Book Synopsis Analysis of Turbulent Boundary Layers by : Tuncer Cebeci
Download or read book Analysis of Turbulent Boundary Layers written by Tuncer Cebeci and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analysis of Turbulent Boundary Layers focuses on turbulent flows meeting the requirements for the boundary-layer or thin-shear-layer approximations. Its approach is devising relatively fundamental, and often subtle, empirical engineering correlations, which are then introduced into various forms of describing equations for final solution. After introducing the topic on turbulence, the book examines the conservation equations for compressible turbulent flows, boundary-layer equations, and general behavior of turbulent boundary layers. The latter chapters describe the CS method for calculating two-dimensional and axisymmetric laminar and turbulent boundary layers. This book will be useful to readers who have advanced knowledge in fluid mechanics, especially to engineers who study the important problems of design.

Book Synopsis Physical and Computational Aspects of Convective Heat Transfer by : T. Cebeci

This book was released on 2013-04-18 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is concerned with the transport of thermal energy in flows of practical significance. The temperature distributions which result from convective heat transfer, in contrast to those associated with radiation heat transfer and conduction in solids, are related to velocity characteristics and we have included sufficient information of momentum transfer to make the book self-contained. This is readily achieved because of the close relation ship between the equations which represent conservation of momentum and energy: it is very desirable since convective heat transfer involves flows with large temperature differences, where the equations are coupled through an equation of state, as well as flows with small temperature differences where the energy equation is dependent on the momentum equation but the momentum equation is assumed independent of the energy equation. The equations which represent the conservation of scalar properties, including thermal energy, species concentration and particle number density can be identical in form and solutions obtained in terms of one dependent variable can represent those of another. Thus, although the discussion and arguments of this book are expressed in terms of heat transfer, they are relevant to problems of mass and particle transport. Care is required, however, in making use of these analogies since, for example, identical boundary conditions are not usually achieved in practice and mass transfer can involve more than one dependent variable.

Book Synopsis Hypersonic and High Temperature Gas Dynamics by : John David Anderson
Download or read book Hypersonic and High Temperature Gas Dynamics written by John David Anderson and published by AIAA. This book was released on 1989 with total page 710 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a self-contained text for those students and readers interested in learning hypersonic flow and high-temperature gas dynamics. It assumes no prior familiarity with either subject on the part of the reader. If you have never studied hypersonic and/or high-temperature gas dynamics before, and if you have never worked extensively in the area, then this book is for you. On the other hand, if you have worked and/or are working in these areas, and you want a cohesive presentation of the fundamentals, a development of important theory and techniques, a discussion of the salient results with emphasis on the physical aspects, and a presentation of modern thinking in these areas, then this book is also for you. In other words, this book is designed for two roles: 1) as an effective classroom text that can be used with ease by the instructor, and understood with ease by the student; and 2) as a viable, professional working tool for engineers, scientists, and managers who have any contact in their jobs with hypersonic and/or high-temperature flow.
Book Synopsis The CRC Handbook of Mechanical Engineering, Second Edition by :
Download or read book The CRC Handbook of Mechanical Engineering, Second Edition written by and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1998-03-24 with total page 2642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past 20 years, the field of mechanical engineering has undergone enormous changes. These changes have been driven by many factors, including: the development of computer technology worldwide competition in industry improvements in the flow of information satellite communication real time monitoring increased energy efficiency robotics automatic control increased sensitivity to environmental impacts of human activities advances in design and manufacturing methods These developments have put more stress on mechanical engineering education, making it increasingly difficult to cover all the topics that a professional engineer will need in his or her career. As a result of these developments, there has been a growing need for a handbook that can serve the professional community by providing relevant background and current information in the field of mechanical engineering. The CRC Handbook of Mechanical Engineering serves the needs of the professional engineer as a resource of information into the next century.
