Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is almost six years since the inauguration of the TRON project, a con cept first proposed by Dr. K. Sakamura of the University of Tokyo, and it is almost 2 years since the foundation of the TRON Association on March 1988. The number of regular member companies registered in the TRON Association as of November 1988 is 145 which is a new re cord for the Association. Some of this year's major activities that I would particularly like to mention are: - Over 50 TRON project-related products have been or are about to be introduced to the marketplace, according to a preliminary report from the Future Study Committee of the TRON Association. In par ticular, I am happy to say that the ITRON subproject, which is ahead of the other subprojects, has progressed so far that several papers on ITRON applications will be presented at this conference, which means that the ITRON specifications are now ready for application to em bedded commercial and industrial products.

Book Synopsis Practical Computer Data Communications by : William J. Barksdale
Download or read book Practical Computer Data Communications written by William J. Barksdale and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-13 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several years ago when I began consulting full time, I quickly discovered that despite three advanced academic degrees my practical industrial experience had some significant gaps. It thus was necessary initially to spend considerable (nonbillable) time collecting and organizing a great deal of essential information on the various aspects of modern data communica tions. The task was made more difficult by the highly interdisciplinary nature of the field, with the required information scattered throughout the vast international literature of telecommunications, computers, electrical engineering, military systems, mathematics, operations research, optimiza tion, speech processing, and the murky world oflegal and regulatory policy. Although there were a number of fine books and periodicals in each of these specialized disciplines, I was unable to find a single comprehensive text that covered the entire field at even a modestly attractive technical and mathematical level. After going to the trouble of organizing all this diverse material for my clients and students, it seemed rather natural to put it into book form and thus share it with those professionals working with computer data communi cations who need a comprehensive coverage of the subject at a level immediately applicable to their work and yet easily accessible for self-study. The project was facilitated by an agreeable publisher and an incredibly understanding and cooperative family, and Practical Computer Data Com munications is the result.

Book Synopsis Reconfigurable Computing by : Scott Hauck
Download or read book Reconfigurable Computing written by Scott Hauck and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2010-07-26 with total page 945 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reconfigurable Computing marks a revolutionary and hot topic that bridges the gap between the separate worlds of hardware and software design— the key feature of reconfigurable computing is its groundbreaking ability to perform computations in hardware to increase performance while retaining the flexibility of a software solution. Reconfigurable computers serve as affordable, fast, and accurate tools for developing designs ranging from single chip architectures to multi-chip and embedded systems. Scott Hauck and Andre DeHon have assembled a group of the key experts in the fields of both hardware and software computing to provide an introduction to the entire range of issues relating to reconfigurable computing. FPGAs (field programmable gate arrays) act as the "computing vehicles to implement this powerful technology. Readers will be guided into adopting a completely new way of handling existing design concerns and be able to make use of the vast opportunities possible with reconfigurable logic in this rapidly evolving field. - Designed for both hardware and software programmers - Views of reconfigurable programming beyond standard programming languages - Broad set of case studies demonstrating how to use FPGAs in novel and efficient ways
Book Synopsis Reliability Assessments by : Franklin Richard Nash, Ph.D.
Download or read book Reliability Assessments written by Franklin Richard Nash, Ph.D. and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-07-12 with total page 784 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides engineers and scientists with a single source introduction to the concepts, models, and case studies for making credible reliability assessments. It satisfies the need for thorough discussions of several fundamental subjects. Section I contains a comprehensive overview of assessing and assuring reliability that is followed by discussions of: • Concept of randomness and its relationship to chaos • Uses and limitations of the binomial and Poisson distributions • Relationship of the chi-square method and Poisson curves • Derivations and applications of the exponential, Weibull, and lognormal models • Examination of the human mortality bathtub curve as a template for components Section II introduces the case study modeling of failure data and is followed by analyses of: • 5 sets of ideal Weibull, lognormal, and normal failure data • 83 sets of actual (real) failure data The intent of the modeling was to find the best descriptions of the failures using statistical life models, principally the Weibull, lognormal, and normal models, for characterizing the failure probability distributions of the times-, cycles-, and miles-to-failure during laboratory or field testing. The statistical model providing the preferred characterization was determined empirically by choosing the two-parameter model that gave the best straight-line fit in the failure probability plots using a combination of visual inspection and three statistical goodness-of-fit (GoF) tests. This book offers practical insight in dealing with single item reliability and illustrates the use of reliability methods to solve industry problems.

Book Synopsis Accuracy and Stability of Numerical Algorithms by : Nicholas J. Higham
Download or read book Accuracy and Stability of Numerical Algorithms written by Nicholas J. Higham and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2002-08-01 with total page 690 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Accuracy and Stability of Numerical Algorithms gives a thorough, up-to-date treatment of the behavior of numerical algorithms in finite precision arithmetic. It combines algorithmic derivations, perturbation theory, and rounding error analysis, all enlivened by historical perspective and informative quotations. This second edition expands and updates the coverage of the first edition (1996) and includes numerous improvements to the original material. Two new chapters treat symmetric indefinite systems and skew-symmetric systems, and nonlinear systems and Newton's method. Twelve new sections include coverage of additional error bounds for Gaussian elimination, rank revealing LU factorizations, weighted and constrained least squares problems, and the fused multiply-add operation found on some modern computer architectures.
Book Synopsis Control of Coupled Partial Differential Equations by : Karl Kunisch
Download or read book Control of Coupled Partial Differential Equations written by Karl Kunisch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-08-08 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains selected contributions originating from the ‘Conference on Optimal Control of Coupled Systems of Partial Differential Equations’, held at the ‘Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach’ in April 2005. With their articles, leading scientists cover a broad range of topics such as controllability, feedback-control, optimality systems, model-reduction techniques, analysis and optimal control of flow problems, and fluid-structure interactions, as well as problems of shape and topology optimization. Applications affected by these findings are distributed over all time and length scales starting with optimization and control of quantum mechanical systems, the design of piezoelectric acoustic micro-mechanical devices, or optimal control of crystal growth to the control of bodies immersed into a fluid, airfoil design, and much more. The book addresses advanced students and researchers in optimization and control of infinite dimensional systems, typically represented by partial differential equations. Readers interested either in theory or in numerical simulation of such systems will find this book equally appealing.
