Book excerpt: Only true love can free a captive heart.Landon Jenks, retired four-time Golden Glove-winning shortstop for the Chicago Cubs, is lonely, heartbroken, and in desperate need of simple human contact. Trapped in the sticky fine print of an ironclad contract that forbids him from revealing his very-much-single status until the season finale of his reality show airs, he calls an elite male escort service that caters to the rich and wretched.Accustomed to servicing his often less than savory clients at more upscale locales, twenty-six-year-old Toby Carmichael is surprised when his handler sends him to a run-down motel off I-55. But "surprise" doesn't come close to describing the shock that rocks his system when a delightful stuttering mess covered in tattoos and nearly ten years his senior stumbles into the room-and right into his heart. For the first time since Toby was forced into the life of prostitution, a kiss sparks a desire that has nothing to do with money and everything to do with genuine chemistry and the faintest beginnings of something so much more. But Toby's dark past and troubled present make it impossible to see a future with Landon. And when the truth comes to light, a horrified and helpless Landon is determined to save Toby at all costs.

Book excerpt: Captain Maximus Harcourt, the unconventional tenth Duke of Alderidge, can deal with tropical storms, raging seas, and the fiercest of pirates. But he's returned home from his latest voyage to find a naked earl - quite inconveniently deceased - tied to his missing sister's bed. And he has only one place to turn. Now he's at the mercy of the captivating Miss Ivory Moore of Chegarre & Associates, known throughout London for smoothing over the most dire of scandals. Miss Moore treats the crisis as though it were no more serious than a cup of spilt tea on an expensive rug. As though this sort of thing happened on the job every day. Max has never in all his life met a woman with such nerve. Her dark eyes are too wide, her mouth is too full, her cheekbones too sharp. Yet together, she's somehow...flawless. It's just like his love for her, imperfect, unexpected - yet absolutely true.

Book excerpt: This book does end with a cliffhanger and part two will be released December 2016 Warning: this book contains disturbing situations, strong language and sexual scenes, recommended for ages over 18. I have a potty mouth. People see me as the girl who sleeps around. I am known as his girl. But things aren't always as they seem. I hide behind a charade that I created to keep people at arms length, even to the ones close to me. No one knows who I really am, not even my best friend Jonny Stone, the guy that saved me years ago. We both have messed up pasts on which we are not willing to share. He says I'm his light in his darkness, but I feel he's pulling me more into the shadows. We play games, we like to push each other to our limits but what if our limits are lines that should not be crossed? Am I willing to face my past? To finally give the man who owns me all of me? Will the girl I created be strong enough for what's to come?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the USA TODAY bestselling author of Sweet Thing and Nowhere But Here comes a love story about a Craigslist “missed connection” post that gives two people a second chance at love fifteen years after they were separated in New York City. To the Green-eyed Lovebird: We met fifteen years ago, almost to the day, when I moved my stuff into the NYU dorm room next to yours at Senior House. You called us fast friends. I like to think it was more. We lived on nothing but the excitement of finding ourselves through music (you were obsessed with Jeff Buckley), photography (I couldn’t stop taking pictures of you), hanging out in Washington Square Park, and all the weird things we did to make money. I learned more about myself that year than any other. Yet, somehow, it all fell apart. We lost touch the summer after graduation when I went to South America to work for National Geographic. When I came back, you were gone. A part of me still wonders if I pushed you too hard after the wedding… I didn’t see you again until a month ago. It was a Wednesday. You were rocking back on your heels, balancing on that thick yellow line that runs along the subway platform, waiting for the F train. I didn’t know it was you until it was too late, and then you were gone. Again. You said my name; I saw it on your lips. I tried to will the train to stop, just so I could say hello. After seeing you, all of the youthful feelings and memories came flooding back to me, and now I’ve spent the better part of a month wondering what your life is like. I might be totally out of my mind, but would you like to get a drink with me and catch up on the last decade and a half? M

