Download or read book Beautiful Women written by Nancy Bruno and published by BookPros, LLC. This book was released on 2008 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today women are led to believe that beauty can only be achieved through the latest diet, exercise craze, miracle potion, or surgical procedure. In this era of physical perfection, it is sometimes hard to remember that beauty shines from within. It is the untold stories of lifelong experiences-the light, love, hardships, and successes that pour out of the body-that make a person beautiful. Beautiful Women focuses on the life experiences of thirty-five women, of all ages, and what has truly made them beautiful in their present moment. They are the mothers, daughters, wives, and neighbors you see every day-at school and work, in the grocery store, in a doctor's office waiting room, or walking through a mall. Through their stories, women can realize that they are not alone in their insecurity and quest for self-acceptance. These women redefine the word "beauty" by showing us that what makes us beautiful is how we choose to face both the trivial and monumental moments in our lives.
Book Synopsis The Wonder Years by : Leslie Leyland Fields
Download or read book The Wonder Years written by Leslie Leyland Fields and published by Kregel Publications. This book was released on 2018-04-24 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Women past a certain age often feel like they are fading into the background of life. The nest is emptying, limitations are increasing, and fear about aging and the years ahead grow. Even women of faith can feel a waning sense of value, regardless of biblical examples of godly women yielding fruit long after their youth is gone. But despite a youth-obsessed culture, the truth is that the second half of life can often be the richest. It's time to stop dreading and start embracing the wonder of life after 40. Here, well-known women of faith from 40 to 85 tackle these anxieties head-on and upend them with humor, sass, and spiritual wisdom. These compelling and poignant first-person stories are from amazing and respected authors including: Lauren F. Winner Joni Eareckson Tada Elisa Morgan Madeleine L'Engle Kay Warren These women provide much-needed role models--not for aging gracefully but for doing so honestly, faithfully, and with eyes open to wonder and deep theology along the way. Each essay provides insight into God's perspective on these later years, reminding readers that it's possible to serve the kingdom of God and His people even better with a little extra life experience to guide you. The Wonder Years is an inspiring and unforgettable guide to making these years the most fruitful and abundant of your life.

Book excerpt: This collection of incisive articles gives a leading team of international philosophers a free kick toward exploring the complex and often hidden contours of the world of soccer. From the ethics of refereeing to the metaphysics of bent (like Beckham) space-time, this book shows soccer fans and philosophy buffs alike new ways to appreciate and understand the world's favorite sport.
Book Synopsis Wonderful Adventures of Mrs Seacole in Many Lands by : Mary Seacole
Download or read book Wonderful Adventures of Mrs Seacole in Many Lands written by Mary Seacole and published by Courier Dover Publications. This book was released on 2019-05-15 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Famed for her work among the sick and wounded of the Crimean War, Mary Seacole possessed a unique perspective: that of a Victorian-era black woman at a battlefield's front line. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1805, she began her career as a healer by helping her mother nurse British officers at nearby military camps. In the 1850s, her compassion aroused by agonizing reports from Crimea, she headed for England to offer her services. Seacole was denied entry to Florence Nightingale's "angel band" of military nurses, possibly on account of her race. Undaunted, she traveled independently to Crimea to set up accommodations near Balaclava that provided treatment and domestic comforts to convalescing soldiers. Seacole's years of service left her bankrupt and impoverished, but her memoirs, published to popular and critical acclaim in 1857, express no regrets. Humorous and tragic by turns, this autobiography recaptures the voice of a fearless adventurer and humanitarian.
Download or read book I Am written by Jeffrey McNeel and published by Tate Publishing. This book was released on 2010-08 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concerning the blending of Judaism—the original covenant, the law and the prophets, the Old Testament—with that of the Truth, could the Word go further than just annulling the Law of Moses? Our Father addresses this twice, the Son of Man addresses this twice, and Paul interpreted this many times. First, when talking to David in Psalms, the Father says His Son will be a priest of a different order, the eternal high priest not of the order of Aaron. This is confirmed by Paul, who claims that the entire order of Aaron's priesthood, the entire original covenant, was replaced with a better way. Paul states that every Jew of the day knew that a change in the priesthood would of necessity bring a change in the law. The law was not confined to parts of two books in the Torah. It is documented from the Word that Jesus and Paul consistently used the word law to refer to all the books of the prophets; the law was, according to them, never confined to the Law of Moses. This is a strong point and the focus of I Am: The Word on the Blending of Judaism and the Truth. Herein is communicated that Jesus and Paul used the term law to reference Isaiah, Psalms, and other books of the prophets. This is profound, and there can be no mistaking that, to Jesus and Paul, the law included all of the Torah and all of the books of the prophets. What does this mean for you? This gives the commandment 'we are no longer under the law' an entirely new perspective. Read I Am and learn more.

Download or read book My Book of Beautiful Oops! written by Barney Saltzberg and published by Workman Publishing. This book was released on 2017-05-30 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every mistake is an opportunity to make something beautiful. This is the central idea of Beautiful Oops!, Barney Saltzberg’s beloved bestseller—and now My Book of Beautiful Oops!, an interactive journal for young artists, takes that principle into unexpected new directions. A hands-on journal that’s meant to be personalized—drawn in, painted on, torn up, smudged, or otherwise artistically wrecked—My Book of Beautiful Oops! is filled with folded, crumpled, die-cut, and lift-the-flap pages that will challenge the reader’s sense of play. The friendly green alligator from the first book prompts the reader: Bend a page. Decorate a smudge. Play with splats and spills. Even complete a poem that was accidentally ripped in half. My Beautiful Book of Oops! champions imagination, play, and the courage to express oneself. It’s about self-forgiveness, about turning off that inner critic that clamors for perfection. And it’s about freedom—the freedom to be creative and follow your curiosity wherever it goes. That’s a lesson to celebrate.
Book Synopsis When Language Breaks Down by : Elissa D. Asp
Download or read book When Language Breaks Down written by Elissa D. Asp and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2010-02-04 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Doctors, nurses, and other caregivers often know what people with Alzheimer's disease or Asperger's 'sound like' - that is they recognise patterns in people's discourse, from sounds and silences, to words, sentences and story structures. Such discourse patterns may inform their clinical judgements and affect the decisions they make. However, this knowledge is often tacit, like recognising a regional accent without knowing how to describe its features. This is the first book to present models for comprehensively describing discourse specifically in clinical contexts and to illustrate models with detailed analyses of discourse patterns associated with degenerative (Alzheimer's) and developmental (autism spectrum) disorders. The book is aimed not only at advanced students and researchers in linguistics, discourse analysis, speech pathology and clinical psychology but also at researchers, clinicians and caregivers for whom explicit knowledge of discourse patterns might be helpful.

Don’t be upset about it when you can turn it into the roaring mouth of an alligator. An award winning, best-selling, one-of-a-kind interactive book, Beautiful Oops! shows young readers how every mistake is an opportunity to make something beautiful. The goal is for the reader to leave the work with a new sense of priceless value. What is most interesting is that the author gets to your heart and brain with powerful poetry that can assist you with self expression and empowerment.
