In topics as varied as astronomy and cosmology, evolution, genetic engineering, extraterrestrial life, psychology and religious experience, spirituality and medicine, and artificial intelligence, fifty key thinkers discuss the interrelationship between science and religion. Contributors include Robert Jastrow, first chairman of NASA's Lunar Exploration Committee and currently director of the Mount Wilson Institute; Rod Davies, former director of the Jodrell Bank Radio Astronomy Laboratories, U.K.; Owen Gingerich, senior astronomer, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory; Paul Davies, recipient of the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion; Sir John Haughton, former director general of the United Kingdom Meteorological Office; Lord Habgood, former archbishop of York; and science writers Kitty Ferguson and Gregg Easterbrook. The writers are drawn from eight countries and represent the Christian, Jewish, Islamic, and Hindu traditions. Most are scientists by profession, but also included are philosophers, theologians, and psychologists. Each chapter of this innovative, accessible book helps to expand our thinking in light of what is known at the dawn of the twenty-first century. Taken as a whole, this book presents a challenging understanding of God and of God's interaction with the world and with ourselves. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FOREWORD Every man who is a success, regardless of how gifted he may be, did not manage to achieve his goals, rank, station or wealth by his own efforts, but he is indebted to a number of key persons in his life without whose mentoring, support, and encouragement he would quite likely have been a miserable failure! * * * KING DAVID of Israel was surrounded by a magnificent corps of extraordinarily strong, courageous, unflinchingly brave and self-sacrificing men who were his confidants, his personal bodyguard, and comrades-at-arms. They were the special elite corps of fearless warriors whose devotion to their king placed his welfare and that of his kingdom above their own personal safety – every one of these champions would gladly have sacrificed his own life to honor, advance and protect the life of their king. The annals of Holy Scripture single them out by the accolade that marks them as David’s Mighty Men. Their names are recorded in the Hebrew Old Testament book of II Samuel, chapter 23, verses 8-39. They were thirty-seven of the most fierce and dedicated warriors that ever lived. In a parallel list of these men which is recorded in I Chronicles 11:11-47, the number of warriors is expanded by 16 names (I Ch. 11:41-47), probably because additional men were added to replace those who had died, some in battle, giving their lives for their king. They were truly men of extraordinary valor, physical might and unwavering loyalty. They were a combination of “combat commandos,” “stealth rangers,” “navy seals,” “green beret,” “special ops” and “Delta forces” who had acquired the skills of battle demanded to survive and conquer in hand-to-hand warfare. They engaged in clandestine operations and were often outnumbered by staggering odds pitted against them, yet they stood their ground. Time after time on fields of battle they were “the last men standing.” They defended their king and gained victory over their enemies by sheer strength of determination and by the inexplicable physical and mental character with which they were endowed by their God, Yahweh, Who Himself had chosen David as their king. “These are the names of David’s Mighty Men: “Josheb-Basshebeth, a Tahkemonite, was the chief . . . he raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter. “Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite . . . he was with David when they taunted the Philistines that were gathered at Pas Dammim for battle. The men of Israel retreated, but he stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory that day. “Shammah son of Agee the Harrarite. When the Philistines banded together . . . Israel’s troops fled from them. But Shamma took his stand in the middle of the field. He defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the Lord brought about a great victory. “Abishai the brother of Joab . . . he raised his spear against three hundred men, whom he killed. “Benaiah son of Jehoida was a valiant fighter from Kabzeel . . . he struck down two of Moab’s best men. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion, and he struck down a huge Egyptian. Although the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club. He snatched the spear from the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with his own spear. And David put him in charge of his bodyguard.” Abishai, Benaiah and another warrior risked their lives to break through the lines of the Philistines and draw water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem to bring back to David a drink from that well. Although he longed to taste that water, David poured it out as an offering unto the Lord rather than to drink water for which his loyal and devoted warriors risked their lives. There were also among David’s Mighty Men the following warriors: “Ashel the brother of Joab, Elhanan so

