It argues that Black women are less likely to receive preventive care, such as mammograms and colonoscopies, and are more likely to experience complications from menopause, such as heart disease and osteoporosis. These disparities are due to a number of factors, including racism, sexism, and economic inequality. Based on a review of the literature and a survey of Black women transitioning through menopause, the thesis concludes by arguing that there is a need for greater awareness of these disparities and for interventions to address them.
