Book Synopsis Reservoir Characterization by : Larry Lake
Download or read book Reservoir Characterization written by Larry Lake and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reservoir Characterization is a collection of papers presented at the Reservoir Characterization Technical Conference, held at the Westin Hotel-Galleria in Dallas on April 29-May 1, 1985. Conference held April 29-May 1, 1985, at the Westin Hotel—Galleria in Dallas. The conference was sponsored by the National Institute for Petroleum and Energy Research, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Reservoir characterization is a process for quantitatively assigning reservoir properties, recognizing geologic information and uncertainties in spatial variability. This book contains 19 chapters, and begins with the geological characterization of sandstone reservoir, followed by the geological prediction of shale distribution within the Prudhoe Bay field. The subsequent chapters are devoted to determination of reservoir properties, such as porosity, mineral occurrence, and permeability variation estimation. The discussion then shifts to the utility of a Bayesian-type formalism to delineate qualitative ""soft"" information and expert interpretation of reservoir description data. This topic is followed by papers concerning reservoir simulation, parameter assignment, and method of calculation of wetting phase relative permeability. This text also deals with the role of discontinuous vertical flow barriers in reservoir engineering. The last chapters focus on the effect of reservoir heterogeneity on oil reservoir. Petroleum engineers, scientists, and researchers will find this book of great value.
Book Synopsis Northern Prairie Wetlands by : Arnoud van der Valk

The first chapter deals with the social and economic conditions in the prairie pothole region and their impacts on the perception that farmers, business executive, and politicians in the region have of its wetland. The next three chapters deal with hydrology and water chemistry. They describe the physical and chemical environment of northern prairie wetlands. The flora and fauna are covered in seven chapters. An overview of the ecology of the wetlands of the Nebraska sandhills is provided in the last chapter.

Book Synopsis 3-D Seismic Interpretation by : Bruce S. Hart
Download or read book 3-D Seismic Interpretation written by Bruce S. Hart and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 3-D seismic technology is spreading out beyond the domain of the petroleum industry. The environmental and mining industries and academic groups are collecting and interpreting 3-D seismic data. Increasing numbers of geologists (often with little or no geophysical training) are being exposed to the technology, or results derived therefrom. Despite this interest, there are few opportunities for the practicing geologists (or engineer) to become acquainted with 3-D seismic technology at the appropriate level. This course is an attempt to fill that gap.

Download or read book Victims written by Jan Yager and published by Hannacroix Creek Books. This book was released on 2023-03-13 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second edition of Dr. Jan Yager's classic book on crime victims, published by Scribner in 1978 to rave reviews, is divided into three parts. Part 1 is a 50+ page Introduction researched and written in 2021-2023. Topics covered in that Part include the results of Dr. Yager's original survey of more than 200 men and women about their recent victimization. Part 2 is the first update to the classic book, added in 2015. In that part you will read the extensive interview with Debra Puglisi-Sharp, author of Shattered, who was raped and held hostage for several days by the kidnapper who also killed her husband. Part 3 is the original classic book. However, Dr. Yager has updated the original statistics and has selectively revised the text, where needed. The in depth interviews are still pertinent and memorable. Topics covered in Part 3 are the victims of homicide; property crime victims; aggravated assault and family violence victims; victims of rape and child sexual abuse; compensation to victims, and more. Review of the first edition (Part 3): "...recreates the emotions of the victim (and the secondary victim) with a directness and clarity that is impossible to ignore."-Washington Post ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dr. Jan Yager, the former J.L. (Janet Lee) Barkas, is a well-regarded victimologist/criminologist/sociologist whose 50+ books include the textbook Essentials of Victimology: Crime Victims, Theories, Controversies, and Victims' Rights, published by Aspen Publishing in 2022 as well as When Friendship Hurts, published by Simon & Schuster with translations into 29 languages. Dr. Yager's interest in the criminal justice system and crime victims started in her twenties because of a tragedy: the mugging of her older brother Seth Alan Barkas by a teenage gang. Her brother died a few days later from his stab wounds. Dr. Yager went on to get an MA in Criminal Justice at Goddard College Graduate Program, under the mentorship of Dr. Arthur Niederhofer, a Professor in John Jay College of Criminal Justice's Sociology Department, followed by a Ph.D. in Sociology at the Graduate Center of City University of New York.
