Book excerpt: Wilderness Ways by William J. Long is about a variety of Mysterious members of nature's elusive family. Excerpt: "Megaleep is the big woodland caribou of the northern wilderness. His Milicete name means The Wandering One, but it ought to mean the Mysterious and the Changeful as well. If you hear that he is bold and fearless, that is true; and if you are told that he is shy and wary and inapproachable, that is also true. For he is never the same two days in succession. At once shy and bold, solitary and gregarious; restless as a cloud, yet clinging to his feeding grounds, spite of wolves and hunters, till he leaves them of his own free will; wild as Kakagos the raven, but inquisitive as a blue jay,—he is the most fascinating and the least known of all the deer."

Book excerpt: When is the last time you stood outside and felt the wind upon your face? Or gazed upon the sight of natural wonder so breathtaking that all you could do was to look upon it, trying to drink in every last detail? When is the last time you felt truly connected to nature? When asked, more than half of Americans answered they felt like they needed to connect more with the world outside of their doorway. As much as we'd like to think otherwise, the clear majority of us spend less time than we want. Most average Americans spend less than five hours of the week outside. Somewhere we've lost our way. Do we no longer hold onto a sense of adventure we felt as children? Or worse, have we never actually connected with nature in the first place? Either way, we're missing out on something. Most of us hold a vague feeling of dissatisfaction in our lives and are looking for something we can't even begin to define. Our lives are out of balance, somehow. For most of us, the answer lies in reconnecting with something greater than ourselves. It lies in seeing the world as more than we experience within those same four walls enclosing us every day of our lives. It's certainly not found on a computer screen. Although you are probably reading this on a computer screen right now! Together, let's unplug and find out what lies just beyond your doorway. Discover the richness of life in nature, the joys of being able to breathe deep and be one with the world.Isn't it time to restore what's missing in your life, and discover the peace of nature's balance? You can do so with my book "Natural Harmony".

It is grounded in current global concerns about growing threats to the natural environment. Through a critical appraisal of specific examples, it ranges widely over historical and contemporary attitudes and behaviours. It presents a wide ranging analysis of selected ideas and attitudes in the evolution mainly of western civilisation, from the time of the cave artists to the present day. It argues for preservation and conservation of the natural resources and beauty of the earth in the face of religious supernatural arguments and the rise of consumer capitalism and consumerism.

The symbiotic nature between man and the earth itself was deeply felt and understood by all. What has happened to this innate connection that we once had? Why do we as a society now feel so far removed from the natural world around us? These questions and many more will be answered within the pages of this book. Throughout these pages you will find new knowledge and inspiring ways to help you to start to remember and reconnect to your own sense of guardianship of the earth which you live upon.So much has been learned and discovered by mankind over the countless generations with the sweeping changes brought about my modern technology and the industrial revolution but this has advanced our ability to construct and take from the earth what we want but at the very same time, taking us far away from the natural knowledge we already had once before. The only way forward, is to go backwards. We need to remember how closely we once were connected to the earth and natural world around us, and go back to basics. To a more simpler and natural way of living our life's, bringing them more fully and closely in harmony with the natural rhythms of the earth itself. To go back to a more natural way of farming, eliminating pesticides and man made chemicals in the growing process which would revolutionise humanity's health and overall sense of well being. The vast amount of illness causing substances that we ingest on a daily basis through our eating of modern industrially mass prodded food is shocking. It's a miracle in itself that we are even still able to function and get by. Instead of enriching us, and nourishing our bodies, the fast food that we are constantly consuming on a daily basis is making us sick and destroying us from the inside out. We need to re find our own innate connection to the earth and the world of nature around us. To get back into the natural flow of life, and instead of cutting ourselves off from the ebb and flow of its seasons, to re align our life's with their natural cycles and to once again live in harmony with the earth and in tune with the wider cosmos. As above, so below, and when mankind is once again living in sync with the earth and the natural world around him, we will find peace and harmony and life will flow more smoothly and effortlessly for all of us who are here.
