With an increase in the thickness of the coating, the porosity of the deposits is reduced, which leads to an increase in the resistance of the steel to oxidation. The best protection of steel from oxidation during enameling can be guaranteed by a nickel phosphorous coating which at 850C has the greatest heat resistance. (Author).

Pyre-ML (pyromellitimide polymer) coatings were found unsatisfactory as rain-erosionresistant coatings because of low abrasion resistance. One silicon-nitrogen polymer coating was evaluated and the preliminary findings encourage a further study of this type of polymer. A survey of the literature on heat-resistant polymers indicated several types of polymers of interest in the investigation for rain-erosionresistant coatings. (Author).
