We see here how the promise of our partaking of the divine Life arises in the religious history of humanity and culminates in the humanizing of the divine and the divinizing of the human. We consider the scientific account of the origin and nature of different kinds of life in the Universe. And it is in this context that we come to see that the progressive elevation of matter in the history of the Universe reaches its climax and consummation in the descent of the divine Life - a theophany most evident today in the celebration that was in ancient times described as the Discipline of the Secret.

Book excerpt: There is indeed a Heaven. Heaven, it is said, is the quintessential place for only clean souls that had earlier experienced the earth. Though the general assumption is that only dead people can have access to this “Gorgeous place,” humans have been inside it, and the Bible says so. Heaven, however, is not what the Church has made it out to be. For the Church, Heaven is a tool. The Bible tells us what Heaven is, but the Church interprets Heaven to be what they want it to be. In The Real Proof of Heaven: What & Where Is It? we take you on a profound journey into the heart of ancient mind-set and practices, revealing a breathtaking, hidden reality that will transform your life forever and in many ways. We will literarily take you to Heaven. We are able to take you to the real Heaven because the Ages are exposing the hidden secrets to Mankind. You will see and understand what Heaven is. Far from offering simple interpretations, platitudes, and general principles, The Real Proof of Heaven: What & Where Is It drags you out of the surprisingly archaic thinking that gave us the biblical Heaven in the world of the ancients through various ages while using modern knowledge as a guide. Yes, you will literarily see Heaven as it is because Heaven is as real in the Bible as it is real today. It is physical. It is out there floating in space as one of the biggest spaceships unlimited and uninhibited by space. Heaven is in this universe, in this dimension and with time, someday, humans will start to interact with it. While presenting you with all the incredible evidence to support this, you will discover for yourself that modernity has not put a dent in how or what the ancients thought, believed, and worshipped compared to religious practices of modern people. They were/are the same concepts as people older than us have inferred in their ancient testimonies. The perspectives between the old and new are still the same even while modern peoples spin the same old practices as if it has been koshered. It will be disheartening that many people will have to go to their graves believing what they believe—a lie. The biggest lies of them all—a Heaven and a Hell. Religious texts must be radically and truthfully interpreted as the Ages open up its hidden knowledge to Mankind. Misinterpretation is one reason the pages seem lost on theistic ears already dejected, listening to the words coming out of the mouth of a preacher who is struggling to make a story line out of the texts written thousands of years ago. Millions of people have believed in teachings that were intended for disinformation. They believed because, in the eyes of the innocent, the teachings appear to be convincing and true. If you don’t believe their teachings, they convince you that there is a thing called faith. When that fails, they describe your culture and practices as paganism and Satanism. They make you feel less of a human and even threaten your well-being and life. They are succeeding, especially with the promise of Heaven or Hell in an afterlife as your only two choices. Any attempt and indeed all the attempts to convince you and me, one way or the other, about a proof of a Heaven, is disingenuous and will remain disingenuous. There is no way as a material being that you could interpret the immaterial. It is near impossible. It is even crazy to try and think of it. Whether they say it is by Near Death Experience (NDE), don’t cut it. It does not work that way. Near death experiences is not death. A near miss after shooting a game is not same as a kill. Near death experiences are not the real transformation to another dimension. If a bird dodged my catapult shot, the bird was not near death. The bird might not even know that it has been shot at. Death is death, not near death. Near death experiences are like experiences between dreams and lives: you don’t know what dimension you were in in both experiences until you wake up.

Book excerpt: Bread from Heaven offers a contemporary theological synthesis on the Eucharist that brings together classical and critical biblical exegesis, debates on the early history of the Christian liturgy, patristic doctrine, the teachings offered by the Councils of Florence, Trent and Vatican II, and the Church’s lex orandi, all within a framework provided by the Eucharistic theology of Thomas Aquinas. The volume begins with Christ’s Bread of Life discourse in John 6, in light of the Old Testament theme of the manna, and the Synoptic accounts of the Last Supper. These biblical texts offer solid foundation for a theology of Eucharistic sacrifice, presence and Communion. It then continues with a historical and systematic study of the institution of the Eucharist by Christ, with special attention given to the emergence of the first Eucharistic prayers. Then follows a survey of key Christological and ecclesiological themes which undergird Eucharistic theology. The chapters on Eucharistic sacrifice and presence form the heart of the work. Here, the focus moves to key conciliar, patristic and Thomistic insights on these themes. Bread from Heaven clarifies misunderstandings of Eucharistic sacrifice and renders transubstantiation accessible to beginners. Blankenhorn concludes with a study of the consecration, the minister of the Eucharist and the fruits of communion. The chapter on the debate over the words of institution and the epiclesis gives a fresh perspective that integrates both eastern and western tradition. The study of the Eucharistic celebrant strikes a balance between a spirituality of the priest as acting in persona Christi and of the priest as praying in persona ecclesiae. The concluding chapter centers on the Eucharist’s unitive, mystical fruits in the Church. This textbook is ideal for an advanced undergraduate or graduate course on Eucharistic theology. It also seeks to advance the debate on several controversial historical and speculative issues in sacramental theology.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Reformation of the sixteenth century shattered the unity of medieval Christendom, and the resulting fissures spread to the corners of the earth. No scholar of the period has done more than Carlos M.N. Eire, however, to document how much these ruptures implicated otherworldly spheres as well. His deeply innovative publications helped shape new fields of study, intertwining social, intellectual, cultural, and religious history to reveal how, lived beliefs had real and profound implications for social and political life in early modern Europe. Reflecting these themes, the volume celebrates the intellectual legacy of Carlos Eire's scholarship, applying his distinctive combination of cultural and religious history to new areas and topics. In so doing it underlines the extent to which the relationship between the natural and the supernatural in the early modern world was dynamic, contentious, and always urgent. Organized around three sections - 'Connecting the Natural and the Supernatural', 'Bodies in Motion: Mind, Soul, and Death' and 'Living One's Faith' - the essays are bound together by the example of Eire's scholarship, ensuring a coherence of approach that makes the book crucial reading for scholars of the Reformation, Christianity and early modern cultural history.

