Book Synopsis The Heiress and The Cowboy by : Dahlia Rose
Download or read book The Heiress and The Cowboy written by Dahlia Rose and published by Dahlia Rose Unscripted. This book was released on with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kerri Sloan was always on the news, lights and cameras in her face, and she was known as the diamond heiress. Not because of the wealth she’d amassed but because she was cold as the jewels she wore. Now she was on his ranch waving a blank check thinking he’d sell out his dream. Alex Mendoza had two words for the gorgeous woman, and they weren’t, I’ll sell. But she wasn’t giving up, and after one heated discussion at a town hall meeting, he shut her up with a kiss. Alex instantly regretted the kiss because all he could do was think about bedding her each time he saw her. It scared the hell out of him that he might be falling in love. Kerri took one look at Alex and assessed him as a typical Texas cowboy, which was unfair because she was presumed to be something she wasn’t. She made her wealth, and men hated her for it. So why would he be any different? Then Alex had to kiss her and complicate everything. How could she dislike a man who made her body tremble with just one touch? They had nothing in common and were as combustible as crude oil and an open flame. She could deny it all she wanted, but Kerri craved the heat they created. She knew everything about the boardroom, stocks, and building her empire, and nothing about losing her heart.

Book excerpt: Here is the complete ‘Hardcore’ Series, a seriously hot and provocative romance by Lucia Jordan, written in her signature style of high passion and emotion. Josslyn Turner is more interested in living vicariously through the exploits of the police officers she works for than fixing her own love life. There’s just something about their stories of crime and adventure, something exciting about their power that turns Joss on. Working late one night at the station, Joss meets Vincent West, a local politician who is both handsome and enigmatic. Her attraction to him is immediate and he seems to feel the same way. They secretly become involved and new experiences soon escalate to sexual surrender as Josslyn starts to realize that she’s been hiding her true nature. But as much as Joss is excited by Vincent’s raw, dominant sexuality… is she also a little afraid of handing over too much control? Only mature readers should download this book.
Download or read book Zero at the Bone written by Erec Toso and published by University of Arizona Press. This book was released on 2022-06-14 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Late one evening in the summer of 2003, Erec Toso arrived home to his wife and children after an ordinary day at his university office. In the darkness of his yard, a rattlesnake lay along the path, basking in the post-monsoon coolness. Toso, lost in thought, never saw the snake, which struck him on the foot and injected a huge dose of venom. Zero at the Bone is a deeply personal narrative about Toso’s physical recovery and emotional transformation following this near-death experience. In elegant prose that inspires as much as it unsettles, Toso takes the reader along with him on his expedition into the uncharted territory of cellular damage, hallucination, and ultimately profound spiritual awakening. On all levels, it is a book about pain. Toso spares no detail in his accounts of agonizing hospital procedures, in his revelations about rattlesnake lore, or in his descriptions of the wide-ranging effects of snake venom. But quickly the reader realizes that the physical pain of the snakebite is only the more tangible marker of the psychological pain and turmoil that Toso endures in the emotional journey that ensues. In the months that follow his terrifying attack, priorities, daily habits, family relations, and definitions of self all come into question. What is predictable becomes problematic; what is comfortable becomes disconcerting. In a story that hinges on a common fear about an unlikely event—that of a snakebite—Toso uncovers a more widespread reality that many of us do not fear enough—complacency.

