Book Synopsis Steal This Computer Book 4.0 by : Wallace Wang
Download or read book Steal This Computer Book 4.0 written by Wallace Wang and published by No Starch Press. This book was released on 2006-05-06 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you thought hacking was just about mischief-makers hunched over computers in the basement, think again. As seasoned author Wallace Wang explains, hacking can also mean questioning the status quo, looking for your own truths and never accepting at face value anything authorities say or do. The completely revised fourth edition of this offbeat, non-technical book examines what hackers do, how they do it, and how you can protect yourself. Written in the same informative, irreverent, and entertaining style that made the first three editions hugely successful, Steal This Computer Book 4.0 will expand your mind and raise your eyebrows. New chapters discuss the hacker mentality, social engineering and lock picking, exploiting P2P file-sharing networks, and how people manipulate search engines and pop-up ads to obtain and use personal information. Wang also takes issue with the media for "hacking" the news and presenting the public with self-serving stories of questionable accuracy. Inside, you’ll discover: –How to manage and fight spam and spyware –How Trojan horse programs and rootkits work and how to defend against them –How hackers steal software and defeat copy-protection mechanisms –How to tell if your machine is being attacked and what you can do to protect it –Where the hackers are, how they probe a target and sneak into a computer, and what they do once they get inside –How corporations use hacker techniques to infect your computer and invade your privacy –How you can lock down your computer to protect your data and your personal information using free programs included on the book’s CD If you’ve ever logged onto a website, conducted an online transaction, sent or received email, used a networked computer or even watched the evening news, you may have already been tricked, tracked, hacked, and manipulated. As the saying goes, just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t after you. And, as Wallace Wang reveals, they probably are. The companion CD contains hundreds of megabytes of 100% FREE hacking and security related programs, like keyloggers, spyware stoppers, port blockers, IP scanners, Trojan horse detectors, and much, much more. CD compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux.

This discipline addresses posture, clothing, diet, de-scenting, and “soft-walking,” the ultra-slow-motion technique that falls below the radar of wildlife’s peripheral vision. · how to read individual tracks and multiple gaits of specific animal species. · how to convert animal skins into rawhide and leather for crafts and clothing. · how to differentiate species of snakes and, in the process, demystify their often misunderstood intentions. The second half of the book is dedicated to games. Its main purpose is to ensure that young ones (under an adult leader) simply have fun on an outing and will want to return to nature for another adventure. Some of these games come from Native American traditions, but many are new and range from “high-action” to “pensive around the campfire” kinds of activities. This volume contains more than one hundred fifty original adventures.

Book excerpt: The Victim's Guide to Surviving the Narcissist/Sociopath Updated and its first position 300-plus page Pre-Book is a two books-in-one book designed to assist victims of covert spousal predators and their support persons understand the reality of the covert spousal predator (i.e. the narcissist, malignant narcissist, sociopath/psychopath, dual diagnosed/dual diagnosable, narcopath). This material delves into the worst case scenario possible for the spousal victim as well as common red flags, exploitation, strip-mining, predatory take-ALL agenda and abuse patterns perpetrated by the covert spousal predator in his/her hunting prime and afterward when the predator decompensates. Many valuable references are provided throughout this book for further education/research and understanding. Readers are strongly encouraged to continue their review of material created by all of the referenced educators and authors listed in this book. Moreover, the top mistakes made by victims, support persons for victims, professionals, law enforcement and others are detailed in the hopes that readers will avoid making as many of these errors as they face various scenarios with the predator or predators in their lives or in the lives of others they are attempting to assist. For spousal victims in the worst case scenario with an empowered/aided and abetted covert spousal predator (i.e. situations where common minor children are involved) this book covers topics typically not touched in the material of others. This book is not about overt spousal predators (i.e. abusers whose victims can effectively use the system and/or domestic violence shelter assistance to flee) though overt predators perpetrate many of the same abuse patterns minus the skill of becoming aided and abetted via abuse by proxy scams, which are commonly the mainstay of the covert predator's take-ALL agenda.
Book Synopsis Stop Domestic Violence by : Louis Brown
Download or read book Stop Domestic Violence written by Louis Brown and published by St. Martin's Griffin. This book was released on 2014-11-11 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thanks to the Simpson case, domestic violence is no longer a dirty little secret. It remains, however, a devastating problem, and even more, a deadly killer. What is the answer? In 1994, Lou Brown, father of Nicole Brown Simpson, gave us one solution by establishing a foundation in his daughter's name that provides urgently needed funding to battered women's shelters across the country. Now he goes a step further, and with the help of a like-minded pastor and a legal activist who has been battered, offers hope and practical strategies for combating domestic violence. In a book whose first half is geared to support network people like himself--parents, families, friends, both personal and professional, and acquaintances who can and should make a difference--and whose second half is directed at the victims of abuse, here is an action plan for battered women and those around them. Stop Domestic Violence offers a checklist for the victim of domestic violence, from obtaining restraining orders to getting the support network on her side. Here are steps on how to combat battering within families, within communities, within homes and at the legislative level. For Concerned Friends and Family: - What makes these men do it, and is there a cure for them? - Why do women stay? - What can I do to help a battered woman? And for the Victim--How do I: - Get stronger on the inside? - Deal with the legal system? - Stay sane in a shelter? - Stay save and begin recovery? This is a how-to book--practical, easy to use--and it just might save a life.
Book Synopsis Case Studies in Applied Behavior Analysis for Individuals with Disabilities (2nd Ed.) by : Keith Storey
Download or read book Case Studies in Applied Behavior Analysis for Individuals with Disabilities (2nd Ed.) written by Keith Storey and published by Charles C Thomas Publisher. This book was released on 2023-01-24 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book responds to a critical need for highly qualified personnel who will become exemplary professionals because of their advanced knowledge, skills, and experiences in working with students and adults that have varying disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Since Board Certification for behavior analysts was introduced, there has been an expansion of training programs in Applied Behavior Analysis to meet the demands from school districts, health insurers, and families. In spite of these developments, a case studies book has not been available that uses the Behavior Analyst Certification Board Task List, Fifth Edition (BACB) guidelines for educating individuals receiving their BCBA, or for those in the field such as teachers, and service providers. The goal of this book is to fill that need. In this newly revised second edition, eighteen case studies are provided—case studies with complete analysis, case studies with partial analysis, and case studies without analysis. The first six cases present a complete analysis, which allows the reader to analyze and develop a comprehensive Positive Behavior Support Plan containing detailed answers and supporting data systems. The second six case studies include the areas from the BACB Task List, and the items are most relevant for analysis, but the analysis is not complete. This enables the reader to complete the analysis themselves which will promote skill building. The final six case studies do not contain an analysis or guideline. This allows the reader to further develop their skills by creating their own guidelines for analysis and implementing their plan. The use of this text will improve the comprehensive analysis and coverage of the developing supports for individuals with disabilities, provide direct applicability to applied settings, and the ability to use the case studies for assignments and/or exams. The format, readability, and detailed description of instructional methodology makes this text a valued resource for instructors and behavior analysts responsible for improving the skills of people with disabilities.
