Book Synopsis A Digital Signal Processor for Particle Detectors by : Arild Velure
Download or read book A Digital Signal Processor for Particle Detectors written by Arild Velure and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-12 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To cope with the new running conditions in the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, a new integrated circuit named SAMPA has been created that can process 32 analogue channels, convert them to digital, perform filtering and compression, and transmit the data on high speed links to the data acquisition system. The main purpose of this work is to specify, design, test and verify the digital signal processing part of the SAMPA device to accommodate the requirements of the detectors involved. Innovative solutions have been employed to reduce the bandwidth required by the detectors, as well as adaptations to ease data handling later in the processing chain. The new SAMPA device was built to replace two existing circuits, in addition to reducing the current consumption, and doubling the amount of processing channels. About 50000 of the devices will be installed in the Time Projection Chamber and Muon Chamber detectors in the ALICE experiment.

Book Synopsis Classical and Physical Security of Symmetric Key Cryptographic Algorithms by : Anubhab Baksi
Download or read book Classical and Physical Security of Symmetric Key Cryptographic Algorithms written by Anubhab Baksi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-01 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book consolidates several key aspects from the state-of-the-art research in symmetric key cryptography, which is among the cornerstones of digital security. It presents the content in an informative yet beginner-friendly, accompanied with toy examples and comprehensible graphics. In particular, it highlights the recent developments in tool-assisted analysis of ciphers. Furthermore, promising device-dependent attacks, such as fault attack and side channel attacks on symmetric key ciphers, are discussed in detail. One salient feature of this book is to present a detailed analysis of various fault countermeasures. The coverage of our book is quite diverse—it ranges from prerequisite information, latest research contribution as well as future research directions. It caters to students and researchers working in the field of cryptography.
Book Synopsis Introduction to Ethics by : Chhanda Chakraborti
Download or read book Introduction to Ethics written by Chhanda Chakraborti and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-09-17 with total page 783 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book introduces the reader to western ethics as a subject, along with its three standard subdivisions. Although the book is written with university students, policymakers, and professionals in mind, the book is lucid enough to be accessible to most adult readers. The book begins with introductions to the basics of ethics. These chapters are meant to provide the reader with the background knowledge necessary for understanding the more technical chapters on metaethics, normative ethics theories, and applied ethics, the three well-known subdivisions within ethics. The chapters that follow take up core ethical issues from each of these areas. The sections focus on explanation and a critical understanding of the ethical issue. The chapters also have examples, cases, and exercises to encourage critical thinking and to enable the reader to grasp the issue better. The book has tried to bring contemporary issues, such as ethics of human organ transplantation, and contemporary theories, such as Amartya Sen’s concept of Justice and Martha Nussbaum’s Capabilities Approach, to engage the readers with ethics in the real world. The book concludes with applied ethics, but with the example of ethics of artificial intelligence. The aim is to keep ethics as a future-driven activity and to emphasize the need to understand the real-world ethical situations and dilemmas that will affect the stakeholders all around the world in the coming years as artificial intelligence and data-driven technologies change our everyday life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Health Information Exchange: Navigating and Managing a Network of Health Information Systems, Second Edition, now fully updated, is a practical guide on how to understand, manage and make use of a health information exchange infrastructure, which moves patient-centered information within the health care system. The book informs and guides the development of new infrastructures as well as the management of existing and expanding infrastructures across the globe. Sections explore the reasons for the health information exchange (HIE) infrastructures, how to manage them, examines the key drivers of HIE, and barriers to their widespread use. In addition, the book explains the underlying technologies and methods for conducting HIE across communities as well as nations. Finally, the book explains the principles of governing an organization that chiefly moves protected health information around. The text unravels the complexities of HIE and provides guidance for those who need to access HIE data and support operations. Encompasses comprehensive knowledge on the technology and governance of health information exchanges (HIEs) Presents business school style case studies that explore why a given HIE has or hasn't been successful Discusses the kinds of data and practical examples of the infrastructure required to exchange clinical data to support modern medicine in a world of disparate EHR systems
