Book excerpt: "TANTRA ! - 52 rituals to blossom love " is a practical guide for couples wishing to explore and deepen their emotional, spiritual and sexual connection through tantra - tantra's aim to awaken our spirituality by using sexual energy as a sacred force for transformation and healing. The introduction explains the origins of tantra, an age-old spiritual and philosophical tradition, as well as its benefits today. The book details different types of Tantric rituals that cover the entire Tantra spectrum: Anchoring rituals enable couples to root themselves in the present moment and establish a deep energetic connection. Emotional connection rituals are an invitation to explore the complexity of human emotions and discover the beauty and power of the emotional bond in a relationship. Sensuality rituals explore conscious caressing, tantric dance and sensory exploration to awaken sensuality and mutual attraction. Intimacy rituals teach how to merge yin and yang energies, chakras and the rise of sexual energy to deepen intimacy between partners. Ecstasy rituals reveal the secrets of orgasmic breathing, sacred fire and pleasure transcendence for ecstatic and spiritual experiences. Healing rituals help release emotional blockages, reconcile the feminine and masculine, and heal relational wounds. Joy rituals allow you to awaken joy and experience it together in different situations. Celebration rituals invite couples to express gratitude, appreciate shared love and honor their sacred union. Sacred Sexuality Rituals discuss the practice of sacred sexuality and how it can help partners reach a higher state of consciousness, thereby strengthening their mutual understanding and spiritual union. A final chapter offers advice and suggestions for integrating Tantra into daily life, overcoming challenges and obstacles, and supporting the couple's growth and evolution. In its conclusion, the book underlines the gentle power of tantra to foster unconditional love and spiritual awakening. Through the practice of these 52 tantric rituals based on ancient practices, couples will be able to open their hearts to the joy of existing, and live a more authentic and fulfilling love life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tantra is a family of rituals modeled on those of the Vedas and their attendant texts and lineages. These rituals typically involve the visualization of a deity, offerings, and the chanting of his or her mantra. Common variations include visualizing the deity in the act of sexual union with a consort, visualizing oneself as the deity, and "transgressive" acts such as token consumption of meat or alcohol. Most notoriously, non-standard or ritualized sex is sometimes practiced. This accounts for Tantra's negative reputation in some quarters and its reception in the West primarily as a collection of sexual practices. Although some today extol Tantra's liberating qualities, the role of women remains controversial. Traditionally there are two views of women and Tantra. Either the feminine is a metaphor and actual women are altogether absent, or Tantra involves the transgressive use of women's bodies to serve male interests. Loriliai Biernacki presents an alternative view, in which women are revered, worshipped, and considered worthy of spiritual attainment. Her primary sources are a collection of eight relatively modern Tantric texts written in Sanskrit from the 15th through the 18th century. Her analysis of these texts reveals a view of women that is generally positive and empowering. She focuses on four topics: 1) the "Kali Practice," in which women appear not only as objects of reverence but as practitioners and gurus; 2) the Tantric sex rite, especially in the case that, contrary to other Tantric texts, the preference is for wives as ritual consorts; 3) feminine language and the gendered implications of mantra; and 4) images of male violence towards women in tantric myths. Biernacki, by choosing to analyse eight particular Sanskrit texts, argues that within the tradition of Tantra there exists a representation of women in which the female is an authoritative, powerful, equal participant in the Tantric ritual practice.