Book excerpt: Heaven has played a central, although often unacknowledged, role in Western culture. This book explores the origins of concepts about heaven and how these may be found in Christianity. Early writings from Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia, Greece, and Rome are explored, with elements of shamanism, as well as the Hebrew and Christian Bibles and gnostic texts. The nature of the soul, the souls journey, and the role of morality are also considered. The book shows how age-old beliefs about life on earth and about heaven are important today. Activities are included to encourage readers to explore their own thoughts and feelings about heaven.

The authors call their new position Evolutionary Pluralism. By combining the Christian faith with modern science and the global growth of religious diversity, Evolutionary Pluralism provides Christians with an alternative to current interpretations such as Young Earth Creationism, Old Earth Creationism, Intelligent Design Creationism, and Evolutionary Creationism. This new understanding stands solidly within the history and traditions of the Christian faith and builds on the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Texas Prison Scams Religion exposes corruption in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, especially in the abuse of religion. In many ways, this book is a literature review of 1,800-plus works that defends freedom of conscience in prison while exposing the unconstitutionality of the seminary program that “buys faith with favor” from prisoners. The state veritably ordains the prisoner a “Field Minister” that represents the offices of the Governor, TDCJ Director, and wardens throughout the prison. Therein, TDCJ lies about neutrality in a program all about Christian missions and lies again in falsely certifying elementary Bible students as counselors. Why is the director sponsoring psychopaths counseling psychopaths? In fact, TDCJ pays $314 million a year to UTMB for psychiatric care and receives not a single report of the care given, and worse, for UTMB generates no reports itself. The underbelly TDCJ’s executive culture of cover up is exposed. TDCJ has hired the lowest qualified of the applicant pool many times in the last 25 years and regularly destroys statistics on violence. TDCJ Dir. Collier led the prison to model Louisiana Warden Burl Cain, the most scandal-ridden in penal history according to a host of published news stories for 20 years. Therein, Collier led TDCJ to favor the smallest segment of religious society within Evangelical Dominionism. Texas has no business endorsing the truth of any religion over another. We close with a proposal that utilizes the 400,000,000 hours of officer contact over ten years as a definitive influence in contrast to a commissioner that spends less than 10 minutes on each decision. Maness has been lobbying Austin for 15 years to definitively access staff for his “100,000 Mothers’ 1% Certainty Parole Texas Constitutional Amendment,” which would revolutionize prison culture and save Texans millions of the dollars.

Book excerpt: “Dedicated readers of ecology, theology, or religious philosophy will want to savor each one [of these essays]” from the renowned environmental thinker (Library Journal). A leading scholar, cultural historian, and Catholic priest who spent more than fifty years writing about our engagement with the Earth, Thomas Berry possessed prophetic insight into the rampant destruction of ecosystems and the extinction of species. In this book he makes a persuasive case for an interreligious dialogue that can better confront the environmental problems of the twenty-first century. These erudite and keenly sympathetic essays represent Berry’s best work, covering such issues as human beings’ modern alienation from nature and the possibilities of future, regenerative forms of religious experience. Asking that we create a new story of the universe and the emergence of the Earth within it, Berry resituates the human spirit within a sacred totality. “This book addresses how the history and diversity of world religions offer ways to engage with Earth; how it is necessary to connect with a spirituality that is Earth derived; how science can be in conversation with the religious sensibilities of wonder and awe; and how our relationship to the natural world is crucial to our spirituality. In the earliest essays, Berry sounds most optimistic and urges readers to reconcile modern impulses and technology with religious traditions.”—Publishers Weekly “Thomas Berry demonstrates in these papers the qualities he calls for: humanist vision and imagination.”—Resurgence

