Book excerpt: This paradigm-shifting book helps believers understand the process of being transformed by God's grace and truth, and challenges them to be a part of the process of discipleship in the lives of their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Counseling One Another biblically presents and defends every believer's responsibility to work toward God's goal of conforming us to the image of His Son-a goal reached through the targeted form of intensive discipleship most often referred to as counseling. All Christians will find Counseling One Another useful as they make progress in the life of sanctification and as they discuss issues with their friends, children, spouses, and fellow believers, providing them with a biblical framework for life and one-another ministry in the body of Christ.

Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to present a way that a person may always have improvement in the quality of life through bringing attention to living the characteristics of the "Fruit of the Spirit" established in Galatians 5:22-23. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." There are suggested ideas for implementing the traits of the Fruit of the Spirit in daily life. Charts are provided to record progress on this implementation for personal reflection and/or small group discussion. A person leans on faith in moments of crisis. If a person consciously makes the characteristics of the "fruit of the spirit" an ongoing response to all situations in life, he will become stronger in his faith and get the best out of life. There is unlimited power when a person has a faith that results in these qualities. Improvement in a person's life can be outward; that is, seen by others. It can also be experienced by the way a person thinks or psychological improvement in a person's personal outlook on life. This can happen, even if there is limited physical improvement; although many studies support the fact that an optimistic outlook has a definite positive impact on physical healing. Faith implies a positive attitude that believes one will always improve, even if very small, until the day one dies. In summary, every person can continually improve his or her life by living by the qualities of the "Fruit of the Spirit" love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. When you make these qualities a part of everyday life, life becomes the best it can be. This book is an explanation of each characteristic with the challenge and opportunity to implement each as a part of a person's experience. There is also an original oil painting by Dr. Jarvis to represent each characteristic.

Children will understand that their words, thoughts, and actions are the seeds they plant and if they plant seeds of love, they will harvest love. If they plant seeds of anger, they will grow anger. If they plant seeds of kindness, they will receive kindness in return. Children will be inspired to think about what they are planting and what they are harvesting in return. Bonus activities to reinforce these messages are included.

Book excerpt: Don't you just love finding succulent unblemished fruit at the grocery? We love it because it's the best it can be. Someone had to plant, prune, and fertilize in order for us to enjoy the harvest. When sin became the norm in Galatia, Paul knew Christians would be influenced and set forth guidelines for continuing growth, developing the fruit of the Spirit.By developing our fruit, we have the ability to be the best of what God wants us to be. By pruning regularly and applying the right fertilizer, we can know more love than we've ever known, more joy than we've ever experienced, and have a peace that puzzles others just by cultivating our fruit. Heading for Harvest is a challenging study for women of all ages.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is God disappointed in me? Am I doing enough? Why is it so hard to produce the fruit of the Spirit? If producing spiritual fruit has ever felt like toil, this study will help you discover the way Jesus meant for fruit to grow. No matter where you are on your journey to bearing fruit, this 13-lesson scripture study will lead you into an even more fruitful life. New believers, as well as those who have been in the church for decades, can both find greater victory in the areas of bearing fruit and abiding in Jesus. Some of the most common themes in Jesus’ parables are planting, sowing, and harvesting. In Effortless Fruitfulness, the author examines many of those parables and stories from the New Testament, along with examples from her own life, to reveal practical steps and raise thought-provoking questions that will help you step out of striving and into supernatural growth. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NIV ..... This is a thirteen-session individual or small group study and workbook that examines Jesus' parables and teachings in the Gospels about bearing fruit, abiding in the vine, sowing and reaping, harvesting, and other agricultural metaphors and reveals how many Christians have been trying to gain victory in these areas by self-effort without realizing it. Be ready to be set free and equipped for greater fruitfulness! The paperback version of this book is both a bible study and a workbook. The eBook version has all the same content, but lacks the workbook layout and space to answer the questions. It is recommended that you have a separate journal on hand for writing your answers to the questions when reading the eBook version. Perfect for a Bible study, small group, or for individual study or quiet time to foster spiritual and personal growth.

Book excerpt: Though the schism of valuing spirituality with respect to social work practice has lessened over the years, there continues to be a gap in our understanding as to exactly what spirituality is and how one might incorporate it within social work practice? It is my contention that social workers should not only be incorporating spirituality within their practice, but also, they should become spiritual exemplars themselves. Fruit of the Spirit: A Primer for Spiritually-minded Social Workers provides some provocative notions that will spur the reader forward on his/her spiritual development. It introduces to the reader the notion of spiritual differentiation from the animalistic notion of self (which I describe as the "indifferent-heart realm"), to the development of humanistic principles ("craving-heart realm") to the ultimate experience of our purposeful journey of being fully cognizant of our spiritual selves ("pure-heart realm"). This process is exemplified with a gardening metaphor, which the reader can progress from "seeding" (awareness of one's spiritual self and the sowing of spiritual seeds), "weeding" (the structure and care of developing our spiritual selves) and the "harvesting" (the ingesting and granting of spiritual "fruits" that has been produced). Traditional knowledge of social work practice helps to elucidate the student; whereas, embracing spiritual principles is about transforming and transcending the student to higher levels. The "fruits" that are gathered are the attributes of God (e.g., love, peace, goodness, etc.). There are exercises at the end of each chapter that will assist the reader in developing his/her spirituality.
