Book Synopsis Gust-tunnel Investigation of a Wing Model with Semichord Line Swept Back 60 Degrees by : Harold B. Pierce
Download or read book Gust-tunnel Investigation of a Wing Model with Semichord Line Swept Back 60 Degrees written by Harold B. Pierce and published by . This book was released on 1950 with total page 688 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation was made in the Langley gust tunnel of a 60 degree sweptback-wing model to determine its response to gusts. On the basis of results, a simplified method of analysis, which uses a slope of the lift curve derived by the cosine law and which uses strip theory to estimate the penetration effect, appears to be applicable for the prediction of gust loads on wings swept as much as 60 degrees.
Book Synopsis Gust-tunnel Investigation of a Flexible-wing Model with Semichord Line Swept Back 45° by : Thomas D. Reisert
Download or read book Gust-tunnel Investigation of a Flexible-wing Model with Semichord Line Swept Back 45° written by Thomas D. Reisert and published by . This book was released on 1949 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation was made in the Langley gust tunnel of a flexible-wing model with the semichord line swept back 45 degrees to obtain experimental data on the amount of gust-load alleviation that might be expected as a result of the wings flexing under load. The results indicated that unless adverse pitching motion could be eliminated or reduced the over-all load reduction would be small. The net reduction in bending moment, however, may be appreciable.

Book Synopsis Low-speed Wind-tunnel Investigation of a Triangular Sweptback Air Inlet in the Root of a 45 Degree Sweptback Wing by : Arvid L. Keith
Download or read book Low-speed Wind-tunnel Investigation of a Triangular Sweptback Air Inlet in the Root of a 45 Degree Sweptback Wing written by Arvid L. Keith and published by . This book was released on 1950 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A low-speed investigation has been conducted in the Langley two-dimensional low-turbulence tunnel to study a sweptback wing-root air-inlet configuration believed suitable for transonic-speed jet-powered airplanes. The test configurations consisted of a basic model with an NACA 64-008 wing with quarter-chord sweepback of 45 degrees mounted in the midwing position on a fuselage of fineness ratio 6.7, and an inlet model which had a triangular-shaped sweptback inlet installed in the wing root.

Book Synopsis Introduction to Aircraft Aeroelasticity and Loads by : Jan Robert Wright
Download or read book Introduction to Aircraft Aeroelasticity and Loads written by Jan Robert Wright and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-02-28 with total page 559 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aeroelastic phenomena arising from the interaction of aerodynamic, elastic and inertia forces, and the loads resulting from flight / ground manoeuvres and gust / turbulence encounters, have a significant influence upon aircraft design. The prediction of aircraft aeroelastic stability, response and loads requires application of a range of interrelated engineering disciplines. This new textbook introduces the foundations of aeroelasticity and loads for the flexible aircraft, providing an understanding of the main concepts involved and relating them to aircraft behaviour and industrial practice. This book includes the use of simplified mathematical models to demonstrate key aeroelastic and loads phenomena including flutter, divergence, control effectiveness and the response and loads resulting from flight / ground manoeuvres and gust / turbulence encounters. It provides an introduction to some up-to-date methodologies for aeroelastics and loads modelling. It lays emphasis on the strong link between aeroelasticity and loads. It also includes provision of MATLAB and SIMULINK programs for the simplified analyses. It offers an overview of typical industrial practice in meeting certification requirements.
