Download or read book The Other Worldview written by Peter Jones and published by Kirkdale Press. This book was released on 2015-06-24 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A must-read for every concerned American--and especially for every Christian who weeps at the graveside of his culture." --R.C. Sproul A cataclysmic change has occurred as our culture has shifted toward belief in "Oneism." Every religion and philosophy fits into one of two basic worldviews: "Oneism" asserts that everything is essentially one, while "Twoism" affirms an irreducible distinction between creation and Creator. The Other Worldview exposes the pagan roots of Oneism, traces its spread throughout Western culture, and demonstrates its inability to save. "For bodily holiness and transformed thinking . . . we depend entirely on one amazing thing: the incredibly powerful message of the Gospel to a sinful world, which is the ultimate expression and goal of Twoism. The only hope is in Christ alone."

As this is a Handbook of theological ethics, its essays deal not only with the standard topics of ethics - the goals we ought to seek, the actions we ought to do, the sort of people we should seek to be - but more particularly with the shape moral life takes for those who seek to live as Christians."--BOOK JACKET.
Download or read book Anarchy Evolution written by Greg Graffin and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2010-09-28 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Take one man who rejects authority and religion, and leads a punk band. Take another man who wonders whether vertebrates arose in rivers or in the ocean….Put them together, what do you get? Greg Graffin, and this uniquely fascinating book.” —Jared Diamond, author of Guns, Germs, and Steel Anarchy Evolution is a provocative look at the collision between religion and science, by an author with unique authority: UCLA lecturer in Paleontology, and founding member of Bad Religion, Greg Graffin. Alongside science writer Steve Olson (whose Mapping Human History was a National Book Award finalist) Graffin delivers a powerful discussion sure to strike a chord with readers of Richard Dawkins’ The God Delusion or Christopher Hitchens God Is Not Great. Bad Religion die-hards, newer fans won over during the band’s 30th Anniversary Tour, and anyone interested in this increasingly important debate should check out this treatise on science from the god of punk rock.

Book excerpt: THE UNHEALTHY CHURCH CULTURE Many believers are distraught concerning what they witness going on in their local Black churches today. Ezekiel experienced similar conditions in Israel in his day. The Scripture says, the Israelites were still living in sin and trusting in their own righteousness. God told Ezekiel, “And they come to you as people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear what you say, but they will not do it, for with lustful talk in their mouths they act; their heart is set on gain. And behold, you are to them like one who sings lustful songs with a beautiful voice plays well on an instrument, for they hear what you say, but they will not do it.” (Ezekiel 33:31-32 ESV). The exiles had claimed to go to the prophet to receive God’s revelation, but their behavior was not in compliance with their stated beliefs and values. Their true desire was for entertainment – but not for divine enlightenment. If the fall of Jerusalem failed to spiritually awaken them, nothing would. Yet it would open their eyes to the divine truth of Ezekiel’s preaching! As the church, we must call all cultures along with ourselves in every generation to the rule that judges all other rules – the rule of faith, the Holy Bible! Hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

Download or read book In Search of Authority written by Paul Avis and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2014-03-13 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this new three-part book series, Avis tackles a series of issues relevant to Anglicanism in the current day. The first book, In Search of Authority, seeks to examine Anglican Theology in relation to questions of authority. Anglican theology has been a hotbed of debate about the issue of authority since the Reformation. What do we really appeal to when attempting to decide matters of doctrine, worship, ministry or ethics? The debate is very much alive today, between Evangelical, Liberal and Catholic Anglicans around the world. This book focuses on the understanding of authority in Anglican theology.
