Book excerpt: ONE MILLION COPIES SOLD #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER Our earliest experiences shape our lives far down the road, and What Happened to You? provides powerful scientific and emotional insights into the behavioral patterns so many of us struggle to understand. “Through this lens we can build a renewed sense of personal self-worth and ultimately recalibrate our responses to circumstances, situations, and relationships. It is, in other words, the key to reshaping our very lives.”—Oprah Winfrey This book is going to change the way you see your life. Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?” Here, Winfrey shares stories from her own past, understanding through experience the vulnerability that comes from facing trauma and adversity at a young age. In conversation throughout the book, she and Dr. Perry focus on understanding people, behavior, and ourselves. It’s a subtle but profound shift in our approach to trauma, and it’s one that allows us to understand our pasts in order to clear a path to our future—opening the door to resilience and healing in a proven, powerful way.

This book was released on 2020-05-26 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABSTRACT Key to the process of spiritual growth is the knowledge that human beings long for love. They desire to know their worth and value. This seeking leads to a desire for a relationship with God. In order to grow in faith to a deeper relationship with God, it is important to first have a strong sense of one's own worth as a basis for growth. This involves an accurate self-perception and a loving self-acceptance. Affirmation can help to develop a loving self-acceptance, where one can experience, feel, and see one's worth. Affirmation is a gift of love from one person to another, where one receives oneself as one experiences one's own goodness and dignity from the other and one learns one is lovable. Another key to spiritual growth is self-knowledge. Self-acceptance and self-knowledge are the beginning of the spiritual life. Developing emotional awareness leads to greater self-knowledge. Emotions need to be listened to and interpreted as part of the development of self-knowledge and self-acceptance. This emotional awareness is the beginning of understanding the negative patterns of behavior that comes out of one's woundedness. With the healing presence of Christ through prayer, one can experience God's love for them in one's woundedness and know that God dwells within and desires to transform and heal wounds with his love. This affirms one in one's worthiness, enabling one to be able to open to receive love and then return love. In spiritual direction, one seeks a relationship with God. It is a sacred time of growth, conversion, and transformation. It is a time when one looks at a relationship with self, others, and God. One is empowered by the grace of God to enter this process and continue the development of these relationships. The ministry of spiritual direction is called to be the sacred place where humanity in their fullness meets their God and accepts his mercy. When one surrenders to this grace, one is surrendering to love, mercy, and affirmation. One's self-image and relationship with others and God are touched and experienced in a new light.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book for everybody who may be interested in health and happiness in his life here on earth, and in salvation in heaven in the next life. It will be of particular interest to all those involved in the healing ministry in any way. It is aimed especially at those who may be unaware of the very existence of such a ministry, or those who may be somewhat sceptical about it. It is also for all those people in need of physical and mental healing, and who have little or no idea of the important role that the spirit has to play in the healing of the whole person. The book traces the history of the healing ministry in the Church, beginning with Jesus Christ and the apostle. It traces the development of the healing ministry in the early Church, and how this ministry and the sacrament of anointing of the sick gradually became identified with death and dying, and as a result almost died out as a sacrament for those who were sick. It deals with the revival of the healing ministry in modern times, and examines the thorough reformation of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick inaugurated by Vatican II. The author discusses some of the reasons why the healing ministry has not been given the priority it deserves in the pastoral ministry of the Church, and some of the many misunderstandings about this ministry. Finally he discusses how it may be profitable be more fully used in a world that is badly in need of healing.

The trouble, according to bestselling author Andrew Farley and Bart Millard, lead singer of MercyMe, is that we don't know where to find it. Inspired by MercyMe's #1 hit song of the same name, The Hurt & The Healer reveals exactly how God can be the gentle healer of all our hurts. Writing from the pain they've experienced in their lives, Millard and Farley reveal how their own struggles caused them to feel they had disappointed God. Through their biblical guidance, readers will see that God wants them to be open and honest about their pain. Only then can they discover how to exchange destructive thinking patterns for God's view of them and watch as God's perfect love casts away all their fears.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Christian church worldwide has been taken prisoner by Satan's counterfeit healing." This statement is based on the author's personal experience, modest exposure to the Toronto Blessing, observation of parachurch healing ministries, and extensive historical reconstructions. Satan's Counterfeit Healing presents and evaluates Satan's supernatural healing from the Paleolithic period (ca. 45000 BCE) to the contemporary church. The guiding thesis is that Satan and his demonic surrogates perform miracles which are evident as psi paranormal phenomena. These manifestations include physical and exorcistic supernatural healings. Paleolithic and Neolithic periods produced Great Mother goddess worship and healing, which have persisted ever since. These idolatries, combined with OT nature gods, were a backdrop to Jesus' true miracles. For two thousand years of church history there's been a tug-of-war between true and false healing. Mother goddess as Mariological shrine healing joined with natural and demonic magic, and esoteric energy psi. Alongside these the Holy Spirit has raised up genuine healers and their ministries. Modern healing is marked by energy counterfeits and faith healing, the latter especially accompanied by trance, false prophecy, and psi transformations. True divine healing can be recovered when Christians repudiate nature gods, reject false prophecy, and restore proper eschatology.