Book excerpt: What happens when the king’s most obedient soldier is issued a wicked command? Benaiah is valiant against men and beasts. He is known for three heroic deeds that lead to his appointment in the elite force of David’s Mighty Men: aggressively going down into a pit on a snowy day to kill a lion; fighting two Moabite ariels; and challenging a giant Egyptian the size of David’s Goliath, armed with only a staff, and killing him with the man’s own spear. When David is crowned king, Benaiah is made his chief bodyguard and eventually head of the whole army of Israel under King Solomon. Reeling from the tragic cost of disobedience when he was young, Benaiah directs his life toward one chief aim: to be found a faithful, loyal, valiant and obedient soldier, servant of the King and follower of Yahweh. But when “just following orders” leads to his part in adultery, murder and death, he questions his life’s direction. If both obedience and disobedience cause death, how can he ever find redemption?

Book excerpt: Moving in the Power of God in the 21st Century offers a comprehensive, yet practical guide as to how to live a successful life of power and spiritual anointing, which is pleasing to God, and satisfying to ones own life. There is no way one can read this book without becoming excited and energized about the Christian experience. The 21st century in which we live is often hectic and fast-paced, and one can easily become caught up and overcome by the pressures of modern living. Therefore, Moving in the Power of God in the 21st Century presents a step-by-step, how to instruction book and guide, which explains in practical language, how to survive and indeed grow spiritually in these end times. The first chapter, for example, is entitled, Moving in the Supernatural Power of God; the subtitle is, What does it take to Move in Power? Chapter two is entitled, Hearing and Understanding the Voice of God, with a challenging subtitle, A Supernatural Connection to Heaven. I am convinced that Moving in the Power of God in the 21st Century will be a must have title for every child of God to have in their literary collection

Book excerpt: Christians know that God loves them, but can easily feel that he is perpetually disappointed and frustrated, maybe even close to giving up on them. As a result, they focus a lot—and rightly so—on what Jesus has done to appease God’s wrath for sin. But how does Jesus Christ actually feel about his people amid all their sins and failures? This book draws us to Matthew 11, where Jesus describes himself as “gentle and lowly in heart,” longing for his people to find rest in him. The gospel flows from God’s deepest heart for his people, a heart of tender love for the sinful and suffering. These chapters take readers into the depths of Christ’s very heart for sinners, diving deep into Bible passages that speak of who Christ is and encouraging readers with the affections of Christ for his people. His longing heart for sinners comforts and sustains readers in their up-and-down lives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For those who truly desire a comprehensive understanding of the exigency of the incarnation, centrality of the cross and the sine qua non of the resurrection...This is a must read! Dr. Williams brilliantly weaves together orthodox theology with practical application resulting in a work meaty enough for the scholar yet digestible and building for the everyday church goer. -- Bishop Donald Clay, Petra International Ministries, Pittsburg, PA This book is an important contribution to the 21st century Christian community. It presents a strong unapologetic biblical methodical argument of The God Man, Jesus, based on Scripture with strong visual illustrations. As such, ministers and lay persons would greatly appreciate and benefit biblically and theologically in regards to the natures and function of The God Man. Therefore, I strongly encourage and recommend everyone to read this book which presents a clear succinct understanding of The God Man. ""De Lafayette Awkward, Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div. & Th.M), Hebrew University of Jerusalem (ABD), Pastor of New Lots Community Church, Reformed Church in America In 451 the Council of Chalcedon meet and confirmed that Christ had two natures: one divine and the other human. Over the centuries the concept of the "God Man" has confused, intrigued and escaped the logic of theologians, preachers, and students. In his book "The God-Man", Elder J. D. Williams seeks to explain his concept through comprehensive exploration and exposition. Elder Williams has provided an excellent text that includes research, sermons and illustrations that are designed to enlighten the mind, while providing further dialogue among those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the term the "God-Man". --Rev. Dr. Carl L. Washington, Jr. Pastor, New Mount Zion Baptist Church Former Moderator, United Missionary Baptist Association President, Empire Baptist Missionary Convention Dr. J. D. Williams is a profound pedagogue who's deep and contemplative studies are captured within these pages. His insightful perspective regarding the revelation of the mystery between God and Christ is a must read for all in search of a more weighty theological enlightenment. -- Bishop Eric R. Figueroa, Sr. Presiding Prelate, New Life Covenant Fellowship Senior Pastor, New Life Tabernacle

