Each type of dementia has its own set of signs and symptoms, which uniquely affect the brain. All people progress differently through the stages. This in-service focuses on the early stage of dementia. Home health aides are front-line caregivers for the elderly in the home setting, and may be the first to see these signs and symptoms as they appear, or be assigned to care for a newly diagnosed dementia patient. Therefore, they will be in the home when the patient and family are adjusting to the new needs of the patient.
