the complex personality of Dionysos, and the forms of his presence in different cults, literary genres, and artistic forms, from Mycenaean times to late antiquity. The ways in which Dionysos was experienced may vary in each author, each cult, and each genre in which this god is involved. Therefore, instead of offering a new all-encompassing theory that would immediately become partial, the book narrows the focus on specific aspects of the god. Redefinition does not mean finding (again) the essence of the god, but obtaining a more nuanced knowledge of the ways he was experienced and conceived in antiquity.

Book excerpt: This volume takes up the challenge of Canadian women's writing in its diversity, in order to examine the terms on which subjectivity, in its social, political and literary dimensions, emerges as discourse. Work from writers as diverse as Dionne Brand, Hiromi Goto and Margaret Atwood, among others, are studied both in their specific dimensions and through the collective focus of cultural and textual revision which characterizes Canadian writing in the feminine. Current theorizing on the postcolonial imaginary is brought to bear in the interests of forging or unpacking those links which tie the Self to culture. As such, Redefining the Subject sets out to discover the limits of the aesthetic in its encounter with the political: the figures and designs which envisage textual reimaginings as statements of a contemporary Canadian reality.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Redefining Heresy and Tolerance, Hung Tak Wai examines how the Qing empire governed Muslims and Christians under its rule with a non-interventionist policy. Manchu emperors adopted a tolerant attitude towards Islam and Christianity as long as political stability and loyalty remained unthreatened. However, Hung argues that such tolerance had its limitations. Since the mid-eighteenth century, the Qing court intentionally minimised the importance of the Islamic identity. Restrictions were imposed on the Muslims’ external connections with Western Asia. The Christian minority was kept distant from politics and the Han majority. At the same time, Confucian scholars began to acquire a new understanding of religion, but they were not encouraged to get in touch with the Muslims and Christians. This book demonstrates how, from the late eighteenth to the early nineteenth century, the Qing government prevented Confucian scholar-bureaucrats from interfering in the religious life of Christians and Muslims, and how the Confucians’ understanding of ‘religion’ was reshaped during the implementation of such policy in the period. This book reveals that a different kind of ‘religious tolerance’ had already emerged among Sinophone intellectuals before their contact with the West. ‘This book goes beyond the assumption of a homogeneous Han society and pays attention to the religious groups that emerged after the seventeenth century, which differed from, or even contradicted, Confucianism and other Chinese religions, and it is concerned with how such alien communities influenced the development of Confucianism itself.’ —Wang Fan-sen, Academia Sinica ‘This book significantly enriches our comprehension of how early modern Confucians, as adherents of a state/public religion, engaged with Abrahamic religions. By delving into the dynamics of interreligious interaction, Redefining Heresy and Tolerance sheds new light on the encounters between Confucianism and the Abrahamic faiths, offering fresh insights into the complex religious landscape of Asian culture.’ —Huang Chin-shing, Academia Sinica
