Close this book this very second, you nosy noodle! Cookie has woken up on the wrong side of the bed and is very angry. You want to know why? Well, you’d have to keep reading to find out, but now Cookie’s calling you annoying and telling you to mind your own business. If by chance you do stick around, you might hear about a certain roommate’s terrible musical skills, why you should never let your barber try out a “new look,” how it’s impossible to find a hat that fits a cookie, and why an ice-cream parlor that’s out of your favorite treat can be a source of desolation. Then there’s the matter of a hungry bird who tries to snack on you. . . . Propelled by quirky humor and woes that every young child can relate to, Angry Cookie suggests that sometimes the best way to cheer up a grumpy lump is simply by being there — and lending your ears.

Book Synopsis A Matter Of Chatter by : Apollo Stark
Download or read book A Matter Of Chatter written by Apollo Stark and published by Skull 'n' Bones Ltd. This book was released on 2023-10-14 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Matter of Chatter is an eclectic mix of nursery rhymes, verse and nonsense for young children. Come, meet Mr Odds ‘n’ Ends Find out the benefits of wearing Odd Socks Hear the Hullabaloo Discover Royal Mayhem and much, much more. Drawing inspiration from the nursery rhymes of his childhood, Apollo Stark wrote and published this, his first ever book, in 1995. This revised and expanded second edition, unlike its predecessor, contains previously unpublished pieces and illustrations. Adding to and enriching the tradition of telling and reciting nursery rhymes, ‘A Matter of Chatter’ will make a delightful edition to any nursery school’s bookshelves or infant’s bedtime stories. My piece, ‘Hey Dum Dum Rook’ was inspired by ‘The Cat and the Fiddle’, the earliest printed version of this poem being written in 1765, and which is now better known as ‘Hey Diddle Diddle’. ‘Where The Peppers Went’, is my response to the tongue twisting, rhyming question posed by John Harris in 1813 when he asked in his book called, Peter Piper’s practical principals of plain and perfect pronunciation, “Where’s the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?” My rhyming verse, ‘Royal Mayhem’, like its predecessors, The Grand Old Duke of York and Humptey Dumptey, is a historical commentary. Two Muddle Some, and several other pieces in this book, were inspired by the nonsense works of Mr Edward Lear, whilst ‘Tom Cat Bert” was motivated by A A Milne’s verse, Buckingham Palace. I hope my humble offerings, like those nursery rhymes before them, endure the test of time, and in some little way help to keep the tradition of nursery rhyme writing and telling alive.

Talented wordsmith Jim Aisle, known as the Lowcountry Liar, spins tales of the supernatural, the weird, the mysterious, and the humorous. These titillating tales are recorded and relayed to the gentle reader by his friend Brian Wanamaker McCright, who tosses in a few of his own yarns to round out this clever collection. Each story begins with a folksy introduction from both the Lowcountry Liar and McCright as they ramble about the region and ends with notes about provenance and fascinating facts. The tales have a life of their own and will resonate with all who have listened in rapt attention around a campfire surrounded by darkness. Included are ghostly legends from the great Late Unpleasantness, more often referred to as the Civil War, with such intriguing titles as "The Silverware Civil War" and the "Cross of St. George." Spooky twists abound in "Love Stinks" and "Mother's Milk." Even the most endearing of timeless tales, such as the popular "The Little White Dog of White Point Garden," are told in the Lowcountry vernacular and will become a favorite of every reader.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although twistor theory originated as an approach to the unification of quantum theory and general relativity, twistor correspondences and their generalizations have provided powerful mathematical tools for studying problems in differential geometry, nonlinear equations, and representation theory. At the same time, the theory continues to offer promising new insights into the nature of quantum theory and gravitation. Further Advances in Twistor Theory, Volume III: Curved Twistor Spaces is actually the fourth in a series of books compiling articles from Twistor Newsletter-a somewhat informal journal published periodically by the Oxford research group of Roger Penrose. Motivated both by questions in differential geometry and by the quest to find a twistor correspondence for general Ricci-flat space times, this volume explores deformed twistor spaces and their applications. Articles from the world's leading researchers in this field-including Roger Penrose-have been written in an informal, easy-to-read style and arranged in four chapters, each supplemented by a detailed introduction. Collectively, they trace the development of the twistor programme over the last 20 years and provide an overview of its recent advances and current status.