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you have ever wanted to believe in God, in the face of so much that would say He doesn’t exist, this is the book for you. On the scientific level, The God’s Honest Truth is just that, a book of truth, discussing what scientific proof is, as opposed to what is mere science fiction; regarding universal beginnings. It deals with issues of six-day creationism, offers evidence for a worldwide flood, and denounces evolution for what it is. On a theological level, it is a primer for contemporary biblical thinking, teaching believers what the Bible says on the important issues of life. It discusses why evil exists in the face of an all-loving God and whether the fate of sinful man will be perpetual torture in the fires of hell. Lastly, it walks readers through such historical subjects as Christian participation in warfare, slavery, and speaks to the more current issues of abortion and gay rights. Based strictly on biblical doctrines, when rendering decisions, it is meant as a guide through the ever-changing customs and conceived morality of life on planet Earth.

Even today, Jesus prays for us to be unified as the Body of Christ. As all Christians are called to be ambassadors for Christ, we must present to the world actions for which the spiritually dead will know that we are Christians by our love. Though theologies and styles of worship will be different, we must lift up the name of Jesus, proclaim the Good News, and work intentionally for racial and denominational unity. These actions are the witness that Jesus proclaims will allow the world to believe that he is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. It is time to let the 'city on a hill' shine"--Back cover

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "For God, for country, and for Yale... in that order," William F. Buckley Jr. wrote as the dedication of his monumental work—a compendium of knowledge that still resonates within the halls of the Ivy League university that tried to cover up its political and religious bias. In 1951, a twenty-five-year-old Yale graduate published his first book, which exposed the "extraordinarily irresponsible educational attitude" that prevailed at his alma mater. The book, God and Man at Yale, rocked the academic world and catapulted its young author, William F. Buckley Jr. into the public spotlight. Now, half a century later, read the extraordinary work that began the modern conservative movement. Buckley's harsh assessment of his alma mater divulged the reality behind the institution's wholly secular education, even within the religion department and divinity school. Unabashed, one former Yale student details the importance of Christianity and heralds the modern conservative movement in his preeminent tell-all, God and Man at Yale: The Superstitions of "Academic Freedom."

This book was released on 2009-11 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do we have terrorists today? Yes we do. Can we identify them? Yes we can. Are there political and religious terrorists today? Yes there are. Where can we find them today? Over the world, and in every nation. Do we have terrorists on the mission field? Yes we do. What are some of their actions so we may identify them? They burn churches and homes of Christians, they kill whole congregations, and they behead children going to and from school. They kill and imprison pastors and Christian leaders. What recourse do the Christians have? Until now they have been told to endure for God will avenge. But I say no, you have the power to stop this foolishness in its tracks. They can receive and believe the word, so that these terrorists become Christians just as Saul became Paul and the Syrian army became friendly with Israel. This is a "believing God thing." Not a man thing. In some nations of the world like in central Asia there are over 4 billion lost souls. The percentage of evangelical Christians among all of them is less than 5%. Jesus as we all know is coming soon, how are we to reach these before he comes? God's Answer to 21st Century Terrorists is a memorable account of a fresh historical perspective with unforgettable characters and with a touch of the supernatural. The apostle Paul was a First Century terrorist, killing and imprisoning Christians. The Lord Jesus Christ, Head of the Church, gave us an object lesson on how to win the terrorist. We need to use His plan today. Too many Christians are being slaughtered; their churches burned and whole congregations are threatened with violence.
