Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This project gives the user of the HP-41 handheld programmable calculator a series of programs that give acceptable results during the preliminary phases of the helicopter design process. The project consists of three parts. The first part consists of several short programs and their subroutine form. These programs and subroutines compute density altitude, density, disc area, solidity, tip velocity, induced velocity, coefficient of thrust, tip loss factor, equivalent chord, and ground effect. The second part consists of major subroutines. These subroutines compute profile power, induced power, climb power, parasite power, and total power; equivalent area and induced power for a tandem rotor; and data input and change. The third part consists of the main programs. These programs compute the various power requirements for hovering flight, forward (straight and level), flight, vertical flight, and forward climbing flight; also tail rotor power, autorotative flight, and tandem rotor flight.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report gives the operator of the Hewlett-Packard (HP-41) handheld calculator the ability to quickly and accurately determine the power requirements of a helicopter in the preliminary design phase. These power requirements are computed for three landing gear configurations: skid, fixed wheel, and retractable wheel. By comparing the power required for each configuration, the user can determine the optimum landing gear for the design. (Author).

Book Synopsis Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences by : Wade H. Shafer
Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1 957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 28 (thesis year 1 983) a total of 10,661 theses titles from 26 Canadian and 197 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 28 reports theses submitted in-1983, on occasion, certain univer sities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.
Book Synopsis Helicopter Performance Computer Programs for HP-41 Hand-Held Computer by : Donald M. Layton
Download or read book Helicopter Performance Computer Programs for HP-41 Hand-Held Computer written by Donald M. Layton and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This document has reference tables and programs used to evaluate helicopter performance in the areas of: Autorotation; However, Service and Combat Ceilings; Basic Power Required Parameters; Fuel Consumption; High Speed Effects; Basic Power Considerations; Maximum Endurance Power/Velocity; Maximum Rage Power/Velocity; and Weight Estimation Relationships. These programs present the user of the HP-41 hand-held, programmable calculator with a series of self-prompting, alphanumeric programs that can be used with acceptable results to compute and evaluate helicopter performance. Most of the programs are structured so as to be more expedient when doing preliminary helicopter design where intermediate values are of less a concern than would be the case when studying detailed performance.
