Huarás, capital of the Region (Department) of Ancash, Peru, has a distinct form of Quechua. That dialect was endangered due to a massive earthquake on May 31, 1970. Tens of thousands of people died, and the city was destroyed. Many of the survivors left the area. Once rebuilt, Huarás was repopulated with people new to the area who use Spanish or a different dialect to communicate. Since then, technological influences such as the Internet also reinforce the use of Spanish, to the detriment of the local Quechua. Born in Huarás, I was raised in a bilingual environment, Spanish and Quechua. Although I left the area to attend the university, I could always feel at home upon returning, until that earthquake. Since then it seems strange to return to an unfamiliar city, due to people, language and environment. I hope this glossary will help the newer generations better understand, not only their grandparents and ancestors, but the culture from which they come. Language and culture are intimately tied, and much more than words is lost when a language dies. The Inca Empire (Tahuantinsuyo) was invaded by Spain in 1532. At that time Quechua was spoken, never written, throughout the Inca civilization, with many dialects. Since then, the Spanish language has been imposed, but in Huarás never did it replace Quechua to the extent that it did in 1970. This glossary contains words, several verb forms, and phrases. It is written with the expectation that it may help to preserve the inherited Quechua, so that Huarás may remain bilingual. It is written for huarasinos, the people of Huarás. Book excerpt: Moving Otherwise examines how contemporary dance practices in Buenos Aires, Argentina enacted politics within climates of political and economic violence from the mid-1960s to the mid-2010s. From the repression of military dictatorships to the precarity of economic crises, contemporary dancers and audiences consistently responded to and reimagined the everyday choreographies that have accompanied Argentina's volatile political history. The titular concept, "moving otherwise" names how both concert dance and its off-stage practice and consumption offer alternatives to and modes to critique the patterns of movement and bodily comportment that shape everyday life in contexts marked by violence. Drawing on archival research based in institutional and private collections, over fifty interviews with dancers and choreographers, and the author's embodied experiences as a collaborator and performer with active groups, the book analyzes how a wide range of practices moved otherwise, including concert works, community dance initiatives, and the everyday labor that animates dance. It demonstrates how these diverse practices represent, resist, and remember violence and engender new forms of social mobilization on and off the theatrical stage. As the first book length critical study of Argentine contemporary dance, it introduces a breadth of choreographers to an English speaking audience, including Ana Kamien, Susana Zimmermann, Estela Maris, Alejandro Cervera, Renate Schottelius, Susana Tambutti, Silvia Hodgers, and Silvia Vladimivsky. It also considers previously undocumented aspects of Argentine dance history, including crossings between contemporary dancers and 1970s leftist political militancy, Argentine dance labor movements, political protest, and the prominence of tango themes in contemporary dance works that address the memory of political violence. Contemporary dance, the book demonstrates, has a rich and diverse history of political engagement in Argentina.

Ninguno de los seres humanos se puede dar vida a sí mismo. Antes que ellos nacieran, alguien superior los ha precedido, de la misma manera que antes de nacer un hijo existen ya su padre y su madre. Así, este libro es una reafirmación de nuestra fe, expresada de una manera muy sencilla y sin ninguna complicación. Este libro es también un recordatorio para nosotros amar a nuestra Iglesia y defenderla a pesar de que haya muchas cosas que nos puedan provocar desencanto. No debemos desanimarnos; al contrario, debemos estar felices de saber el camino que conduce a la paz y a la salvación. La Iglesia se inició con la traición de Judas, que contribuyó a la cruz de Jesús. Este tipo de hechos seguirán estando presentes en nuestra Iglesia, en nuestras comunidades, e incluso en el comportamiento de nuestros líderes. Pero, si Dios está con nosotros, ¿quién puede estar contra nosotros? Jesús nos ha marcado el camino que debemos seguir si queremos estar con Dios nuestro Padre. Mi libro está escrito en armonía con las enseñanzas de la fe católica y el mensaje va directo al corazón de la persona humana. El contenido del libro nos invita a mantener la fe con el fin de comprender mejor nuestro papel en un mundo lleno de violencia y de secularismo. Hemos llegado a ser violentos no sólo con los demás, sino también con nosotros mismos, al elegir creencias y actitudes que no nos ayudan a convertirnos en personas obedientes, humildes y felices. Muchos hombres y mujeres entran en la Iglesia, pero tienen una interpretación errónea de la fe y de la jerarquía. Ellos no están de acuerdo ni contentos con una cosa ni otra. Piensan que pueden escoger y elegir lo que quieran y como quieran. Sin embargo, es importante entender que la Iglesia no es, y nunca ha sido, una democracia. La Iglesia es jerárquica y encuentra su fundamento en la autoridad que el Señor Jesús recibió del Padre. Con esa autoridad, Él dijo a Pedro: " Tú eres Pedro, y sobre esta piedra edificaré mi Iglesia, y el poder del infierno no la derrotará".
