Book excerpt: Saddle up for adventure with the horse-and-rider sets by Hartland Plastics, the small midwestern company that set a standard of excellence for mass produced, plastic figurines. Whether you like horses; collect toys, model horses, TV mementos or Western memorabilia; or just want to recall the days when heroes were good guys on horseback, this book will make you smile. Hartland Plastics manufactured about six dozen riders and 10 standing gunfighters, over 100 horses for the riders, and countless miniature accessories--and the fun they had shows. The quality sculpture by Roger Williams and Alvar Backstrand and fine attention to painted details give Hartland models a place in the history of American toys and the hearts of kids and collectors. Hartland expert Gail Fitch has assembled a guide loaded with color photography and valuable information for the collector, including current prices, data tables, and advice on care and repair of your models.

Book Synopsis Royalton, Middleport & Hartland by : Frederick G. Fierch
Download or read book Royalton, Middleport & Hartland written by Frederick G. Fierch and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2014 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Situated in the Northern tier of western New York, the New York State towns of Royalton and Hartland present a very interesting insight into the transformation of the United States over the last fifty years. The area was dotted with small, self-sufficient population areas which have seen life as it was change into mere residential communities. Although hardly unique in that regard, the vibrancy which permeated the area can still be detected from what has remained, either abandoned or active. The entire area was once the major East-West axis running from New York City to the interior of the nation. It contains the Erie Canal, the Military Road (a route which began in Batavia, New York, home of the head office of the Holland Land Company which settled the area in the late 1700s and terminated at Fort Niagara on Lake Ontario) the Route 104 (Ridge Road) and Route 31, which connected Rochester and Buffalo. Because of the transportation system and the fruit industry of the region, these towns were once part of an economic powerhouse.

Book Synopsis Royalton, Middleport, and Hartland by : Frederick G. Fierch
Download or read book Royalton, Middleport, and Hartland written by Frederick G. Fierch and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2010 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nestled in the eastern end of Niagara County are the townships of Royalton and Hartland. The village of Middleport lies mostly within the town of Royalton, with a small part in the town of Hartland. When the Erie Canal was built through Royalton and opened in 1824, it connected the interior of the United States with the Atlantic Ocean, and the entire area was forever changed by the canal. The area earned a reputation as an excellent fruit-farming region and orchards appeared, along with the chemical-spraying industry. Royalton, Hartland, and especially Middleport became extraordinarily important in these two industries, and the canal was the focal point. The Erie Canal continued to be a major shipping factor for the region until the barges discontinued use in the 1950s.

That’s huge! But how did it get there? And where did it come from? Well… The story of this giant flag begins in 1812 and stars a major on the eve of battle, a seamstress and her mighty helpers, and a poet named Francis Scott Key. This isn’t just the story of one flag. It’s the story of “The Star Spangled-Banner,” a poem that became our national anthem, too. Dynamically told and stunningly illustrated, Jessie Hartland brings this fascinating and true story to life.
