Book excerpt: Hope and Faith: two things that everyone needs to survive—but the words take on a different meaning in the form of a set of twins who attend Crockett University in Washington, D.C. Soror Ride 'em High and Soror Lick 'em Low, originally hail from Atlanta and, like most twins, they share a connection. In fact, their physical bond is so strong, that one can often feel a pounding while the other is engaged in sexual activity. But everything is not perfect when it comes to being a twin. Sometimes animosity and jealousy can creep in; especially when Hope and Faith find themselves both attracted to the same man on campus. Is blood really thicker than water? Or, in this case, thicker than basic carnal desires? In this long-anticipated second volume in the APF series, a follow-up to The Sisters of APF: The Indoctrination of Soror Ride Dick, New York Times bestselling author Zane once again proves why she is the Queen of Erotic Fiction. Over the years many have tried to emulate her but Zane's imagination is not to be replicated any time in the near future. The freak nights of APF are some of the most artistic, exhilarating, erotic experiences that have ever graced the pages of a book; evidenced by the thousands of emails Zane has received over the years from women yearning to join the sorority. The sexual revolution continues within the pages of Head Bangers: An APF Sexcapade.

This book was released on 2012-09-03 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inside story of the most colorful decade in NFL history—pro football’s raging, hormonal, hairy, druggy, immortal adolescence. Between the Immaculate Reception in 1972 and The Catch in 1982, pro football grew up. In 1972, Steelers star Franco Harris hitchhiked to practice. NFL teams roomed in skanky motels. They played on guts, painkillers, legal steroids, fury, and camaraderie. A decade later, Joe Montana’s gleamingly efficient 49ers ushered in a new era: the corporate, scripted, multibillion-dollar NFL we watch today. Kevin Cook’s rollicking chronicle of this pivotal decade draws on interviews with legendary players—Harris, Montana, Terry Bradshaw, Roger Staubach, Ken “Snake” Stabler—to re-create their heroics and off-field carousing. He shows coaches John Madden and Bill Walsh outsmarting rivals as Monday Night Football redefined sports’ place in American life. Celebrating the game while lamenting the physical toll it took on football’s greatest generation, Cook diagrams the NFL’s transformation from second-tier sport into national obsession.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Emergency and the White Crystal is a thriller that builds up chapter after chapter to the final end! The book shows how sometimes we are not safe by just calling nine-one-one. Many real heroes put their lives on the line in the police, fire, and EMS. The main character, Jack Winner, just graduated from Emergency Medical Technicians training school. He is ready for the real world in the EMS. Jack lives alone in a second-floor apartment above Elenora Dunn, a sweet old woman. His girlfriend, Melanie Straight, has been a longtime partner and lover since high school. Her mother, Deidra Straight, is the emergency room head nurse at the Jem City General Hospital. Her father John works in a warehouse down by the waterfront docks. Jack and Melanie’s nights out for fun are few, but they manage to enjoy their times at Alley Burger restaurant. Jack starts his new job the following day as an EMT on the city ambulances. He meets his co-workers. First, Roy, the dispatcher, his new partner Mike Zaber, and Captain Jim Hawker, their operational manager. Jack breaks into the EMS as he learns more and more about life and death. Jack and Mike became a tight crew, and one of the best in the city, for saving lives! One day an illegal drug lab blew up in a horrific chemical explosion, causing a deadly warehouse fire, killing the “cooks,” who manufactured meth amphetamines, street-named “WHITE CRYSTAL”. Frankie and Lasalle Sabelly, brothers, who oversaw the Cartel operation, blamed the EMS people for not saving their people’s lives. They claimed restitution against the law and EMS. Jack and Mike happened to be number one on the mob hit list. At the safe house, the East Coast cartel mobsters had a meeting to scheme and plan their hits. Jack and Melanie's futures were put on hold as the couple fell as helpless victims to the Cartel. They were kidnapped and ransomed for a huge sum of money, or death would be inevitable. Detective Glen Delayo and Detective Brian Leman—Jem Cities' finest, were put into action to solve this problem. The city was in total turmoil and fear over the mob’s claim of retaliation against the authorities! The question was, “Who would be next on the mob's list?”

Book excerpt: In England, perhaps more than most places, people's engagement with the landscape is deeply felt and has often been expressed through artistic media. The popularity of walking and walking clubs perhaps provides the most compelling evidence of the important role landscape plays in people's lives. Not only is individual identity rooted in experiencing landscape, but under the multiple impacts of social fragmentation, global economic restructuring and European integration, membership in recreational walking groups helps recover a sense of community. Moving between the 1750s and the present, this transdisciplinary book explores the powerful role of landscape in the formation of historical class relations and national identity. The author's direct field experience of fell walking in the Lake District and with various locally based clubs includes investigation of the roles gender and race play. She shows how the politics of access to open spaces has implications beyond the immediate geographical areas considered and ultimately involves questions of citizenship.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume addresses the topic of self-injurious behavior (SIB) in per sons with developmental disabilities. Among professionals and the lay public alike, there is little debate over the seriousness of self-injury, its detrimental effects, and the need for therapeutic intervention. At the same time, there are divergent views concerning its etiology and treat ment. Understanding the causes of self-injury, for example, requires an analysis of biological factors, socioenvironmental variables, communica tion competencies, and in complex clinical cases, the interrelationships among these influences. There is also uncertainty with regard to the function of self-injury. Put simply, why would people willingly inflict injury upon themselves? Finally, although there is little disagreement about the necessity to intervene for self-injury, clinicians do not make uniform therapeutic recommendations, and, in fact, considerable dif ferences in treatment selection are common. This fact is most apparent when one considers the ongoing controversy with regard to aversive and nonaversive programming. Our premise for this volume is that a greater understanding of self injurious behavior is dependent upon an empirical research base. Theories of causality must be conceptually valid and capable of being evaluated objectively. Treatment must be functionally determined, operationalized, and replicable across personnel and settings. For these reasons, we have assembled chapters by individuals who are experi enced clinicians and researchers in the fields of psychology, medicine, psychiatry, education, psychopharmacology, and developmental dis abilities.

Book excerpt: The Hellbangers are the "enfants terribles" of a sleepy, diamonds rich country. Photographer Pep Bonet (1974, Mallorca) has been following Overthrust, a heavy metal band from Botswana, Africa, and shows us a growing, exciting and thoroughly organic heavy metal community. Ten years ago, one group existed. Today there are more than ten - and their fans are growing every year. The inhabitants of Botswana portrayed in this book are tattooed, loudly and proudly dress in leather, and play heavy death metal music. Imagine the DIY ingenuity of their 'costume creation' involving harvested animal skulls and other natural elements. With names like Demon and Gunsmoke, it would be easy though to think they are thugs, but "We try to be examples. Rock is a wild thing, but also something for the heart", says Gunsmoke, the heavy metal head. Here too, the lyrics of the songs are very critical towards societies, just like their western peers. Metal in Botswana is rebellious movement against authorities. This is the story of what looks at first to be an unlikely union, yet one which powerfully illustrates how music, how heavy metal music, has become a positively unifying force in an unlikely part of the world. With text contributions written by Pep Bonet and Steffan Chirazi, and a foreword by Rob Halford from Judas Priest.