It is not a tantric sex how-to-do-it manual, though it does show new ideas and ways to experience the love relationship and the love ritual. This book does not contain any sexual images, though it does contain tantric metaphor and figurative language. This book is more about unique kinds of experience - different perspectives, attitudes, and ways of being in the love ritual. It is about different ways of loving and different kinds of lovers. Moreover, it's about understanding oneself and the other. The emphasis is mostly on increasing one's understanding of the spiritual powers and energies potentially involved in the love-sex experience, and also having an attitude of spontaneity and exploration, so that we are always in wonder and discovery in the magic of love. Yet any real learning about this whole subject, as well as any increase of one's love powers, will have to come from personal experience - from exploration and discovery. So all that this teaching can provide are ideas and suggestions to explore. This book is primarily about the powers and qualities of Goddesses - in relation to sexual love and the love ritual. Our main focus here is on four love Goddesses, their unique powers and qualities, as well as their unique attitudes and approaches in the love-sex relationship, as manifested through a woman. These goddesses can also be understood as love archetypes; each with a distinctly unique power and quality, attitude and approach. Each woman will recognize at least one of these goddesses in her self-experience, perhaps even a few, or maybe all four goddesses in varying degrees. Part Two focuses on the spiritual sacredness of each other, in love and in love-making, and how to spiritually experience one another as manifestations and expressions of the Great Divine. In this are ideas and ways to greatly enhance and spiritualize the love experience for both lovers, woman and man. The man will begin to see his woman lover as the expression of one of the Love Goddesses, or even as the Goddess Herself. He will experience the woman as the Goddess loving him, and he will be worshiping and devoting himself to Her. Likewise, the woman will begin to see her man lover as the expression of the Divine Love God. She will be the Divine Attraction and he the Divine Force. He will be the Divine loving her, and she will be the Divine loving him. Then both will come back into Union as One. Part Three focuses on the Great Goddess Shakti and her spiritual love relationship with the Great God Shiva. Tantric love, at its heights of realization, is the love play and enjoyment between Shiva and Shakti, and their eventual re-union as being really One Being. Here we find juicy love metaphors at its erotic depths. The goddesses, Kali and Maya, also come into this love play.

Book excerpt: Tantra. The word conjures forth a million images - including sex, transgressive practices, and the occult. But how accurate are these portrayals, and how do they compare to actual Tantric practices in India? To the casual observer, Tantra appears to partake of an oppositional role in regard to Vedic teachings, but this conceals a much more conservative core, for the Tantric traditions actually strive to reinforce their Vedic heritage. The Tantras are believed to be the appropriate teaching in the Kali Yuga, and understanding the role that the Kali Yuga plays in Tantric traditions is absolutely vital to interpreting the nature of Tantra itself. Contrary to being opposed to Vedic teachings, Tantra is actually an extension of them - it is a reinterpretation of the Vedas for the modern era.In addition to explaining the complex role Tantra plays within the larger corpus of Hinduism, Tantric Traditions also examines the way in which Tantra is linked to sacred geographical locations, and provides explanations on the nature of Siva, the Devi, the role of the Traditionalist School in the export of Tantric traditions to the West, and reveals secret mantra techniques.Furthermore, Tantric Traditions provides details on magical and esoteric practices from authentic Tantric occult texts such as the Mantramahodadhi of Mahidara (c.1588 CE) and the Vinasikhatantra, both of which make even the most infamous European Grimoires look totally harmless by comparison.CONTENTSIntroductionPART I Gods, Sacred Sites, & the Kali YugaShiva: Naṭarāja, Śankara, & Higher ConsciousnessNataraja - Shankara - Yoga - ShamanismThe Devi: From Satī to KālīSati - Parvati - Durga - Kali - DraupadiTopographical ReligiosityKashi - Tirtha-Yatra - Shakta PithasTantra, the Kali Yuga, and the Occidental TraditionalistKali Yuga - Yuga Sastra - Traditionalism PART II Origins, Rituals, & Esoteric TeachingsThe Point of OriginDefinition - History - Rta - Dharma - Kali YugaSacred TransgressionPower - Impurity - Left Hand Path - Right Hand Path Lexicographical GnoseologyBhaskararaya - Abhinavagupta - Mantra Encryption - Formulas - Rasa - Philosophy of SoundMagico-Religious PracticesCharms - Siddhi - Mantramahodadhi of Mahidhara - Vinasikhatantra - Alchemy - Magical PracticesAppendix IOccult FormulaAppendix IITables of Correspondences

Book excerpt: Abhinavagupta, a leading figure in Kashmir Saivism is increasingly being recognised as one of the chief contributors to the evolution of Indian thought. In his encyclopaedic work the Tantraloka 'Light on the Tantras' he describes the various tantras of his day and places at their apex the most extreme of them, the Kula ritual which proposes the use of wine and meat and intercourse with women of the lowest castes. In Abhinavagupta's esteem of the Kula ritual just the shodow side of genius an aberration best forgotten? This work is a translation-the first into english of any chapter of the Tantraloka of Abhinavagupta's version of the Kula ritual.