Download or read book Like She Owns the Place written by Cara Alwill and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2018-07-10 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can you imagine what life would be like if you could accept failure, cellulite, wrinkles, imperfection, screw-ups, and vulnerability? I’ll tell you what would happen: you would finally take that weight off your shoulders and build unshakeable, sustainable confidence. The truth is that confidence isn’t about living up to anyone’s expectations—it’s about affirming, every day, that you’re an effing boss. It’s not the result of being skinny, making a six figure salary, finding your dream partner, or drinking a green juice every day. It requires patience, dedication, forgiveness, bravery, and an incredible amount of self-compassion. You’ve probably read that “confidence is a choice,” and while that’s true, it’s more accurate to say that confidence is a series of repeated choices to accept yourself. To choose pride over insecurity. And to fearlessly show up in the world as the truest expression of yourself. It took me a long time to overcome all the BS. It took me a longer time to develop a rock-solid sense of inner-peace and become intimate with my intuition. To achieve real confidence that lasted longer than a sugar rush. My goal with this book is to share with you how I have arrived here, how I’ve helped my clients arrive here, and hopefully save you years of pain, shame, and uncertainty. Because, girl, I know how rocky this road can be. I’m going to show you how to block out all the noise around you, and how to free yourself from the opinions and judgment of others. I’m going to teach you how to trust your gut, reclaim your life, and rock what you’ve got. I’m going to show you how to own the place.
Book Synopsis Who Owns Your Soul? by : Doreen C. Mampani
Download or read book Who Owns Your Soul? written by Doreen C. Mampani and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-09 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our Lord Jesus Christ asked this questions which is so relevant today when people do not hesitate to sell their souls to Satan for wealth, fame, power, beauty, and control over others (witchcraft). Matthew 16:26 "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" Our Lord Jesus Christ asked me this question and I cried for few days. This time (2011) my husband and I lost almost everything from a comfortable life to a life of debts, poverty, shame, suicidal thoughts, mockery, no food, name calling, some confessing Christians called me a demon, Satan, witch, and all offending names you can imagine. Choosing to follow Lord Jesus Christ is choosing life. I chose Lord Jesus Christ not for wealth, fame, power, possession or material but because I need Him, my soul just cannot do without its Master. The book you are about to read is based on my life story of how Satan is deceiving people. The idea of writing this book was after discussing my background and experience with various people from different backgrounds, race, colour and gender both from South Africa and Africa. I believe in Jesus Christ with all my heart, body and soul. This is a battle plan to destroy and dispossess death, poverty and destruction in Africa and the world. You may ask why Satan is so much after souls (human beings). That is because that has been his aim since his fall. Who does your soul belong to? All souls (humans) belong to God of Heaven. With my background when I pray I say "God of Heaven", Jesus Christ, I have to be specific due to the kind of challenges I experience when I pray. When I prayed and said God, Satan would challenge and asked "which one do you refer to?" In this book I will discuss witchcraft I experienced. Witchcraft has been there since Old Testament time. We read scriptures such Nahum 3:4 "Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the well-favoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts". In the New Testament for example we read in Acts 8:9 "But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one" I will give as much details as possible to help the reader to identify arrears that the enemy is controlling your own life so that you can pray or have a Pastor to pray for you for God Almighty to destroy the strongholds of Satan. We are living in times when people are daring to oppose God Almighty publicly without fear. Does God not hear or see? Oh He does. Why do we challenge such a loving caring God of Heaven who created us in His own image with so much unconditional love? It's because of rebellion towards our Maker, one of Satan's goals against the Almighty God. Satan hated human beings since the creating of Adam and Eve. His aim since then has been to turn human beings against our Creator. He tries to make God appear unfair he said in Gen 3:4-5 "then the serpent said to the woman, you will not surely die ... for God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil". Satan made it appear as if God was depriving Adam and Eve from being like God, from knowing good and evil. Today Satan still uses his tricks to deceive people to want to be like God. Promising that he can give power, control, wealth, fame, beauty, access to everything that the individual desire. He does not tell the person though that he (Satan) takes the soul in exchange of these things. I don't want to be associated with Satan neither any of his demons, principalities and powers. I love Lord Jesus Christ with my entire being. I will mention some of the numbers used by Satan, especially number 11. Remember is God of Heaven who created days, weeks, months and years and numbers not Satan. Sata

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Public and private institutions in the United States have long been home to a variety of art works, antiquities, and ethnological materials. For years, these collections have been seen as important archives that allow present and future generations to enjoy, appreciate, and value the art of all cultures. The past decade, however, has seen major changes in law and public policy and an active, ongoing debate over legal and ethical issues affecting the ownership of art and other cultural property. Contributors to Who Owns the Past? include legal scholars, museum professionals, anthropologists, archaeologists, and collectors. In clear, nontechnical language, they provide a comprehensive overview of the development of cultural property law and practices, as well as recent case law affecting the ability of museums and private collectors to own art from other countries. Topics covered include rights to property, ethical ownership, the public responsibilities of museums, threats to art from war, pillage, and development, and international cooperation to preserve collections in the developing world. Engaging all perspectives on this debate, Who Owns the Past? challenges all who care about the arts to work together toward policies that consider traditional American interests in securing cultural resources and respect international concerns over loss of heritage.
