Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life can really suck. But it doesn't have to. With the help of esteemed consultant and coach Michelle DeAngelis, life can really rock. DeAngelis serves up a combination of street-smart wisdom and cheerful irreverence as she shows readers how to enjoy the "ride of their lives," regardless of the roadblocks or potholes along the way. By providing the specific mechanics to joy, DeAngelis shows that joy is a repeatable by-product of living one's life in integrity and of making conscious choices every day that kick misery, worry, and guilt to the curb. She explains how most people are not naturally equipped to deal with life's challenges and then introduces foundational tools and effective techniques to take readers from crappy to happy. She starts with a Joy Quotient Quiz that gives readers their "JQ" score and identifies their "Gap"--the measurable difference between what people think and what they do--which is where life sucks. She then teaches a four-step, fast-acting process that provides "suck relief" to solve everyday problems. The centerpiece of the work is DeAngelis's 10 Life-Changing Ahas. From the title to the very last line, Get a Life That Doesn't Suck is not your everyday self-help book. Through humor and real-life examples, DeAngelis explains how readers can reduce their stress, improve their outlook, and get rid of whatever is holding them back. She provides the formula for readers to make joy real and accessible so that the journey from "life sucks" to "life rocks" is worth the trip.

Book excerpt: Because sometimes, life is going to suck, and you’re going to have to know how to handle it… What happens when you step on one of the great Lego pieces of life? When you get blind-sided? Thrown a curveball? When you get divorced? Or someone dies? You're going to need something more than the diarrhoea-like progression of motivational quotes we get fed on Instagram - you're going to need real-world ways to deal with a big, fat let-down. Because one will come for you, eventually. And when one came for comedian and journalist Emma Markezic in the form of a nasty cancer, despite the fact she found herself bald, broke and living alone, she felt more alive than ever. So she wanted to know why... Why does trauma affect us in such different ways? Why are some people more resilient than others? Why was she handling cancer better than other people handle a paper cut and, more importantly, was it a skill she could teach? When she wrote an article about how learning she might die made her the happiest she'd ever been, it became a media sensation and she knew she was onto something. With dozens of expert brain morsels and more than a little humour, Curveballs is a memoir-meets-self-help manual for how to keep it together when life tries to tear you a new one. Because you'll want to be more resilient than a tardigrade in outer space when it does*. *Microscopic eight-legged animals that can withstand 1000 times more radiation than humans, live for 100 years without water and literally just hang out in space like freeloaders at a Vegas buffet. See... you learned something already!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Struggling with life sucks. Being unhappy sucks. Being alone sucks. I was alone, unhappy and struggling with just staying alive when I was just in my early teens, but I discovered that regardless of how I started out in life my start had nothing to do with how I would end up and I would like to share my journey with you. I wrote this book to make a difference in the lives of those who think their life sucks. I believe my book has a universal message that can provide the answers to living a life filled with joy, peace, love and happiness. What's the mystery to happiness? There's no magic or secret formula! For many people their life doesn't suck. They are happy at peace with themselves and enjoying their life to the fullest. "So what special gift did they get that many other people have not.... ....maybe including you?" "How come they get to stand at the front of the short line and you seems to always be at the very end of the longest one?" That's my goal is for my book. To share some information with you so that you not only stand at the front of the line but the line is actually one that you have created for yourself so you are always first in line. To be happy. My message is personal and universal and can provide proven strategies on obtaining happiness including: Making Decisions Conquering the fear of failure How negative thinking fuels unhappiness The Power of subconscious programming Blame and entitlement afflictions Creating positive relationships Improving communication skills Getting what you want Using basic human behavior traits for a happier life Coping with stress and worry I originally wrote the book to pass along some of my life experiences to my grandchildren who seems to be struggling a bit with the challenges of growing up and becoming young adults. My hope was to give them some simple lessons that they could immediately incorporate into their daily living to allow them to take on' whatever challenges their where facing. They loved it and encouraged me to spread the word to others of all ages who are finding life a tad tough. My book is a series of short sections (chapters) where I share my perspective on living a society that can present many roadblocks and obstacles to achieving life of peace, joy and happiness. Why would my perspective be worth reviewing? Well I started out in life as an abused kid, with one parent, living in poverty and found myself on the streets by the time I was fourteen. My life really sucked! But I managed to survive and become a happy person who is surrounded by many blessings. If I can figure out how to be happy from my start in life, I am confident that those who think their life sucks now can turn their sucked up life into one of serenity. I think my life journey has something to offer everyone. So Life Sucks. Get Over It!' It's a great read for anyone who has anything to do with relationship with others (happy people too). Whether it be at home, at work or any other environment, being happy has a lot to do with how you perceive yourself and the world around you.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every year since 1968, Leaf fans hope that the new season will be the one that breaks the Stanley Cup drought. Sadly, those hopes are usually dashed mid-season. In the biggest hockey market in North America, with such a huge and loyal fan base, how has the team missed it for so long? It’s the question that every Leafs fan asks (and has been afraid to have answered). Now updated to include both the disastrous 2009–10 season and the 2010–11 season, Al Strachan covers what’s gone wrong and why. With behind-the-scenes access and forty years of fascinating Leafs personalities and stories, Al discusses How the downfall started and how Harold Ballard perpetuated it Why fans were once again ill-served in the battle for club ownership after Ballard’s death The three wasted first-round draft picks in one season Why the Leafs passed on Wayne Gretzky How the Phil Kessel trade will impact the team for years to come Why Brian Burke may not be the saviour Leafs fans are hoping for And most important, what can be done—how other teams have had success and thrived in the salary-cap era For fans who love the Leafs (and those who love to hate them), Why the Leafs Still Suck is a revealing and sometimes shocking inside look at professional hockey.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most theologies suck. They’re too technical or they describe a God nobody understands. Sometimes the God portrayed sounds like a controlling boyfriend or absentee parent. Rather than woo or persuade, most theology books clobber readers into submission. This book is different. Thomas Jay Oord presents a theology that makes sense. It fits the way we live our lives and matches our deepest intuitions. To the surprise of some, it harmonizes with sacred scripture... at least the good parts. And it promotes a genuinely loving God. Open and relational theology is controversial. Oord and others have lost their jobs because they embrace it. Others have been booted from religious communities or shunned by families and friends. It’s that radical! Using understandable language and illustrations from everyday life, Oord explains the core ideas of open and relational theology. He reveals why this way of thinking is life-changing – for good – for so many. This theology doesn’t suck. People around the world are turning to open and relational theology. It answers our biggest questions about good and evil, purpose and freedom, love and science. Get a Copy of Open and Relational Theology What they're saying...
