Book Synopsis Merika, Love Poems by : David Robert Jones
Download or read book Merika, Love Poems written by David Robert Jones and published by DaveyRJones. This book was released on 2013-04-30 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Merika, Love Poems uses free-form, poetical choruses to laud, love, loathe, lambaste, and lecture on modern society, politics, and empire. MLP tells about shedding the young and deluded belief in the sanctity of the American Dream; encountering, grappling with, and accepting the truth about injustices and inequalities born of immunity from consequences; and quitting the narcotic of capitalistic mania. MLP sings about every person pouring personal vices into a social-economic-political system and claiming victimization from the byproduct. MLP chronicles the attempt to reclaim responsibility and morality, the attempt to formulate honest living, even when such honesty costs painful self-reflection. MLP is first and foremost a love story, just not the kind of love story that ends, necessarily, with happily ever after.

Download or read book Radio Drama written by Martin Grams, Jr. and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2024-10-16 with total page 585 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The free-standing radios of the middle decades of the 20th century were invitingly rotund and proudly displayed--nothing like today's skinny televisions hidden inside "entertainment centers." Radios were the hub of the family's after-dinner activities, and children and adults gorged themselves on western-adventure series like "The Lone Ranger," police dramas such as "Calling All Cars," and the varied offerings of "The Cavalcade of America." Shows often aired two or three times a week, and many programs were broadcast for more than a decade, comprising hundreds of episodes. This book includes more than 300 program logs (many appearing in print for the first time) drawn from newspapers, script files in broadcast museums, records from NBC, ABC and CBS, and the personal records of series directors. Each entry contains a short broadcast history that includes directors, writers, and actors, and the broadcast dates and airtimes. A comprehensive index rounds out the work.

Download or read book Burgh Blonde written by April Marie and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-02-01 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Meet me, Burgh Blonde, Pittsburgh’s token single girl. This book picks up where Sex and the City left off but with a blue-collar, working-class American twist. In Pittsburgh, we’re known for our sports teams, Primanti’s sandwiches, and kitschy yinzer language. This book puts into context exactly what it’s like to date men from the City of Champions and what a woman has to put up with when we are growing more successful and independent while the men are reverting back to cavemen. This book is not for the faint of heart. There is sex, foul language, and magical metaphors to keep you hooked from start to finish. These eighteen short stories give you an up-close-and-personal look into my private sex life and all the dirty hijinks that comes with it. After reading this book, you will know what it’s like to give a BJ to a UFC fighter, have a three-way on an official Air Force barracks, how to have sex with a furry, and dare I say, even weirder stuff. Not only will the ladies of all ages enjoy reading about the ridiculous men in this book, but also, men will be fascinated to know what women really think of them because in Burgh Blonde, I spill all the tea. For as long as I remember, I’ve been making people laugh with my stories and comedy. That’s why I finally decided to give the people what they’ve been asking for. I am in no way a great literary author. I am simply a single girl with a ton of funny sex stories. So put your feet up, open a nice bottle of wine, and prepare yourself for a hilarious walk in this single gal’s heels.
Book Synopsis Speaking of Harpo by : Susan Fleming Marx
Download or read book Speaking of Harpo written by Susan Fleming Marx and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2022-07-15 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Susan Fleming appeared in three Broadway shows and twenty-eight films before she turned her back on a show business career she never really enjoyed or wanted. The role of her lifetime came when she married Harpo Marx in 1936. Together, they raised four adopted children and enjoyed one of Hollywood's happiest and most successful unions. But their twenty-year age difference made Susan a young widow in 1964. On her path to Hollywood, Susan worked in Broadway musicals produced by Florenz Ziegfeld and George White and befriended a young dancer who would later be known as Paulette Goddard. In Hollywood, she appeared in films with stars like John Wayne, W.C. Fields, and Katharine Hepburn and worked at all the major studios. But it wasn't until she fell in love with a confirmed bachelor, twenty years older than her, that she found her purpose. Her story is the counterpoint to the beloved and acclaimed Harpo Marx autobiography, Harpo Speaks! Susan's frank, opinionated perspective provides a true look behind the curtain and details Harpo's last years, following the publication of his own book. Susan's account of her more than thirty-year adventure with Harpo includes encounters with people like Charlie Chaplin, William Randolph Hearst, Salvador Dalí, Somerset Maugham, Joan Crawford, Howard Hughes, George S. Kaufman, Helen Keller, Oscar Levant, Jean Harlow, Bugsy Siegel, Samuel Goldwyn, Menachem Begin, Ginger Rogers, Alexander Woollcott, and of course, the Marx Brothers. Susan provides an inside look at the family and pulls no punches when discussing her brothers-in-law, who weren't always her favorite comedians.

Her only friend is Jerome, an anorexic drag queen who searches for love among the sailors. Download or read book Making a Massacre written by Tom Reilly and published by John Hunt Publishing. This book was released on 2024-06-28 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If history were music, then the genre of this book would be punk. For nearly 400 years, it has been widely accepted that Oliver Cromwell committed civilian atrocities at Drogheda and Wexford in 1649, thus adversely infecting Anglo-Irish relations for that entire period. As well as other events in Irish history, Cromwell in Ireland has often been weaponised in the North of Ireland. Still, today, emotions about this topic run very deep. Imagine for a moment that Cromwell is completely innocent of these charges of genocide: the overwhelming verdict of history thus far. Imagine also a scenario in which this anomaly in the teaching of Irish history were discovered by a non-historian, an amateur who failed second-level history. This is that story. This is an accurate (and sideways) account of one man's lone battle to overturn this miscarriage of historical justice - two middle fingers to mainstream academia. Most significantly, this is the story of the pushback the author has encountered from academics, in general, who have closed ranks in their reluctance to embrace incontrovertible facts. This is the uncomfortable truth that challenges Ireland's role of the ultimate victim of the seventeenth century's conflicts and how this historical period has been - and still is - profoundly abused to suit the Saorstát Éireann narrative.
