Book Synopsis Dynamics of Mechanical Systems with Variable Mass by : Hans Irschik
Download or read book Dynamics of Mechanical Systems with Variable Mass written by Hans Irschik and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-10-16 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents up-to-date and unifying formulations for treating dynamics of different types of mechanical systems with variable mass. The starting point is overview of the continuum mechanics relations of balance and jump for open systems from which extended Lagrange and Hamiltonian formulations are derived. Corresponding approaches are stated at the level of analytical mechanics with emphasis on systems with a position-dependent mass and at the level of structural mechanics. Special emphasis is laid upon axially moving structures like belts and chains and on pipes with an axial flow of fluid. Constitutive relations in the dynamics of systems with variable mass are studied with particular reference to modeling of multi-component mixtures. The dynamics of machines with a variable mass are treated in detail and conservation laws and the stability of motion will be analyzed. Novel finite element formulations for open systems in coupled fluid and structural dynamics are presented.

This book was released on 1964 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The bibliography lists over 2800 unilingual, bilingual, and polyglot dictionaries, glossaries and encyclopedias in the physical sciences, engineering and technology published during the past twelve years. The majority of the titles cited have English as the xource or target language, or are dictionaries giving definitions * in English. The bibliographic entries are arranged in 49 subject classes; within each subject, the entries are listed alphabetically by language, and within each language group by author.Forty-seven foreign languages are represented in the compilation.Lists of abbreviations and reference sources, and detailed author, language, and subject indexes complement the publication. Book Synopsis Higher Gradient Materials and Related Generalized Continua by : Holm Altenbach
Download or read book Higher Gradient Materials and Related Generalized Continua written by Holm Altenbach and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-04 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses recent findings and advanced theories presented at two workshops at TU Berlin in 2017 and 2018. It underlines several advantages of generalized continuum models compared to the classical Cauchy continuum, which although widely used in engineering practice, has a number of limitations, such as: • The structural size is very small. • The microstructure is complex. • The effects are localized. As such, the development of generalized continuum models is helpful and results in a better description of the behavior of structures or materials. At the same time, there are more and more experimental studies supporting the new models because the number of material parameters is higher.
Book Synopsis Born-Jordan Quantization by : Maurice A. de Gosson
Download or read book Born-Jordan Quantization written by Maurice A. de Gosson and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-01-11 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a comprehensive mathematical study of the operators behind the Born–Jordan quantization scheme. The Schrödinger and Heisenberg pictures of quantum mechanics are equivalent only if the Born–Jordan scheme is used. Thus, Born–Jordan quantization provides the only physically consistent quantization scheme, as opposed to the Weyl quantization commonly used by physicists. In this book we develop Born–Jordan quantization from an operator-theoretical point of view, and analyze in depth the conceptual differences between the two schemes. We discuss various physically motivated approaches, in particular the Feynman-integral point of view. One important and intriguing feature of Born-Jordan quantization is that it is not one-to-one: there are infinitely many classical observables whose quantization is zero.
Book Synopsis Lobachevsky Geometry and Modern Nonlinear Problems by : Andrey Popov
Download or read book Lobachevsky Geometry and Modern Nonlinear Problems written by Andrey Popov and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-08-06 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents the basic concepts of hyperbolic Lobachevsky geometry and their possible applications to modern nonlinear applied problems in mathematics and physics, summarizing the findings of roughly the last hundred years. The central sections cover the classical building blocks of hyperbolic Lobachevsky geometry, pseudo spherical surfaces theory, net geometrical investigative techniques of nonlinear differential equations in partial derivatives, and their applications to the analysis of the physical models. As the sine-Gordon equation appears to have profound “geometrical roots” and numerous applications to modern nonlinear problems, it is treated as a universal “object” of investigation, connecting many of the problems discussed. The aim of this book is to form a general geometrical view on the different problems of modern mathematics, physics and natural science in general in the context of non-Euclidean hyperbolic geometry.