Book excerpt: Heaven on Earth - Enjoying the Abundant Life by Pneuma Phillips is a must read book that focuses on the life of the regenerated and recreated Christian. The ultimate will and plan of God is that mankind enjoys the fullness of Gods love and blessings. This sole intention is demonstrated when God gave up Jesus to die for the sins of mankind. This Book highlights on the life after the cross, the fully paid life. (i.e Life after Jesus death, burial and resurrection). When a man accepts and believes this sacrifice of Jesus, he automatically qualifies to become a partaker of this Heaven on Earth Pneuma Phillips tries to draw out. The scriptures below explains this regenerated and recreated life whilst also stemming out the benefits accruable when one is associated with Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 (NKJV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new John 10:10 (NKJV) The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly Pneuma Phillips has successfully and masterfully shown in this enriching Book how one can adequately be a partaker of this Heaven on Earth; believe and depend on the Fathers LOVE, be established in the GRACE of our Lord JESUS CHRIST, fellowship with and yield to the Holy SPIRIT, promote the UNITY of the Brethren and accept who you are in CHRIST. The third of a series of books (others include Out of the Pit and Staying out of the Pit), Heaven On Earth is a complete eliminator of mindsets that accepts poverty, failure, sickness etc as the will of God.

Book excerpt: The perfect gift! A specially priced, beautifully designed hardcover edition of The Joy of the Gospel with a foreword by Robert Barron and an afterword by James Martin, SJ. “The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus… In this Exhortation I wish to encourage the Christian faithful to embark upon a new chapter of evangelization marked by this joy, while pointing out new paths for the Church’s journey in years to come.” – Pope Francis This special edition of Pope Francis's popular message of hope explores themes that are important for believers in the 21st century. Examining the many obstacles to faith and what can be done to overcome those hurdles, he emphasizes the importance of service to God and all his creation. Advocating for “the homeless, the addicted, refugees, indigenous peoples, the elderly who are increasingly isolated and abandoned,” the Holy Father shows us how to respond to poverty and current economic challenges that affect us locally and globally. Ultimately, Pope Francis demonstrates how to develop a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ, “to recognize the traces of God’s Spirit in events great and small.” Profound in its insight, yet warm and accessible in its tone, The Joy of the Gospel is a call to action to live a life motivated by divine love and, in turn, to experience heaven on earth. Includes a foreword by Robert Barron, author of Catholicism: A Journey to the Heart of the Faith and James Martin, SJ, author of Jesus: A Pilgrimage

And here are some reasons as to why this must be. The original Bible was not written in our modern English, which is a far different language than Hebrew and Greek the original languages of the Holy Scriptures. Hence the reason for us to become avid students of the Word of God. We, living today are not the original recipients of Scripture and as such we need to understand what the original recipients understood when they first received that Word. We must be willing to let the Bible interpret itself and not hang on to our theories for the Scriptures. That the Bible speaks of at least four Heavens and three earths. And as such we need to dig deep into the Word of God and find them and apply this understanding in our study. Remember what the Scriptures say in Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal the word, and the glory of kings to search out the speech. With that said let us now take a deeper dive and journey into the Word of God with the intention of extracting much needed revelation concerning these Heavens and Earths.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ask a young Catholic why they are walking away from the Church and one of the main reasons is usually a perceived conflict between science and Christianity. The student edition of Particles of Faith: A Catholic Guide to Navigating Science aims to help Catholic high school students find real answers to real questions about the interaction of science and faith. What is the origin of life? Does the Big Bang prove God? Can a Christian accept the theory of evolution? Teacher and scientist Dr. Stacy A. Trasancos—who converted to Catholicism while confronting similar concerns about science and faith—addresses these and many other probing questions in the student edition of Particles of Faith, a book designed for use in a high school theology or science course. At the end of the book, students will be able to not only answer key questions about the faith but also to explain those answers to others. The Particles of Faith Teacher Resource Guide can be found online in the Classroom Resource section of the Ave Maria Press website and helps teachers adapt the book’s material as a separate unit in regularly-scheduled courses such as morality, social justice, life science, or in in chemistry and physics courses. Lesson plans in the Particles of Faith Teacher Resource Guide include quizzes and tests. Trasancos also has produced videos with related content in conjunction with Bishop Robert Barron and Word on Fire Catholic Ministries. She employs encyclicals such as Pope Francis’s Laudato Sí, the deep reflections of theologians such as St. Thomas Aquinas, and the exacting work of Catholic scientists such as Fr. Georges Lemaître—who proposed the game-changing Big Bang theory—to show how science and faith are interwoven lights meant to guide students on the path to truth. Trasancos also explains how the Catholic faith and science work together to reveal the truth of Christ through the beauty of his creation. She leads with the understanding that science awakens the wonders of the foundational statement of the faith: that God is Creator of all, seen and unseen.

In this collection, written in honor of Elizabeth A. Johnson, scholars from the United States and around the world contribute their insights on how theology today can and must turn to the world in new ways in light of contemporary science and our ecological crisis. The essays in this collection advance theological visions for the human task of healing our destructive relationship with the earth and envision hope for our planet's future.
