Book excerpt: Which sort of seducer could you be? Siren? Rake? Cold Coquette? Star? Comedian? Charismatic? Or Saint? This book will show you which. Charm, persuasion, the ability to create illusions: these are some of the many dazzling gifts of the Seducer, the compelling figure who is able to manipulate, mislead and give pleasure all at once. When raised to the level of art, seduction, an indirect and subtle form of power, has toppled empires, won elections and enslaved great minds. In this beautiful, sensually designed book, Greene unearths the two sides of seduction: the characters and the process. Discover who you, or your pursuer, most resembles. Learn, too, the pitfalls of the anti-Seducer. Immerse yourself in the twenty-four manoeuvres and strategies of the seductive process, the ritual by which a seducer gains mastery over their target. Understand how to 'Choose the Right Victim', 'Appear to Be an Object of Desire' and 'Confuse Desire and Reality'. In addition, Greene provides instruction on how to identify victims by type. Each fascinating character and each cunning tactic demonstrates a fundamental truth about who we are, and the targets we've become - or hope to win over. The Art of Seduction is an indispensable primer on the essence of one of history's greatest weapons and the ultimate power trip. Her abusive husband won't let her get a job, one of her children is dead, and the other is verboten by her husband because he's gay. Her best and only friend, a large black woman who lives next door, worries that Willi's husband will end up killing her. A new woman comes to live in the trailer park and ends up having an affair with Willi's husband. When she finds out, Willi decides to get a job at the local Wal-Mart (a first step on the way to liberating herself from him). Her husband will have none of it, and quoting the bible about how a wife is supposed to obey her husband, threatens all three women with a gun, and then beats Willi to within an inch of her life. She recovers enough to finally shoot him, releasing her from the torment that she'd been living in for years.--From publisher description.
Book Synopsis White Trash Princess by : Molly Price
Download or read book White Trash Princess written by Molly Price and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010-12 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Molly Price isn't a celebrity. She's never been on a reality show or had her name thrown about in the gossip column. But, like so many of us, she has a story to tell. And what a story it is! From an amazingly complicated upbringing with twists and turns that seem at times to be unbelievable, Molly is able to draw you into her world. It's a world that you may find to be completely different from your own, but most likely you'll be able to find so much to relate to as she introduces you to her family, her friends, and a host of situations that will make you giggle and even tear up, often times in the same sentence. Amazingly insightful, Molly understands the value of the little things in life, knowing that at any moment the life she thought she had finally figured out, just might be rocked from its core, and everything changes. It takes a very open mind to be able to see the good in the worst of times, but that is just Molly. Even in cases of the most horrifying memories from her childhood, White Trash Princess offers a new perspective that will make you see things differently, maybe even think about the kind of legacy you hope to leave behind for those in your life...Brook Morello

Book Synopsis 'Trash,' Censorship, and National Identity in Early Twentieth-Century Germany by : Kara L. Ritzheimer
Download or read book 'Trash,' Censorship, and National Identity in Early Twentieth-Century Germany written by Kara L. Ritzheimer and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2016-06-24 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Convinced that sexual immorality and unstable gender norms were endangering national recovery after World War One, German lawmakers drafted a constitution in 1919 legalizing the censorship of movies and pulp fiction, and prioritizing social rights over individual rights. These provisions enabled legislations to adopt two national censorship laws intended to regulate the movie industry and retail trade in pulp fiction. Both laws had their ideological origins in grass-roots anti-'trash' campaigns inspired by early encounters with commercial mass culture and Germany's federalist structure. Before the war, activists characterized censorship as a form of youth protection. Afterwards, they described it as a form of social welfare. Local activists and authorities enforcing the decisions of federal censors made censorship familiar and respectable even as these laws became a lightning rod for criticism of the young republic. Nazi leaders subsequently refashioned anti-'trash' rhetoric to justify the stringent censorship regime they imposed on Germany.

Book Synopsis Too Busy Not to Pray by : Bill Hybels
Download or read book Too Busy Not to Pray written by Bill Hybels and published by IVP Books. This book was released on 2008-05-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For over two decades Too Busy Not to Pray has stood as a classic on prayer, helping Christians all over the world slow down to draw near to God. During those years, the world certainly hasn't slowed down. If anything, the pace, intensity and number of distractions have only increased. Brokenness and pain seem to have increased as well, with news of civil war, poverty, broken families and sex-trafficking touching us daily. The urgent need for prayer is clear, but busyness still keeps many of us from finding time to pray. Two truths haven't changed in all these years: God is the same powerful, just, holy God he's always been; and true prayer—prayer that changes us and allows us to participate in God's work in the world—can't happen on the fly. So Bill Hybels once again offers us his practical, time-tested ideas on slowing down to pray. Revised throughout and including a new introduction and new chapter on prayer and compassion for the world, this twentieth-anniversary edition of Too Busy Not to Pray calls both young and old to make prayer a priority, and broadens our vision for what our eternal, powerful God does when his people slow down to pray.

Some six months later, a unique journey began as Zurlo returned to Italy to fulfill her dream. In her travel journal compiled in the form of dispatches, Zurlo shares a thoughtful, often amusing view of her four-month sabbatical overseas as she immersed herself in the culture of Rome, learned how to climb the seventy-three steps to her apartment without gasping for air, explored Italy, including a search for a family saint, and soaked up an array of experiences. Fifteen Feet from the Pope shares fascinating commentary and photographs from a former Wall Street analyst's unforgettable experiences during her Roman sabbatical.
