Die benutzten Quellen hier aufzuzählen, kann um so mehr unterbleiben, als sie im d104 jederzeit angeführt sind und das etwa wörtlich oder im Auszug Entnommene kenntlich gemacht ist. Es liegt in der Natur des Werkes, dass häufig die Beschreibung eines Instruments mit den eigenen Worten des Erbauers oder des mit demselben arbeitenden Astronomen am einfachsten und klarsten wiederzugeben war. Ja, es war sogar meist mein Bestreben, mich wo irgend möglich an die vorhandenen Originalarbeiten zu halten und nur in Aus nahmefällen anderweitige Referate meiner Darstellung zu Grunde zu legen. Wie es bezüglich des d104es geschehen, habe ich mich bestrebt, es in dieser Beziehung auch mit der Wiedergabe der Figuren zu halten. Weit über die Hälfte derselben ist neu hergestellt worden und zwar dann stets nach den Originalen oder nach besonders aufgenommenen Photogrammen.
