This book was released on 2020-05-19 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines journalistic strategies in terms of the appropriation of media logics in the conflict frame-building process. Relying on three models (objectivity, mediatisation and news framing), it interrogates the role orientations and performance of journalists who reported the conflict involving the ‘indigenous’ Christians and Hausa Fulani Muslim ‘settlers’ of Jos, a city in North Central Nigeria inhabited by approximately one million people. The book provides empirical evidence of the strategies and the representations of ethnic and religious identities in the conflict narratives focusing on the most-cited and vicious conflicts in Jos which occurred in 2001, 2008 and 2010. Thus, mediatised conflict research is revisited, placing media logics at the heart of the conflict. The text proposes Solutions-Review Journalism (SRJ) as a framework for conflict reporting, and argues that a review process is necessary to measure impact.

This essential resource offers step-by-step instructions on how to maneuver the admissions process before, during, and after applying. Unlike other guides, Is Grad School for Me? takes an approach that is both culturally relevant and community based. The book is packed with relatable scenarios, memorable tips, common myths and mistakes, sample essays, and templates to engage a variety of learners. With a strong focus on demystifying higher education and revealing the hidden curriculum, this guide aims to diversify a wide range of professions in academia, nonprofits, government, industry, entrepreneurship, and beyond.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In contemporary societies privatization has long ceased to be just an economic concept; rather, it must increasingly be made to refer to the ongoing shrinking of the public space under the impact of the representation of individual lives and images, which cuts across all discourses, genres and media to become one of the primary means of production of culture. This volume is intended to cover such an historical, social and intellectual ground, where self-representation comes to the fore. Targeting mostly an academic readership but certainly also of interest to the general educated public, it collects a wide range of essays dealing with diverse modes of life writing and portraying from a variety of perspectives and focusing on different historical periods and media. It thus offers itself as a major contribution to a better understanding of the world we live in: its past legacy and present configuration.ContentsIntroduction: Signposts of the Self in Modernity Part I. Book excerpt: Written in collaboration with the European Council of Landscape Architecture Schools (ECLAS) and LE: NOTRE, The Routledge Handbook of Teaching Landscape provides a wide-ranging overview of teaching landscape subjects, from geology to landscape design, reflecting different perspectives and practices at university-level landscape curricula. Focusing on the didactics of landscape education, this fully illustrated handbook presents and discusses pedagogy, teaching traditions, experimental teaching methods and new teaching principles. The book is structured into three parts: reading the landscape, representing the landscape and transforming the landscape. Contributions from leading experts in the field, such as Simon Bell, Marc Treib, Jörg Rekittke and Susan Herrington, explore landscape analysis, history and theory, design visualisation, creativity and art, planning studio teaching, field trips and site engineering. Aimed at engaging academic researchers and instructors across disciplines such as landscape architecture, geography, ecology, planning and archaeology, this book is a must-have guide to landscape pedagogy as it stands today.
