Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 5 BIG Reasons Why Most People Will Always Fail To Get The Jobs They Want... And How To Avoid Making The Same Mistakes 1. Reason #1: Employers are looking for passionate and service-dedicated A-players who are driven to deliver results, and who would do anything creative and unconventional to get the jobs they are passionate about. Most job seekers lack the passion, drive and energy for the jobs they go after, thereby violating Big Question 1 of the Job-getting Formula. In Step 1 of this book, you'll learn the secret mindset and winning habits that will offer you "insurance" against failure in getting the job you want. 2. Reason #2: Most people DO NOT take time to investigate the problem of the prospective employer before applying for the job - they therefore send out generic résumés and cover letters, which confirm that they do not have a clue about the employer's problems. Again, violating Big Question 2 of the Job-getting Formula. In Step 2 of this book, you'll learn what I call the "Gold Digger's Approach" for figuring out the exact problem, for which an employer is willing to hire you to solve. 3. Reason #3: Most job seekers send out weak and mediocre résumés and cover letters that DO NOT market and sell their in-demand skills and accomplishments to the employer - instead, these portray them as incompetent "paycheck mongers" who can't deliver results. This violates Big Question 3 of the Job-getting Formula. In Step 3 of this book, you'll learn how to combine some little-known Rules of Influence and other "bad-ass" techniques to FORCE a hiring manager (or hiring decision maker) to call you for an interview. 4. Reason #4: Most job seekers, despite great skills, experience and qualifications, may fall short of the courage (fear of rejection), skills, and techniques of directly contacting informants, in order to rip off vital information regarding problems faced by employers, on one hand; and meet hiring managers to sell their in-demand skills, on the other hand. This violates Big Question 4. In Step 4 of this book, we'll show you how to contact a hiring manager, head of department or hiring decision maker... in a way that makes them see you as competent, confident and "mature" for the job you want. 5. Reason #5: Most job seekers, who succeed to get to the interview stage, fail to prove their worth as marketed and sold by their résumé and cover letter. This is because they lack insider knowledge about the interviewing techniques and psychology used by recruiters, hiring managers and hiring decision makers for judging candidates. This directly violates Big Question 5, and stops them from passing an interview and getting a job offer. In Step 5 of this book, we'll reveal over 178 toughest interview questions as well as the psychology, rules, formulas and techniques for answering them. The rest of this book deals with the details of each Step (or BIG Question) of the Job-getting Formula. You will discover simple, never-before revealed secrets you never could fathom on your own. We'll walk you step-by-step through each one of the killer techniques as we move on.

It has inspired and motivated me to continue to do something for men in nursing at the college where I teach as well as for men in our delivery rooms and postpartum units. We need to move beyond women and children and include men as fathers to truly promote wellness for families.” --Janet Ierardi, MSN, RNC, CNE Assistant Professor Family Focused Nursing Lawrence Memorial/Regis College Nursing Program This is a nuts and bolts guide to a career in nursing--from the earliest consideration of a nursing career through education and clinical practice--designed specifically for men. The text presents the numerous career paths available in nursing along with a consideration of their financial benefits, job security, personal fulfillment, and the need for nurses who are adept at information management and high tech-skills. The history of nursing is discussed through biographies of nine remarkable male nurses, offering much needed historical role models. Book excerpt: REGISTERED NURSES (RNS) ARE highly respected professionals that form the backbone of healthcare. Without a strong workforce of RNs, the daily operations of healthcare would quickly grind to a halt. Few careers offer such challenging, yet rewarding work. Every time RNs go to work, they make a difference in people's lives - or even save lives - of newborns, the elderly, and everyone in between. As key members of the healthcare team, they perform a wide variety of tasks, such as administer medications, assist with surgery, help people cope with long-term illness, and provide health education. They also take care of patients in their homes as they recover from illness, surgery, or accidents. RNs power the healthcare system, ensuring that the many details involved in patient care flow smoothly. This includes much more than direct patient care and RNs are not confined to the bedside. Today's RNs handle case management, conduct clinical research, and teach in nursing programs. They also influence legislation, establish new healthcare delivery systems, write and publish, and participate on boards of directors. They often supervise licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and nursing assistants.A registered nursing career also offers many opportunities to specialize in one or more areas of patient care. There are more than 100 specialties to choose from, such as surgical, pediatrics, oncology, emergency medicine, geriatrics, orthopedics, or rehabilitation. There are three routes to becoming a registered nurse. The shortest and most popular is a two-year nursing program known as an AND. Although two years is not much time to invest in such a solid career, it is not easy to accomplish. This is a popular field and there is competition to get into nursing schools. Once admitted, students have to work hard to make it through the rigorous curriculum. Will there be a job waiting for those who manage to get trained and licensed? Registered nurses are everywhere and there are a growing number of working professionals. There are three million registered nurses in the US, which makes it the largest group of healthcare workers. Yet, that is not enough to fill the need. There has been a nursing shortage for decades, and the job growth rate for RNs continues to be much higher than for most other occupations. The high demand means a newly graduated registered nurse will have the opportunity to work practically anywhere. Employers are offering good pay - as much as $70,000 a year - even for those with less than a year of experience. That does not even include sign-on bonuses, benefits, and other perks. With advanced training, some nursing specialties pay over $200,000 a year! A career in registered nursing offers a winning combination of job security, ease of entry, flexible work hours, good pay, and the opportunity to help others. It is also challenging, defined by hard work, long hours, and stressful situations. For the right type of person, however, there is no more rewarding career than being a registered nurse.
