Book excerpt: I'm Ivy Clarke. Bartender, best friend, and disbeliever in love. And now I'm in over my head, trying to flip a house all by myself. Thanks, HGTV. I'm not too proud to admit I need some help. Too bad the only one who can help me is the same man I want to throw out this house's second-story window. Jackson Gamble and I can't be in the same room together for more than a minute without devolving into a sparring match. Except for that one time... But enough about that. Jackson's looking for forever, and I don't believe in love, remember? Get in. Renovate. Get out. Keep my heart firmly in tact. Because it's much easier to fix up a house than a broken heart. Full of humor and dripping with delicious tension, Nailed It proves that every heart can be ready for a little rehabilitation, if only you're willing to open it up.

Book Synopsis The Nail and the Oracle by : Theodore Sturgeon
Download or read book The Nail and the Oracle written by Theodore Sturgeon and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2007-07-17 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains ten major stories by the master of science fiction, fantasy, and horror written during the 1960s. The controversial “If All Men We re Brothers, Would You Let One Marry Your Sister?” shows the author’s technique of “ask the next question” used in a way that shatters social conventions. “When You Care, When You Love” offers a prescient vision of the marriage of deep obsessive love and genetic manipulation, written long before actual cloning techniques existed. “Runesmith” constitutes a rare example of Sturgeon collaborating with a legendary colleague, Harlan Ellison. Included also are two other rarities: two detective stories and a Western that showcase Sturgeon’s knack for characterization and action outside his usual genre. “Take Care of Joey” has been read as an allusion to the complex personal relationship between Sturgeon and Ellison, while “It Was Nothing, Really!” hilariously skewers the mores of the military-industrial complex. As always, these stories demonstrate not only Sturgeon’s brilliant wordplay but also his timeliness, with “Brown-shoes” and “The Nail and the Oracle” standing out as powerful commentaries on the use and abuse of power that might have been written yesterday.

Download or read book Nail it Today With Both Hands written by Joe Cox and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-06-13 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Would you have enjoyed being a captive anthropoid in a zoo 100 years ago? Today, modern zoological parks simulate the natural habitats of the species in their sanctuaries. Gorillas and chimps thrive and reproduce. Many are released back into the wild. But in the corporate world management doesn’t seem to know the normal conditions for Homo sapiens to perform at his best, and sadly don’t care to learn. Anthropology, biology, psychology and sociology each teach us what Homo sapiens need to flourish. It is an enriched habitat that satisfies the needs and desires of hominids as they hunt and gather and compete for territory in the Corporate Zoo. Homo sapiens have two motivators that determine the effort they will put into work and how long they will continue doing it. Managers must sustain those motivations - with a two-handed approach that leaves no doubt that it produces profit. At a minimum, readers will figure out what they need from their bosses to fly after their goals. Managers will learn what drives team members and that they are dufuses if they don’t provide it. Companies will rethink the order of their priorities if they want to be more profitable. The tools included in Nail it Today seal the deal in this one-of-a-kind eye-opening revelation on business. You won’t put it down and you can’t ignore it. It hits too hard.
