This book was released on 1994 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Laser induced cavitation buble dynamics has been observed by high-speed photography. The bubble growth and contraction during the early phase of the first collapse was found to be of spherical form. A second shock wave is radiated during cavitation bubble collapse. A counterjet occured at the top of the bubble and protusion occured at the bottom part due to the Bjerkness effect. The impulsive pressure due to the impact of the jet on the solid surface was estimated to be 150 MPa with a pressure duration of 0.3 usec and the calculated stagnation pressure was 5 MPa. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 485 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains papers presented at the IUTAM Symposium on Bubble Dynamics and Interface Phenomena held at the University of Birmingham from 6-9 September 1993. In many respects it follows on a decade later from the very successful IUTAM Symposium held at CALTECH in June 1981 on the Mechanics and physics of bubbles in liquids which was organised by the late Milton Plesset and Leen van Wijngaarden. The intervening period has seen major development with both experiment and theory. On the experimental side there have been ad vances with very high speed photography and data recording that provide detailed information on fluid and interface motion. Major developments in both computer hardware and software have also led to extensive improvement in our understand ing of bubble and interface dynamics although development is still limited by the sheer complexity of the laminar and turbulent flow regimes often associated with bubbly flows. The symposium attracts wide and extensive interest from engineers, physical, chemical, biological and medical scientists and applied mathematicians. The sci entific committee sought to achieve a balance between theory and experiment over a range of fields in bubble dynamics and interface phenomena. It was our intention to emphasise both the breadth and recent developments in these various fields and to encourage cross-fertilisation of ideas on both experimental techniques and theo retical developments. The programme, and the proceedings recorded herein, cover bubble dynamics, sound and wave propagation, bubbles in flow, sonoluminescence, acoustic cavitation, underwater explosions, bursting bubbles and ESWL.
Book Synopsis The Micro-World Observed by Ultra High-Speed Cameras by : Kinko Tsuji
Download or read book The Micro-World Observed by Ultra High-Speed Cameras written by Kinko Tsuji and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-08-30 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is about ultra high-speed cameras, which enable us to see what we normally do not see. These are objects that are moving very fast, or that we just ignore. Ultra high-speed cameras invite us to a wonderland of microseconds. There Alice (the reader) meets a ultra high-speed rabbit (this volume) and travels together through this wonderland from the year 1887 to 2017. They go to the horse riding ground and see how a horse gallops. The rabbit takes her to a showroom where various cameras and illumination devices are presented. Then, he sends Alice into semiconductor labyrinths, wind tunnels, mechanical processing factories, and dangerous explosive fields. Sometimes Alice is large, and at other times she is very small. She sits even inside a car engine. She falls down together with a droplet. She enters a microbubble, is thrown out with a jet stream, and finds herself in a human body. Waking up from her dream, she sees children playing a game: “I see what you do not see, and this is....”. Alice thinks: “The ultra high-speed rabbit showed me many things which I had never seen. Now I will go again to this wonderland, and try to find something new.
Book Synopsis In Fascination of Fluid Dynamics by : Arie Biesheuvel
Download or read book In Fascination of Fluid Dynamics written by Arie Biesheuvel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Fascination of Fluid Dynamics contains a collection of papers by international experts in hydrodynamics, based on oral presentations at a symposium held in honour of Professor Leen van Wijngaarden on his 65th birthday. The book begins with a personal sketch of his life and scientific career. It continues with a mixture of papers that address recent developments in various branches of fluid mechanics. Many of the papers cover different aspects of multiphase flows: bubble dynamics, cavitation, bubbles and particles in turbulent flows, suspension flows, and wave phenomena in fluidised beds. Other topics that are addressed include: dynamics of jets, shock waves, MHD turbulence, selforganisation phenomena in 2D turbulence, vortex rings and the thermodynamics of tropical cyclones. This edited volume will be valuable reading for researchers, engineers and students interested in hydrodynamics, and in particular in multiphase flows.

Book Synopsis The Acoustic Bubble by : T. G. Leighton
Download or read book The Acoustic Bubble written by T. G. Leighton and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1997-06-03 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The wide range of important applications concerning the acoustic interactions of bubbles necessitates a book of this form which, utilising analogy, description, and formulation, gives a 'physical feel' for the phenomena, whilst also providing thoroughly for mathematically adept readers. The first half of the book introduces and draws together acoustics, cavitation nucleation and associated fluid dynamics, to examine the free oscillations of bubbles and the resulting acoustic emissions. In the second half, the behaviour and consequences of bubbles in externally-applied acoustic fields is discussed in detail, including the cavitational aspects of erosion and bioeffects. Throughout the book topics drawn from a variety of disciplines, and include: . Bubble and cavitation detection . Bioeffects of clinical ultrasound . Oceanic bubble populations . Sonochemistry . Ultrasonic degassing . Weather sensing There is an extensive bibliography.

Book Synopsis The Liquid Micro Jet from Laser Induced Cavitation Bubbles by : Jack Elias Abboud
Download or read book The Liquid Micro Jet from Laser Induced Cavitation Bubbles written by Jack Elias Abboud and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A cavitation bubble grows spherically in an infinite medium to a maximum radius, collapses to a minimum volume while retaining its spherical shape, and then may rebound for a second or more oscillations before it disintegrates into many mic ro bubbles. However, when the bubble collapses above a blank solid boundary, a f ast liquid micro-jet is formed owing to the asymmetry of the surrounding flow fi eld. The jet starts by penetrating the upper bubble wall, impacts the lower side of the bubble and then continues its path towards the wall, leading to a deform ation in the bubble. This fast micro-jet seems to be responsible for cavitation erosion and damage in hydro-machinery. In this work, we are motivated by the fas t liquid micro-jet formation from laser-induced cavitation bubbles and the poten tial for cultivating this jet for a variety of applications such as micro surger y of soft tissue. If a hole is intentionally drilled in the solid boundary under neath the collapsing bubble, it is hypothesized that the jet might pass through and be cultivated on the other side of the hole. Bubbles will be generated in an infinite medium, as well as above blank and drilled solid boundaries. Investiga tions will be focused on the dynamics of the bubble and jet, as a function of th eir distance to the wall for the case of blank solid boundary, and as function o f the hole diameter once a hole is present in the wall.