Book Synopsis Hardcore History by : Scott E. Williams
Download or read book Hardcore History written by Scott E. Williams and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2016-03-08 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) was one extreme contradiction on top of another. An incredibly influential—but never profitable—company in the world of professional wrestling in the 1990s, it portrayed itself as the ultimate in anti-authority rebellion, but its leadership was working covertly with the World Wrestling Federation and the World Championship Wrestling. Most of all, it blurred the line between reality and the fantasy world of professional wrestling. Hardcore History: The Extremely Unauthorized Story of ECW offers a frank, balanced look at the evolution of ECW starting before its early days as a Philadelphia-area independent group and extending past its death in 2001. Featuring dozens of interviews with fans, officials, business partners, and the wrestlers themselves, this is a very balanced account of this bizarre company—and it’s sure to be extremely controversial for fans and critics of ECW, and wrestling, alike. Skyhorse Publishing, as well as our Sports Publishing imprint, is proud to publish a broad range of books for readers interested in sports—books about baseball, pro football, college football, pro and college basketball, hockey, or soccer, we have a book about your sport or your team. Book Synopsis Cowboy Christians by : Marie W. Dallam
Download or read book Cowboy Christians written by Marie W. Dallam and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-01-15 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cowboy Christians examines the long history of cowboy Christianity in the American West, with a focus on the present-day cowboy church movement. Based on five years of historical and sociological fieldwork in cowboy Christian communities, this book draws on interviews with leaders of cowboy churches, traveling rodeo ministries, and chaplains who serve horse racing and bull riding communities, along with the author's first-hand experiences as a participant observer. Marie W. Dallam traces cowboy Christianity from the postbellum period into the twenty-first century, looking at religious life among cowboys on the range as well as its representation in popular imagery and the media. She examines the structure, theology, and perpetuation of the modern cowboy church, and speculates on future challenges the institution may face, such as the relegation of women to subordinate participant roles at a time of increasing gender equality in the larger society. She also explores the cowboy Christian proclivity for blending the secular and the sacred in leisure environments like arenas, racetracks, and rodeos. Dallam locates the modern cowboy church as a descendant of the muscular Christianity movement, the Jesus movement, and new paradigm church methodology. Cowboy Christians establishes the religious significance of the cowboy church movement, particularly relative to twenty-first-century evangelical Protestantism, and contributes to a deeper understanding of the unique Christianity of the American West.
Download or read book I AM Standing Up written by Luke Lang and published by Zonderkidz. This book was released on 2009-05-26 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maybe you have days when you don’t feel so good about yourself… You’re not as tall or thin as you’d like, or maybe you don’t quite fit in or you just get left out. Well, you’ll start to feel a lot better about yourself once you start reading about Luke! Luke Lang calls himself a freak of nature. He’s a grown man who is the height of an average fifth grader—but that’s not what makes him a freak. He’s also about as wide as the average Sumo wrestler (but sadly, too uncoordinated to actually compete as a Sumo wrestler!). Luke knows what it’s like to feel left out or left behind. But he’s got a great sense of humor about his life’s misadventures, and he’s sharing the hysterical stories with you, in the hopes that you’ll feel encouraged—not just because you’re not as freaky as Luke, but because you’ll see that God can do extraordinary things through people who are pretty ordinary. While you’re reading Luke’s embarrassing stories, like the time he got beat up by a girl in Karate class or the time he was fighting for his life at Boy Scout camp, you’ll learn a little about God’s love and grace, and you’ll be reminded that you were created on purpose, for a purpose.

Book Synopsis Hardcore Troubadour by : Lauren St John
Download or read book Hardcore Troubadour written by Lauren St John and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2004-01-20 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If Steve Earle weren't a living, breathing person, he'd be a character in a blues song -- a raucous ballad about a gifted rebel who drank too much, lost most of his women in a blizzard of crack and cocaine addiction, and always came out on the wrong side of the law. Somewhere in the midst of all this, he also managed to weld rock to country, the Beatles to Springsteen, and bluegrass to punk, establishing himself among the most thoroughly original and politically astute musicians of his generation. Granted unrestricted access to Steve and his family and friends, Lauren St John has given us a sometimes shocking, often moving, and completely unvarnished biography of one of America's most talismanic sons.
Download or read book Graveyard Blues written by Phillip Danna and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2016-03-09 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From midnight to 0200 are the hours that the streets are usually still moving with the bright headlights, from mostly cars flashing in the one direction and the red taillights flashing about in the other direction, giving the darkness an eerie and sometimes grotesque mingling of flashing multi-colored neon lights of businesses with the haze of streetlights. The excitement of the night to come is highlighted with the manmade Aurora Borealis of dancing hews. At 2 a.m. the bars close down, therefore, the restaurant’s alcohol drinks stop flowing. Now the streets are less filled with the kind of traffic that started that morning. Most of the business lights are dimmer, but not all. Mixed with a small amount of employees returning home from their late night shift are the cars returning from the bars. When graveyard begins and when the day darkens, many peace officers fall or are killed in the course of their job to protect the public while you are in your home safe. The hunt begins for criminals and we find them with handguns, knives, and all kinds of weapons. This is the time the drug addict’s dope is taken. This book describes the danger for the officer when he must solve the problems before he leaves to handle another call. The reader will understand when darkness arrives; the danger increases. It is a lonely shift as the deputy slowly drives his patrol until while looking for criminal activity in his area. Now the cat and mouse game begins as he is fighting fatigue and trying to stay alert for the next call. There are people out there who want to kill you or disable you rather than face arrest. You call for backup for help when you are arresting a dangerous person like a cold-blooded killer and especially when you are completing graveyard shift. As you slide under your warm blankets that cop is working the graveyard shift. Sleep peacefully and remember the road warriors are chasing crooks out in the neighborhood. And the war on crime begins again in the dark of night.
